Kings 2009-2010 NBA Draft:

After watching the first two days and seeing some prospects I can clearly see who I wouldn't hate having on this team. A couple thoughts:

A draft of Udoh and a slimmer Samhan would do wonders for this squad, shotblocking Udoh at the 4 already has a faceup jumper game I'm seeing this dude in a Purple and Black and just seeing stars.

Samhan has great bball big man instincts and knows his game already, he just parks his big *** down low and goes to work gotta love that.

Favors is raw but ready, he just has the worst collection of wingmen I've ever seen on a squad with some DEADLY bigs. Seriously if they had any sort of legit smart guard play, they'd be favorites to win easily off the strength of Favors, Peacock and Lawal alone.

As for guards I really like this Freddett guy at BYU, he comes off like a gunner and I admittingly haven't seen enough of his guy to really gauge what his positives are, but he can sure shoot the rock!

Anderson out of OK St. even if he didn't have a good game last night I still like his game, long, athletic and can shoot.

I've pretty much due to our record given up dreams of nabbing Turner, Favors, Cousins or even Aldrich. I just hope we steer clear of Greg Monroe even if he decides to change his mind about staying another year, he is a 7ft point guard it's terrible. I think the reason why I dislike his game so much is because of his frame, if he would park his butt down low he'd be a SERIOUS center in the league.

It's gonna be a deep draft this year for sure as I think most of you already know. I really think no matter where we land in the lottery we will find whatever we need.

Looking at his kenpom.com stats I don't like his low 18,0 DR% and low FTA/FGA rate.
What I'm pointing at is
1) He's not a really good D-rebounder
2) For a guy who creates a lot of offense he doesn't draw a lot of fouls. Cole Aldrich who is a roleplayer on offense shot 10% more FTs.

It's easy to park *** when guys that are pushing you out are 2 inches shorter and 40 pounds lighter.

Not sure who your talking about in the first part. Udoh or Samhan?

You gotta believe Samhan is going to get a decent push in the draft with his stong play in the tournament. Best player on the floor for the first half in todays game and dominated there first round game... Hes been really impressive. I have Nova winning today, but im rooting for St.Marys anyways .. love how they play basketball.

I share your sentiment, I have Nova winning but wouldn't mind a St. Mary's win. Samhan is a bad *** mofo, on top of his scoring and rebounding he is a good team leader too.

Just curious, but after having watched Udoh play quite a few games, don't you think some of that is due to how Baylor uses him. While Baylor is big up front, their also very thin, so its important for their big, especially Udoh to stay out of foul trouble. I've noticed that he gets more aggressive at the end of games if he's only got a couple of fouls on him. I'm sure you'll agree that Baylor isn't the same team when he's not on the floor.

Other than stats, is there a reason you don't like him. I mean I look at stats just like the next person, but I place more value on what I see when they play.

I wouldn't say I don't like him. Rather I'm a little suspicious about him having weaknesses that can really limit where he fits on virtual title contender later in his NBA career. You very rarely see guys with below average rebounding being a starter on such a team.

OK, I see your point. Of course I can project whatever I want, but that doesn't mean it will happen. If I had to choose between him and Monroe though, I think I would take Udoh. Even though Monroe is obviously more skilled offensively, I think Udoh is a better all around player that plays both sides of the ball. But its always a crap shoot. My preference would be to get Cousins and then Udoh with a second first round pick. Neither of those things is likely to happen.

Nice game by Samhan. 32 points and 7 boards, of which 6 were defensive rebounds. I think he had a couple of blocks also. Not hurting himself in the draft.. It sort of went unnoticed yesterday, but Keith Benson the 6'11" center form Oakland had a nice game in the loss to Pittsburg. 28 points and 9 rebounds. also had a block and 3 steals. He's a pretty athletic player, but has a narrow frame that I doubt can carry a lot of weight.

Watching Udoh right now: counted 3 times he makes 1-2 steps towards the ball to contest (he shows very good timing) and then he just freezes in no position to get a rebound.
Another thing - he got an off. rebound and there's 3 guys around him. He brought the ball down - never got it up. Definitely not Tim Duncan.

Yeah he definitely has the habit of bringing the ball down at times in traffic. However so does Favors. Not an unusual habit, but not a good one. I doubt there's anyone in the way of a big thats without flaws, or limits on one side of the ball or the other. I'd definitely take Aldrich over Udoh. But after Aldrich and Cousins are gone, the door is wide open.

Well Northern Iowa just screwed up my bracket.. Believe it or not, I had St. Mary's making to the sweet sixteen. Ought to be a good game. St. Mary's against Baylor.. Gotta be a huge disappointment for Kansas. It wouldn't surprise me to see Cal beat Duke. A matchup of similar teams.

Omar Samhan's next game is the one to watch. He'll be going up against Baylor's big front line. I have no doubts that he can score at the next level. He has an excellent post game. Great footwork. Knows how to seal his man or turn away from the double team with a quick spin move. He's very crafty around the basket and pretty good from the basket out to 10, 12 feet. He's a good rebounder. Knows how to use his body to get proper position. On offense he reminds me a lot of Brook Lopez.

The question that I have is he Brook Lopez on defense. His man defense looks OK, but can he defend the pick and roll at the NBA level? Not saying he can't. My gut tells me that he's going to be better than advertised. How much better is the question. I can't wait to see the St. Mary's/Baylor game..

Man...Evan Turner is getting double, even triple teamed in the game so far. I didn't watch the whole Syracuse game, but from what I saw Wes wasn't getting this kind of treatment...

Never said they were the same, but Turner is the superior player of the both SMH. From what i've seen so far Wes plays without the ball, non-dominant. Meanwhile Turner can do both, but the problem is that Turner has no choice but to run the point because Ohio St.'s guards aren't very good.

I don't think you'd find many people who'd disagree that Turner is the better player. In fact, I don't think that you'd find many people that would even bother comparing the two. It should go without saying.

Not sure how many saw it since it was long after the game was decided, but I think Cousins showed vs. Wake Forest today that his reputation as a loose cannon is overstated. Chas McFarland was doing everything he could to try and get Cousins to lose his temper. McFarland is known for doing this, and has gotten other opposing players kicked out of games this season. He was swinging elbows and taking some cheap shots at Cousins when he thought the refs weren't watching. In garbage time he took a swipe at Cousins' head and got an intentional foul, but Cousins didn't take the bait and start a fight or anything. He got up and clapped, and that was that. I think he has shown a lot more maturity a lot as the season has gone on.

Evan Turner almost had a quadruple double! 24pts 9rebs 9asts 9tos
Lol yeah the defense was smothering him all day with double, triple, and i even saw 4 guys at one point of the game trying to stop Turner...but that guy is just too good. As you can see I really like Evan Turner. :D
