Agree. I like Pierce as a player and if we could get rid of Salmons I wouldn't mind adding him for half a season. I'd much rather have Allen though...

As the capt said, you can't trade a number one, unless its in the year 2017, or the Hickson trade is consumated. I'm fine with dumping Salmons straight up, but thats it. I don't want to give away the bank for a player thats on the decline and is gone in two years. Besides, dumping Salmons straight up for Pierce is what makes this trade attractive to Boston. They add cap space and save money in the short term.
You can't add him for a half-season unless you find a way to trade him over the summer. He's got this year and next year left, and THEN a $5M buyout for the following season.

The more I think about it, the more i like the Pierce idea. He's 34 but he's still in pretty good shape. His contract runs just about the right length (3 years) and isn't really that expensive considering the caliber player he is. He could lock up the SF position for the next three years and bring a strong veteran presence with championship experience. He could also help sell some tickets which couldn't hurt either. The Kings could probably get him without giving up too much too if Boston is really looking to blow it up. Basically I'd pull the trigger on this trade as long as it didn't involve Evans or Cousins. Thornton and Salmons for Pierce. Works salary wise and helps both teams. I'm sure some people will have a cow at involving Thornton. To those people I'd say, i think you're undervaluing Pierce and the kind of impact a player like him could have on this team. Thornton is a nice player but he's very one dimensional and i don't see him as a foundation piece on the level of Evans and Cousins.

Nah, thanks. Pierce is good and all, but really not a great fit now. I'd rather get that experience at a PG position, calling plays. I wouldn't turn him down, but if I were trading pieces I would get something that could complement the mentality of the team more.

The only thing I'd offer is salmons capspace. If ya'll proposing anything else is giving too much. Read the article where ainge tells about th e offers red was getting. He wants some value for his aging vets.

Right, because the Celtics are going to move their franchise player for cap space and take on a bad contract like salmons in the process, lol. You guys are too much.

i didn't say ainge would accept it. ppl are offering way too much for aging vets. no thanks unless they want salmons and capspace. the only thing i see from this is mediocrity. we get that flash in the pan for a year or so until the aging vets are ready to retire.

Pierce is 34, will be 36 when his contract ends. That's not too old to play. He's still top 5 at his position, which also happens to be the Kings weakest position. A guy like Pierce could have a lot of value to a team like the Kings over the next few years. Potentially much more than a one dimensional black hole/gunner like Thornton. i like Thornton but he's a classic hot/cold shooter who isn't worth much when he's cold and will take lots of bad shots. I just don't see how giving up a player like Thornton for a player like Pierce is too much, unless you just think Thornton is the next Jason Terry or something.

Thornton to me is more like a firestarter off the bench- which is where he should be. Pierce could do well here, if the price is low. Of course, we could always wait for things to implode in NY and take a chance on one of their "stars", but would cost much more.
For me, I'd trade Greene, Garcia, and Salmons for Pierce and Moore. They get a smaller chunk of a contract to deal with, and an instant fill in that position. Plus, they add a young shooter (Greene) and a serviceable swingman (Garcia) into their rotation at a low cost. We get a proven shooter up in years and contract dollars, and a young guard for roster filler. Not bad.

Since when does anyone view Donte as a young shooter? Cisco is not a low cost either, for the little production he provides. The importance he has in our locker room most likely wouldn't be the same in a more veteran locker room such as Bos.

thats your opinion. i think pierce is close to retirement. he's gonna lose a step or two if he hasn't already. MT has more value than pierce in our situation. if we were on the cusp on winning a championship, MT would be shipped out ASAP

Yep, if the celtics did want to move him they'd be looking for a nice young package + picks coming back.
He took a while to develop though so, we just have to hope one of our players can get to that level in a year or 2.

I don't think we need any of those three guys. Not because they are not good enough or old, but because I don't see them coming to Sacramento and giving 100%. They would be really disappointed if they get traded to the Kings. They are stars, in the last 1 or 2 years of their careers, and they want to compete for a championship for sure.
The Kings right now need a playmaker. And when I say playmaker, I don't mean a pass first point guard. Sure, we could use a passing PG, but now we really need someone who can direct people on the floor. That's our main problem. Tyreke is not this kind of player. Nobody is in this team. Last year the only one was Beno, but now he is gone. We could use someone like Hedo. He is not a PG, but he has playmaking skills. He is not a great defender, he is old and his contract is huge. But, I'd like to see him back. We have money to spend, and we are not going to get big FA. I believe this team would improve with a guy like Hedo. He is not a star, but he is a veteran guy with playoff and finals experience. Someone who was here during the glory days. Someone who will be respected. If we could also get rid of Salmons getting him, it would be great!
