Prediction Poll #18.

Its a given Boogie will start. Its almost as much a given that Reke will start. The rest...questions at every position. So who do you think will end up with the most starts this season amongst our various platoon level personnel?

i think IT will start at the PG all season
Thompson will start at the PF until T Rob takes that spot from him(not saying it will happen this season but it could)
idk who will start the season as the starting SF but i think James Johnson will eventually earn the starting spot full time
And Reke starting at the 2

I went with JT. He complements DMC better than any other Big on the kings. He also has the size to guard any Big in the NBA. Also JT runs the floor very well.

If our starting lineup ends up being

Pg: Thomas
SG: Thornton
SF: Evans
PF: JT
C: Cousins

I will be so damn pissed off. Thornton needs to come off the bench, assuming Tyreke steps his game up. Johnson starting at SF gives us some semblance of balance, and adds a legit 20 ppg scorer to our bench. This team was much better when Tyreke came off the bench, it should be no different with Thornton off the bench.

This is a tough call. I have to figure that Salmons, Outlaw, and Robinson are unlikely to top the group in starts - Robinson because I don't think he'll have a chance to seize the starting spot from JT until later in the season, and Salmons and Outlaw because the situation at the 3 would look pretty unsettled. If there's to be any stability there at all I assume it would be Johnson starting regularly, but I'm sure there will be enough mix-and-match to keep him to 50-60 starts even if he's the regular guy.

Brooks and IT are fairly interchangeable, IT has the benefit of spending a year in the system, Brooks the benefit of being a longtime Petrie target and a vet. I think Brooks gets the starting nod to open the season, but when he gets cold, IT steps in and vice versa. Hard to see either of these guys getting more than 60 starts, and I really don't know which one will get more in the end.

Thornton is a tough one - we know he's starting caliber, but with the experiment of Tyreke at the 3 hopefully ended and two small PGs who need time, Evans is almost certain to start at the 2 over MT23. I think Thornton takes the bench Ginobili role for us in all the best-case scenarios, so I don't see him racking up a lot of starts anymore.

That leaves JT. He'll certainly start early in the season, he's durable, and I think there will be some inertia to prevent Robinson from sliding in front of him. Robinson will have to really outplay JT to take the spot this year, and I don't think what we saw in Summer League bodes too well for that prospect. I like JT, but I'd be ecstatic if Robinson could straight up beat him out by the middle of the season. I just don't see it happening. I'll give JT 70+ starts, and with that I think he wins the poll.

If I could have voted for two players it would have been JT and IT. I think both will start every game, barring injuries. I don't see Robinson taking away the starting position from JT this season, and I think its unlikely that Brooks will surplant IT at PG. The dark horse is Salmons. I really doubt he'll end up starting at SF, and if so, I doubt he'll hold that position all season. But there's no doubt that the position with the most instability is the SF position. Its up for grabs, but I do believe that whoever wins that job in training camp will get every chance to keep it.
