Prediction Poll #10.

John Salmons is a sexy sexy man, the Kings own suave and debonnaire secret agent. He's smart, he's stylish, he's an inspirational leader of men, and he's completely bewitched Geoff Petrie, who probably has designs on making him another co-assistant GM alongside Shareef so the three of them can have hours long meetings where not a word is spoken.

Before that inevitable glorious day, what do you think his primary role will be as this season moves along?

Salmon's role on this Kings team is tough to predict. I think (hope)Thornton will be traded before that season starts. In that case, my vote of back-up SG, his best position. If Thornton isn't then who knows, back-up for anyone who drops.

You probably needed an all of the above. Salmons is a jack of all trades. He's sort of good at everything, but not great at anything. I suspose that he'll sort of fill in where needed the most. I believe his best position is at SG. He's a good ballhandler, and quite capable of bringing up the ball, but I don't really like him at PG. He has a tendecy to over dribble and burn clock. My preference is that he be traded, but thats unlikely at this point.

He does add depth to the bench, and if used properly, a motivated Salmons could be very useful. Especially on defense.

Backup sf. He doesn't have good size at SF, but off the bench it's not a big issue.

I agree with him being a great backup at SG if they move Thornton. Tyreke's backup should ideally get 15 min, and Salmons should still be able to contribute at that level.

If Brooks struggles/gets hurt I would like to see a Jimmer/Salmons duo. Salmons handling the ball, Jimmer running around Hayes screens, Trob hustling, and Outlaw/Garcia spotting up. That is the kind of bench where all players involved fit in.

Salmons is an ok player, decent at just about everything, but not above average at anything either. Thats the problem hes one of our highest paid players and is just ok at everything. Anyways if he doesn't get amnestied (likely won't) i see him having the same role he had last year before injuries, being the sf of the second unit, with less pg duties due to a combination of Isiah, Brooks and hopefully an improved Jimmer.

I chose backup SG, but he will handle the ball a lot. This is Salmons we are discussing after all. Thornton or Evans will be traded I predict.

Unfortunately the amnesty deadline for this year has passed already. So if were to amnesty him, it would be next year. Problem is, its unlikely we would use it next year since it would guarantee the last year of his contract. He has two years left on his contract after this year, but the second one isn't guaranteed.

If they use amnesty on him, the second year becomes guaranteed. Whereas, if we don't use it, next year would be his last year. So I doubt the Kings would agree to pay out an extra 7.5 mil that they don't have to. However, he will become more tradable with only one year left.

I went with "backup sg" but would really have preferred a "cut bait" option.
