Ha, I was just going to start a thread on this under the title "it has to be asked".
My premise was this: if the Kings got lucky with the ping pong balls next week, moved into the Top 3, would you trade that for Kevin Love?
Alternately I suppose you could ask if we stayed at #7 would you trade everything in the franchise not tied down/named Cousins for Love?
Anyway, the huge huge caveats would be.
#1 -- rumor/indication has long been that Love wants to play in a major market, or at the very least for a playoff team. We are neither. now on the second though I think we could be with him, but such a risk with him able to leave in a year, and Cousins' prickly personality not necessarily inspiring stay with us loyalty.
#2 -- Love/Cousins pairing defensively has some of the same problems as Love/Pekovic. Now on both ends because of superior talent I flat think cousins works better. Already a better defender, better rim protector, more versatile offense than Pek. BUT, also not the defensive stopper like Noah that most see as Love's ideal frontcourt mate.
of course on the flipside:
#1 -- gerbil has already made one trade with Minnesota. He's proven he knows/can work with them (of course on the flipside any #7 and all the junk in the trunk deal would normally involve DWill, which obviously would not work back to the Wolves).
#2 -- Cousins Love on sheer talent/productivity might be the 2, or 2 of the 3, most raw numbers dominant bigs in the game. Despite flawed pairing they shouldn't interfere too much with each other on offense, and you would be getting explosive numbers out of your frontcourt every night.
