Kenny Thomas is out for the year....

Oh, man, what a time to lose our least productive player!

Why couldn't he have stuck it out through the end of the season, and then taken the next few years off instead?

Rats, I hope Stern doesn't accuse us of making up injuries for our best player in order to tank more efficiently :o

Seriously, though, it sucks to get injured, whether youre Kenny Thomas or not. However, should Justin Williams have been rubbing his hands with glee and grinning like the Cheshire Cat when he heard this piece of news, I would understand him perfectly.

This is really bad news. KT's injury might result in more wins for the Kings...I am really in tank mode right now and and hoping that we can climb up the draft sweepstakes.

I feel dirty for this, but I must say that this is my opinion too at this point of the season (well, after the Lakers game). The only nine games in my life that I wish to see KT as our starting center are these upcoming ones.

Oh well. Who wants to bet that Muss will sub himself in as the backup 4 instead of letting JWill2 play?

He chipped a bone in his toe a couple of weeks ago. It's actually a legitimate injury and playing on it is increasingly painful... It's not a fake injury.

Hmmm...the Sonics shut down Ray allen, the Blazers shut down Zach Randolph, and we...shut down Kenny Thomas.

Somehow I still don't think we quite understand the basics of this whole tank idea. ;)

You know, I don't know whether to laugh, cry or go out and kick a tree. I'm resuming my infamous search for a time machine. April 19 sounds like a good target date...just in time for Musselman's farewell party.

I know you have no idea about this but what are the odds Mussleman is gone just before April 19? it seems like alot of speculation is growing about his last season as a Kings coach ( who would've thought that after he signed with us ).

anyways i hope there is alot of major changes in store do you expect alot of that this summer?

I have been looking at this forum for the last two years and I just could not resist this topic.

I have one question-

Can we Sign Tonya Harding to a 10 day Contact? She can jump higher, she just may be faster, she is definitely stronger, and she just might provide enough distraction around the basket for this sorry team of ours to get a few more rebounds!!!!

Yea, Yea I know! She is just as volatile as Ronny and yes she will have to be frisked before each game to make sure that she does not have any knifes or other weapons!!! But heck, she sure could make life interesting!!!!!!!:D :D

There is NO real reason to fire him before the end of the season. The Kings aren't going to make the playoffs regardless of who is at the helm. It's just not going to happen.

I don't know, of course, that they are going to fire him but every instinct I have tells me he won't be around for draft day.

Only one problem with your Harding scenario... I don't think they'll let her use her skates and I'm not sure she could jump without them.

BTW, welcome to Kingsfans.com.

:)

thank the lord he's out for the rest of the season. not good that he's injured, but he'll live. i'm glad i wont have to watch him jog that rediculous jog up and down the court. he sucks. justin williams will get more minutes hopefully and im praying the next time i see kenny thomas on the court it'll be next season on a team other than the kings

To start the search for a new head coach a little earlier is one good reason. Another would be to let the potential candiates know that we are in the market before they start making other plans. I am hoping for a veteran coach with NBA experience and the ability to lead a veteran team and still work with the youth.

He also have a huge chip on his shoulder that is making him think he should be the starter and is too prideful to want to come off the bench. He has just taken on that role the past few games because of his toe injury.

I'm hoping this mean more playing time for Williams, but with Muss at the helm you really never know what the heck the guy is going to do.

Muss has sure done a good job of putting us in tank mode and to break up the streak of playoff appearances, he has done more in 1 year then others in many others. :p

Also a deeper meaning would be to break up the fan loyalty so we can move to another city and further weaken the arena deal we are patiently waiting for to keep the Kings here in Sac.

Oh believe me, I'm pretty sure potential candidates are already circling in the waters like sharks after a wounded whale. They know there's a good to excellent chance the head coaching spot for the Kings will be opening up.

But there is NO reason not to fire him now. He sucks and the league should see that. Let Artest finish the season as player coach. :D Seriously though they could make one of the assistants interm and get some experience or the Petrie do it.

There isn't one coach or potential coach in this league that could do anything with this current squad. If your going to fire muss you better hold a fire sale and start completely over. Players and coaches. Don't do half the job, do all of it.

^^^there are many on this board who would agree with you. The truth of the matter is the coach is most easily replaced part........thank goodness.

I disagree I think we are missing a PF. The rest of the team is undercoached. The team isn't perfect. I would say any other team in the league doesn't have superstars at every postion. We have three former allstars, one that was defensive player of the year, another that might get most improved, and the best PG never to make the allstar team. Yeah they look bad this year, doesn't mean they have to suck forever. We aren't ever going to trade everyone away, might as well forget that idea, it's impossible. We MIGHT be able to deal one big salary guy this offseason, MAYBE. We also have a lot of young guys with potential that need to be developed. There probably isn't team in the league that has a younger bench with more potential.

You're so right, if we shut down a guy for the rest of the year it would be Ron to be up to par on the teams to the North of us! :p

There goes the rest of the season....winning at the end and screwing up our lottery position that is!!! ;-)

Shutting down K9 will actually result in more wins even if our young undrafted rookie Wiliams is the starter instead of SAR. I sure hope we do play Williams and have SAR backing up 4/5, but how seniority goes, it will probably be the other way around unfortunately.

Oh my. I hope that was a joke. If not you really really need to get the purple tint toned down on your shades -- just can't be legal.

I can only assume you are tagging our two undrafted scrubs, 1 unplayable tweener #19 pick, and yet to establish himself as a rotation roleplayer #23 pick as the young bench with the most potential in the league? Oh my.
