Kendrick Perkins

Entity

Hall of Famer
Brad Miller and Vitaly POT. for Kendrick Perkins and Raef Lafrentz.

reason Boston does it. They Get experience and a good passing center to go along with the PP and the other young talent they got.

reason we do it. We get 2 shot blockers one with a bad contract (3 years around 30mil left) but brads is 4 years about 35mil so what do you do. Anyway with the new dynamic of the team Brad unique passing skills are wasted and his rebound is suspect to say the least. Perk is alot better rebounder and shot blocker. Now with Raef we could use him to spread the floor if we get Bonzi and Artest punishing on the inside. Raef is a great 3 point threat and a competent shot blocker. Neither got much time after Kandi man got there.

I would absolutely love to get Perk here. The Celtics are my second fav team, so I've seen him play alot. But Boston won't do that deal. Their defense is horrible and they give up their ONLY shotblocker for a carbon copy of Raef Lafrentz with a worse contract and a useless stiff. BTW Raef is not a very good defensive player even if he gets a block or two a game.

Can't do it. Just can't do it. Although there is something interesting about a Reaf/Brad combo if that were to happen.

I like/follow both teams, can't see this improving Boston in any way and I think we could do better for Brad.

Er...would that something be softest melanin deprived frontcourt combo in the history of the league? ;)

Yes, if Al Jefferson is in it.

Again....

Brad for Kendrick Perkins and Al Jefferson.

Al Jefferson is one of the building blocks for the Celtics future along with Green and Nelson. No way they make that trade.

Agreed! Brad is soft...Raef is softer. How quickly we forget the way Vlade, CWebb and Pollard absolutely punked Raef in that 2002 series with the Mavs. The boy wouldn't even go in the lane on offense and preferred to stay out near the 3-pt. line. Granted, on offense it would spread opposing defenses, but on D, he's just as soft as Brad if not softer. I'm sure centers in the Jerome James category would love it though. After abusing us for a playoff series, they could get a big moeny contract out of it!

No, Raef is not the guy we are looking for at C, but Perkins is. But if we wanted to get rid of Brad for Perkins, then having Raef in the trade to match salaries isn't that bad of a deal. He's much better suited defensively to play the four. If we did Brad and Potapenko (or Hart or some combo like that) for Perkins and Lafrentz, I'm sure we could put Raef to good use as a backup 4 behind SAR. Then handcuff K. Thomas to Bonzi and get another another center. SAR and Lafrentz at the 4, and Perkins either starting or baking up the five would be a good foundation of a solid defense/offesnsive frontcourt. Any thoughts to this?

In the games I saw of the Celtics this year, it seemed that they were pretty high on Perkins. I sure didn't get the impression they would make a lateral move with Lafrenz and Miller with him JUST being a throw in.

Or one of the deadliest outside shooting PF/C combo's in history.

Imagine the spacing that would create. And Raef isn't that soft. He would be a HUGE improvement on Kenny defensively, he can still protect the rim. Just that contract is a problem.

I would see it more as a lateral move talent wise as Miller for Perkins, and then LaFrentz being the throw in who makes the salaries match. But you are right, they probably would not do that trade as it stands. Danny Ainge has made some odd deals before though. Maybe giving up Corliss or Potapenko's contracts and taking on a bad one of theirs (Scalabrine, Dickau) would do it...
