"Chad Ford is a tool for agents."

Jerry right out of the box with a zinger!

Usually several busts in top 10 picks. Hard to know for sure.

On RR workout/visit - lot he could tell us, but he isn't going to. Good kid. Individual workouts don't necessarily tell you much. Thinks agents shouldn't put their clients in those situations. Longer workouts with other players (3 on 3, etc.) are better.

Workouts are a small part of evaluation - look at their body of work and lots of video.

Try to do some psychological testing to see how they would fit in.

On Thabeet - tough to find big guys. Holes in his game, but everyone in the draft has holes in the game. Long, athletic, can block shots. Can he play at NBA level?

Joking about Saer Sene - "maybe he's just in a slump." ;)

Curry has passing skills, didn't have anyone to pass it to in college. Has that nice NBA skill of shooting the ball into the basket. Robertson and West played forward in college and were great guards in the NBA.

Likes today's technology ability to put together tapes of every, say, pick-n-roll situation that player was in.

Petrie will pick the best player available regardless of what media, etc., hypes.

Points to Thompson as an example.

(radio interference - sorry)

Probably won't move up in the draft (from 4 to 2, for example) - not enough pieces to give away in order to do so and still remain competitive (paraphrasing here). They will get a good player at 4. There are two or three guys the Kings will be happy with and one may be better than the others, but no mention of name from JR.

To me he sounded adamant: The Kings will not trade up in this draft. Seemed annoyed at the thought, given there wasn't an obvious superstar in this draft. I believe him. I don't think they will trade up. Also, I believe the guy he likes more than the others is in fact Rubio.

I completely agree, I couldn't help but think that all of his comments were about Rubio, and I got the impression that he really hopes he is there at the fourth pick so he can dawn the Kings cap.

To me it almost sounded like he knows who they are going to pick (if available) and to me I got a feeling it was not Rubio. I say this because he said something like: the person that they pick at 4 may not be a pick that is very popular at first, but come December they will come to like the pick or see why they made the decision they did.

Hopefully someone else heard this and can correct me if I heard this incorrectly...

I heard that comment too, and I was thinking that may have been a reference to the pick not being a consensus within the organization, but that is just completely my observation or hope who knows... I can't wait for Thursday.

Probably just smoke to fans and other teams that Kings are open to drafting anyone. He's not showing his cards at all.

I agree JR sounded quite pro-Rubio. However, he seemed to be cautioning that the kid may not be there at #4, team unlikely to trade up to get him and thus - some other player may be the pick Kings fans will hopefully embrace down the line.

On a side note: Grant Napear to interview Geoff Petrie at 1pm today streaming at Kings.com and have him back later this afternoon on his KHTK SportsLine radio show.

Was this in response to if the Kings would trade the pick or if they would move up? Because this statement still presents the option of moving back.

That sounds about right PurpleHaze. That is a good take on what he said. I am going to listen to the Petrie interview at 1:00pm, but I am guessing he is going to be a little harder to read then Jerry. Petrie interviews usually give you more questions than answers!!!

SOunded like the pick would not be Rubio... due to the unpopular player they will pick @ 4
They may think that Rubio will be gone before the 4th pick, so they won't be able to take the "most popular" player. I'm actually beginning to think Rubio will be off the board before the 4th pick.

My read of that is: If Rubio gets taken ahead of the Kings, don't be surprised if they pick Flynn.

Yes, although he didn't address moving down. I think they will take whoever is avaialble that they like at 4 and not move up/down from this pick - sounded like they had several players to choose from and would take what they could get here. Obviously doesn't preclude moving on other picks, though......

One other thing. Reynolds sounded pretty stressed. I know I'm totally speculating, but I think he thinks OKC will probably take Rubio. OKC has drafted very, very well. If they think Rubio is the best player available, they could easily take Rubio, even though he's not the best fit (Harden probably is). They might figure that they can trade him or Westbrook down the line for a big if it doesn't work out.

If he was stressed I don't think it is as much about who gets picked where, as much as him being told to be very careful about what he says on air. He needs to sound very nuetral when talking to the Rise Guys. One slip up could tell exactly who they want to draft.

Agreed. I think he was just being careful, not stressed.

They would be better off taking Evans. Then take offers on trading down. IE The wolves at 6 + one of their later picks. They could then get flynn.

What, you don't like generalities, hyperboles and analogies?

Seeing how JR was speculated to be the guy in the FO most likely to be spreading disinformation to authors of mock drafts, it's the perfect follow up, don't you think?

I expect no valid clues, but some of those interviews are worth listening to just for the oodling.

I have a different interpretation. After the lottery was held, Reynolds had a long talk with Grant about various players, including Rubio and Evans. He was pretty darned relaxed, and he was pretty darned candid. Now, he he is anything but relaxed. I think he's worried they aren't going to get the player they want.
