Josh Smith

Ive heard many people on different threads that show interest in Josh Smith and decided to make one thread for all the opinions on Josh Smith. In my opinion i would love to have this guy on our team. He would be a perfect addition with our young core.

Im one of those people who have expressed intrest in J-Smith. The odds of the kings signing him this year are poor to say the least. The best way to get him is to wait until next year and hope he stays put in Atlanta one more year until his contract expires. Getting rid Miller and Moore's contracts are of great importance in order to get this done.

Josh Smith is my favorite player outside the Kings. It would be wise of him to sign with a team like us because that way he gets to grow with the rest of our youngins and be a part of a team that will no doubtedly be a contender in a few years. On the other hand we are Sacramento and he'll probably just want to go to the Lakers or Mavericks or some other big name team.

Its all about the money with these guys sometimes if we offer the most money he will have no problem coming here. Shoot Josh childress just went to Euro land for the money instead of playing in the nba as a whole.

Smoove on the Kings would make me happy indeed.

Guy's a work in progress offensively, but pretty young (I think 22) and is already a havok causer on the offensive end with his 1.5 steals and 3 blocks per game.

I really like the thought of a Smoove/Thompson/Hawes frontline. One of the tallest in the league. And also one of the youngest, which is good and bad.

same here the front court will be soo solid with those 3. The last peice of the puzzle would be drafting Brandon Jennings next year and see how Bobby Brown develops and we could be conteders in no time.

We are such a young team its ridiculous....when we let go of miller, thomas, jackson, and sar in the next 2 years our team will have an average age of like 26 or 27. I say we send Miller, Shelden, Quincy and Rockets 1st for Smith.....or any combination of picks and players besides Garcia, Thompson, Hawes and Martin. I want this guy.

It would take a lot more than that. We couldn't even offer them Martin (not that I'd really want to) since they already have Joe Johnson. At least Garcia would have to be involved, and probably Spencer too. Miller is still a good center in the league, but he's not that good. As far as we can tell, the Bulls won't part with Noah for him, and Smith >>> Noah. If we had any real chance at Smith, it left for Houston a few days ago.

Our best chance at getting Smith lies in him signing a 1 year deal, and us clearing enough cap room to sign him in free agency next year. The odds are still very slim, however.

ive been saying for a while that we need to do a 3 way trade with philly for josh smith...

miller to philly
dalembert to hawks
smith (s&t) and filler to kings

we could even throw in thompson or greene....

Why, on Gods good earth, would you throw in Thompson or Greene? Do we have to take two steps backward for every step forward. Don't get me wrong. I love Josh Smith. And if you want to trade Miller, Salmon's, Moore, or Douby to get him, fine. Throw in a first round pick if you want. But leave the young core alone, and build on it.

I don't think the Hawks would take Dalembert for Smith anyways....And there is no way in hell we throw Greene or Thomspson in...theres a good chance that at least one of them will become as good or better than Smith and a small chance both of them will be.

I would never throw in thompson or greene,it would be more likely for us to throw in cisco, just cause sf for sf, if they want one of our good young players, i say no

I would trade any of the players on the Kings to get Josh Smith. He is a future all-star in my opinion. He's athletic, he's defensive, he's young. His one flaw is his offense, which is developing. I consider him one of the best potential players.

you people.... neither has played a single nba game yet... but i would assume that the hawks would want something in return... how about the rockets 2009 1st instead.... they just signed evans so i doubt they need garcia, douby or salmons.... if you want to include moore we would have to take back claxton... that or pay josh smith 17 mill a season... i like him but not that much....

why is this being discussed at such length. it isnt happening. besides he isnt worth a max contract. but what the hell they would definatley want a SF in return so salmons would go but not sure who else. millers contract is to big.

I dont want smith anymore because we just got greene for 1million a year whereas Smith would be the same position for 9 million a year.....hmmm i think ill go for the guy who earns less because there will be more incentive to perform. gaurenteed contracts are what they are.

Would we even be able to afford Smith is the question? The last comment is so true. I know it isnt basketball, but being a Chiefs fan, that is why I was okay with them getting picks and trading Jared Allen. They get more players they need and Jared Allen strikes me as a guy that will fall off once playing under a new contract (though now that he will be next to two pro bowlers it may be hard to fall off) . He hasnt really shown responsibility otherwise. Just an example that some guys may lose that motivation with the money.

Well...

Smith is a proven talent who still has a ton of upside. Chances are he has a lot of allstar appearences in his future. Greene on the other hand is someone who hasnt played a single NBA game and raised a lot of red flags in summer league with his chucking. He could turn out good, but he could also end up out of the league at the end of his rookie contract.

I mean, would you rather have Brian Skinner then Dwight Howard because Skinner plays the same position and costs less? You get what you pay for.

I would have no problem signing Smith to a contract at about 11.5 mill a year. Getting a expiring contract in a trade for Miller should be a top priority.
