John Wall in 2010? (split from Beno thread)

I'm not disagreeing with this at all. He may be a great player. He's got great potential. He just isnt a PG plain and simple. What did the Kings need most? What was our biggest weakness last year? Do you really think we addressed it with this pick? I dont.

I'm fine with the pick if it means we're making other moves. Otherwise it's on to hoping for John Wall in 2010...
LOL john wall. what has he done? He is more of the described ball hog than Evans ever was. He has not shot all he can do is dunk. I know you haven't seen him play. so you are going by the youtube videos. Go back and watch how many shots he takes outside of 10 feet. if you like Wall you should love Evans.

Uh, no. Wall is a true PG with a ridiculous handle. He goes anywhere he wants to go, sets up anybody he wants to set up, sees the whole floor, and is lightning fast. Much different beastie than Evans. Even after shifting to the point last year Evans was a 3-4 assists guy many/most nights. Wall projects out to twice that.

Neither can really shoot at this point, but that is a common issue with young guys who are dominant going to the hoop.

Where do you see this at? All I have seen of him is dunking highlights. In fact the video I saw showed the same dunks more than once and 1 particualr shot block 5 times. I never saw a pass or anything that indicates court vision.

show me where I can see that.

Ok, guess I will post this one again, although there are others. In here we've got drop offs, no looks, a wraparound, touch passes, an alley oop, my favorite is probably the triple teamed step back fading into the corner laser to a cutter -- these things are always dunk/scoring centric, and for a talent of this magnitude its always far too easy in high school so why pass. But the skills are obvious.

If he's next year's consolation prize for this BS... I'll take it!

Ok Wall looks good. but after having the worst record and still not getting a top 3 pick. i am over the hoping for the 1st pick thing. I hope like hell we don't get the idiotice lins and wosses crap this year.

Back to wall he looks good. So did Mullens and Holiday last year. Video editing is a HS players friend. trust me its what I do.

Actually the World vrs USA game which the first clip was from was televised in its entirety. I don't remember which channel, but I watched the whole game. Wall is the real deal. He's a terrific player. I predict he will be the first pick in next years draft and he will be a star. The only thing I didn't see him do in that game was shoot the long ball. Other than that he's like a jet with arms and legs. Extremely explosive.

Wall doesn't have NBA range as of yet but the kid, like you said, is the real deal. Kind of upsets me that the video makes more of a point to show his dunks, but a few of his excellent passes got in there as well. Good BBall IQ, sees the floor, and is an excellent passer although I do think he showboats a bit (which is not a huge deal because he is young and has the skills to showboat).

Kings will be in the running next year for the Wall sweepstakes.. Let's how the Kings finally get lucky.

And that's Gerald Wallace-level athleticism. Wow.

Now we can hope to get lucky enough to get Wall next year to pait him with Evans in the backcourt and trade Martin for a more valuable piece at other position. :D

With Wall-Evans combo you have a beastly backcourt. A true PG with a combo guard who can swing to PG as well. You got length, defense, offence, athleticism etc...the downside is both are great shooters but they can develop that.

If you can get a great PF or C that plays both sides of the ball for Martin we would be a dynasty in the making with Wall and Evans going forward.

Once can only dream I guess! :(

Believe me when I say I know exactly what you are saying. If there's never been a rigged lottery before, we need to find a way to rig the one next summer, and hope Geoff doesn't outsmart himself.

John Wall is freak. Next years draft has some great prospects. Don't be surprised when Derrick Favors gives John Walls some competition for the #1 spot.

#16
Obviously Wall is a hell of a prospect, but Favors and Davis have my interest peaked as well. I know we're thinking more along the lines of defensive minded bigs, but Motiejunas sounds like one of the most offensively talented bigs to come around in quite awhile.

Hypothetically speaking, if the Gods smile upon Sacramento and we are able to get a prospect such as John Wall, what exactly happens? We would have a backcourt of Wall, Evans, and Martin. Assuming Wall is the 2nd coming of amazing, does that mean either Evans or Martin has to go? I am very excited at the idea of Wall, but it is disappointing that him being here would create a logjam.

Are you kidding me?! :)

It would be a great position to be with. If Martin can continue his scoring spree and with his contract there wouldn't be a team in the league that wouldn't be interested in picking him up. If we are lucky enough to get Wall and we play our cards right we could send Martin away with some extra candy to get our frontcourt guy to protect the paint and play both sides of the ball and we are in dynasty mode. Forget Spurs of the 2000s, the Kings of the 2010s are in town and ready to roll.

Who that big is would be an interesting question but if you have Wall and Evans backcourt and a tough role playing SF (take a pick from Casspi, Garcia) and one of our bigs (Spencer or JT) with that other frontcourt player teamed up......It would be ridicilously tough team to beat. You would have everything...toughness, interior and perimeter defence, ballhandling, passing, ability to murder teams off the dribble and flexibility with both Evans and Wall able to play on and off the ball. So many different looks you could throw at the opposition both offensively and defensively.

The FO seems committed to Evans being the PG. If you move Evans to the 2, it basically takes away all of the physical advantage that he has - the reason Kings are so high on him. I think in GP's mind, the PG spot is filled. So if we land the #1 pick next year, it creates quite a dilemma for Petrie. A good dilemma, but a dilemma nonetheless.

... well there we go. It's disappointing that someone (such as Martin) would have to go. I for one, really like Martin.

John Wall looks awesome. And you guys can all forget about getting him! Don't forget that we ARE the Sacramento Kings! The same team that always seems to have that special luck!

John Wall is the man. But I'm not going to waste any time thinking about an Evans-Wall backcourt of death until at least halfway through next season. I swear. :)

If we came up with Wall in the draft we could go after Bosh in a S&T that same offseason. A deal made up of Martin/Evans plus Hawes/Thompson might be enough to do it.

Wall
Evans
Noc
Bosh
Hawes

Bench: Beno, Cisco, Ike, Sergio, Caspi, Diogu, Brockman. Maybe NRob in there as well? If everyone plays up to their potential that could be a dangerous team.

That team still has no interior defence or toughness in players that play majority of the minutes at PF and C.

There needs to be someone on the bench that would the dirty work for us. A new age version of Pollard or similar. Someone like Gortat would be a nice start.
