Joel Przybilla

No one seems to ever mention this guy as someone to replace Dalembert. Why is he so off the radar? He's a defensive big that rebounds and blocks shots. He'll also likely be available for around the MLE. Is there some reason no one considers him that I don't know about? Because to me he seems like a great plan B option and someone who the Kings would have a great chance of actually signing.

I agree, Pryzbilla seems like a likely candidate for the Kings to go after to improve the defense if Dalembert does indeed bolt for greener pastures. He is a bit of an offensive liability, and his age is closer to the John Salmon side than the rest of our core, but his length and range would look good next to Cousins or Thompson to clog the lane.

He is a bit of an offensive liability

A lot of people think that’s the ideal type of center to put next to a player like Cousins. I don’t neccerialy agree, but there is that school of thought.

and his age is closer to the John Salmon side than the rest of our core,

That’s true but the way I see it, the plan right now is to shore up the weaker positions for the next three or four seasons while Cousins, Evens, and Fredette develop. By then, contracts of the older guys should be expiring just as the core are coming into their prime.

How is his health? He blew out his knee Greg Oden style not too long ago.

That's not good. I figured there must have been something. I don't know his injury status but I do know that players coming back from that type of injury in their 30s is a big gamble. But if he were cheap, which he probably would be, it might be worth taking the gamble.

This. He hurt his knee then re injured it last year. He only played 5 games with the Bobcats after the trade deadline. He won't be ready for the start of the season and maybe career ending.

He hasnt been the same since his injury. He looked really bad athletically last year, and he was never a great athlete to begin with. Just very slow and tentative out there.

With that being said, I'd give him a chance. Not in a big role of course, but he's got a mean streak, and he was a very good defender at one point. He'd be a decent 4th or 5th big .. not gonna replace Dalembert though.

we'd have to lock him up for at least that amount with team options after 3 yrs in case he is healthy. 2-3 mill per year or something like that. i don't think he'd bite because some team desperate for some front court size might throw the whole midlevel at him.

Believe it or not, he's going to make ALOT more than that.

i'm sure he will. hes like 7' 280 lbs athletic freak. he's shown flashes of what hes capable of when he's healthy. it's just risky to throw a bunch of money at a player with a history of injuries. i'd love to get him at a good price. however, if someone else wants to gamble on his health, go for it. :)

Nah, that seems a bit steep. I was thinking he could be signed for around the MLE.

I think the risk of the Salmons contract, which is a risk depending on if he mentally checks out or not, negates any opportunity to take a risk on anyone else. Especially a 40M risk.

That's a good point. Especially in regards to someone like Oden who has a much high potential reward factor than Salmons.

I'd personally rather take the risk of offering DA Jordan a 4 yr $35M offer sheet, and dare Sterling to match. yes, the risk is we overpay, but that isn't much of a risk compared to what going after Oden would entail.

how many offer sheets can be offered to teams?

Say we do offer 4yr/$35 and Sterling matches. Can we turn around and give him 5 yrs/$45?

That, I do not know. I would think if you offer a contract, and the player declines, you could offer another contract, since the declining of the first one negates any legal connection.

As much as you have cap room. But there is a downside. That money is tied up till the other team makes a decision which can be up to 10 days on the current CBA. So if something else comes along your SOL.

No. If we offer, next DeAndre has to sign the offer sheet. If he does, Sterling has a chance to match, but one way or another, that's the contract he gets. It's just a question of where.
