Joe Maloof swears Kings will NOT file for relocation next year

Reassuring, nothing. Their word is worth less than dirt at this point. They seem determined to rewrite this whole fiasco in a way that makes them look like the good guys but I'm not buying it. Everything they ever asked for from the city of Sacramento was handed to them on a silver platter and they said "no thanks". They can keep on talking, but their actions speak for themselves.

Are you seriously considering refurbishing or renovating Power Balance Pavilion?

We'll look at everything. We're getting a lot of calls. A lot of our customers like the arena right where it is.

Uhhhhhhhhh what?

The whole renovating Power Balance Pavilion is just bad faith. The Maloofs have argued against that for years know its not an option, they just need an excuse as to why they are not committing to an arena

Get this:

"Two hours before today's 3 p.m. tipoff against the Portland Trail Blazers, they will squeeze back into the arena formerly known as Arco Arena – that same dumpy facility that would have been replaced by a $391 million sports and entertainment complex if they hadn't trashed and burned the handshake agreement last week in New York.
Seriously. No kidding.

Here they come."

Going to be a very interesting scene at ARCO tomorrow.

It's really hard to read that drivel. They are either completely tone deaf morons or insidious psychopaths.

Also, they keep doing this weird revisionist 1984-style history thing that's seriously getting old.

"We didn't (move). We stayed. That's the bottom line" ...

You only stayed because the Board of Governors refused to allow you to move and you collectively threw a fit and stormed out of the meeting.

I'm seriously starting to question the sanity of all three. It's getting kind of scary, to be honest. It's like we're stuck in a bad marriage and the other person's behavior just gets more and more insane and incoherent... I just hope we don't develop a "new normal" for what proper treatment by ownership is. This is completely insane, and I'm going to keep reminding people as long as I see it so we don't forget. These guys' egos are monstrous and out of control, and they are completely unable to let information in from other parties. Talk about a dysfunctional family!

Hard to believe that the ditzy blonde reality tv starlet is probably the most savvy and sane of the Maloof siblings.

the quote is;

That's not true, that's not true. I swear that is not going to happen. I don't care what rumors are out there. It's our team. We're not selling, and we're not leaving. Our identity is the Sacramento Kings. That's how we're known.

I hope its true but we have been here before. From a truly business perspective yes they can potentially get a better deal and are obviously waiting for it - be it in another town or here. I hope its the latter but i very much doubt the city and nba yield and renegotiate the current deal which will only make them look elsewhere

I will not stand for this! Say no to psychological abuse kings fans. PBP is awful Maloofs know it. Dont fall for the hollow flattery.

According to this article they needed a new arena to generate more revenue etc etc. But now that they have revenue sharing it's better to stay in Arco? Revenue sharing makes it easier to stay in Arco or go to the Arena. This makes no sense unless they are worried the team becames a top revenue earner. What are the plans here? To stay at arco and stay a cellar dweller team so they can get revenue sharing?

And they are evidently letting other owners (Thier competition) tell them what to do. They say people are calling them (probably people who are against the new arena). They listen to them but ignore the NBA, David Stern, Kevin Johnson, AEG, the City Council and all the people who showed up to the meetings in white shirts. something is wrong with them.

Not only is he thumbing his nose at Sacramento, he's doing it to David Stern too. Essentially he's saying "We refuse to spend the capitol required to make this team competitive on a level with the rest of the league. Instead we plan to sponge off league profits and retain our ownership as long as possible without contributing anything of our own to the relationship." Sigh.

Agreed. They make demands all these years. Everyone bends over backwards for them and they wilt and leave everyone in the lerch.

What kind of better deal do they expect to get? The cost of an arena is only going to go up. Everyone bent over backwards to bring in investment. But investment cuts thier bottom line. The only thing they could do is put up more money. But they can't even come up with three million dollars. They insist they aren't broke. They are disengenuous to say the least.

Also what happens to Arco in another 5 years? It will be over 30 years old soon. Everyone thinks it is a dump (because the Maloofs let it get run down). If they stay there they will have to sink some money into it.

By now George has a list of every item that the city considers as definitely not interested. They started with the term sheet issues and now working on them in public as "gee whiz ideas". While utterly crazy, it just keeps painting the city as uncooperative. Remember, these guys aren't savvy businessmen. They think like emotionally stunted teenagers.

Hmmm...worth the price of admission to boo them. Maybe they'll set up a dunk machine in the parking lot.

Actually, that's the one thing I believe in the entire article. The Kings WON'T file for relocation. They're simply going to up and move without the permission of the league, likely this summer. Hence the anti-trust lawyer, for the inevitable anti-trust suit when the league objects.

It's gonna take a lot more than a brief conversation with Ailene Voisin for the Maloofs to regain anything close to credibility with this Kings fan. A nice step in the right direction would be for them to truly open their wallets and give Petrie access to some of that vast personal wealth Joe spoke of. Let's see some top quality acquisitions over the summer and see what happens.

The Maloofs are going to be booed today at the arena. There is no doubt in my mind that it will happen. And, quite frankly, they need to hear it. They need to know that Sacramento Kings fans are not going to be placated by a couple of comments. The resentment many of us feel has built up over the years and our relationship with the Maloofs is on life support. Merely changing the flowers in the room isn't going to improve the situation.

I would dearly LOVE to believe Joe, but that time has passed. It's gonna take more than words, a lot more, to convince me they aren't still running some kind of scam.

Something I don't think the Maloofs understand. There have always been fans here that didn't trust the family. There are some that thought the Maloof's would move the team right after they bought it, and have been waiting for the inevitable ever since. No amount of PR would ever change those folks minds. But there is no worse enemy, than the friend you just betrayed. The people on this fourm, including myself, that stood up for the Maloof's, and defended their actions over the years.

I feel like a fool for ever believing them. And, when you lose me, you've lost me forever. I will never, ever, believe anything that comes out of they're mouth. Here's what I have to say to Joe. Talk to me in five years when the team is a top competitive team, and your still here. Otherwise, just shut the hell up!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Exactly how I feel. In the illustrious words of George W. Bush, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, umm, you ain't going to fool me again!"

Their word is no good, they're not to be trusted or believed. I hope they play to an empty building and go broke waiting to move. I will never spend another dime on a maloof product.

Who cares what Joe (or Gavin) have to say? It's clear they are either liars or powerless vs. Crazy King George.

As long as the magoofs remain owners this team will remain crap. And like a lot of you said, theyll be too cheap to stop tyreke from walking next year.

I think I would be more willing to believe a hard core junking swearing to me that the money he is asking me to give him is for a feed than I would ANYTHING that comes out of the Maloofs' mouth!

They are dribbling **** and they know it! Might work for some but it certainly won't work for the majority of Sacramento fans.

You know, this wouldn't surprise me.
