Kings Will Listen To Trade Offers For Tyreke Evans

I'm not arguing against assists. You're putting words in my mouth. I said assists don't correlate to wins...because they don't.

You know what I love?
Every time Cousins kills someone with a beastly post move - 0 assists
Every time Evans pulls a "holy **** did he just make that?" drive - 0 assists

The elite skills of our current players do not lend themselves to high team assist totals. We just are not that team and will not be with our current go-to offensive plays. That's ok too since high assists do not necessarily mean a winning team. We just need our best players to mature and to put a better supporting cast around them IMO.
I agree on liking what you describe, but I disagree on those players not being capable of putting up good assist numbers, because they've done it. In almost every game we won this season, we had over 20 assists. I can list them for you game by game if you want. And the games we didn't, we were close to 20 assists. Cousins is a good passer, and so is Tyreke, and that doesn't take away from the things you described. And if all their talents are used properly, they'll still get their chance to shine, while at the same time contributing to the assist totals of the team.

If your not arguing against assists, then why are you so determined to prove that this team isn't capable of that. Webb was capable of great post moves, but he was also capable of making the great pass. I believe Cousins is capable of that as well. No, he's not as good as Webb was right now, but he's only been in the league two years. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

That's not what I'm doing. Tyreke and Cousins can, do, and should pass well. My posts were in response to the argument being made that:
Tyreke handling the ball this year = fewer team assists = bad. This proving Tyreke shouldn't handle the ball
IT handling the ball this year = more team assists = good. This proving Tyreke shouldn't handle the ball

I disagree with that and was just proving that chasing team assist numbers is a fool's errand and doesn't necessarily lead to more wins and the best plan for this team.

Ahhhh, Gotcha! Well, I'm not involved in that argument. I happen to be a big supporter of of Tyreke's. As I've said before, there's a time and a place for everything. So for Tyreke, it really just comes down to making good decisions. Right now, sometimes he doesn't, but he's still very young, so no surprise there. It seems there always has to be whipping boy. JT had that honor for a couple of years. Now its Tyreke's turn, I guess. Peace with you amigo.

It's not as simple as that. Look at Jamal's statistical analysis of Tyreke. Tyreke has nearly double the efficiency when cutting without the ball than in ISO situations. So it's not just the cost - fewer assists that is caused by taking the ball out of his hands, and the decreased efficiency in ISO situations; it's also the gain - having him move without the ball (taking the ball out of his hands) creates much more offensive efficiency.

Chasing any particular statistical category is a fool's errand if in exchange for improving that stat category you get proportional worse in another statistical category. You don't want a zero sum game. You want a net overall gain. So the idea is to improve assists while not degrading in other stat categories. The Kings improved in assists AND every time Tyreke moved without the ball they improved by his increased offensive efficiency. Now they have to figure out how to improve on the defensive end without getting worse on the offensive end.

Come on, you can't have everything! One out of two isn't bad....:D
