Jimmer is done...

Jimmer is way too unselfish for this team, IMO. Regardless of what other say, he's a pass first PG that hasn't been given an opportunity. Guys like MT, IT, BM, GV, and now the rookie Mccalum are left out there to chuck away without any repercussion...while losing a majority of the games. Jimmer is not accepted here because he's not one of the homies and he's not a chucker. Jimmer plays winning basketball. The rookie, Mccalum, came in and chucked a shot per minute last night like it was a damn free for fall. Jimmer is a unselfish, winning basketball player and he refuses to go out there and chuck to get minutes. MT is left out there nightly getting big minutes and he has been abysmal. Just plain putrid.

Jimmer needs a new team with new teammates. This ain't him.

Not defending his performance at all last night, but wow... he had 9 minutes after a 4+ game stint on the bench. You guys are wolves! Now he didn't capitalize on his limited opportunity earlier in the season, but he has looked good in stretches (even on the defensive end) this season and sometimes last. I'm not one of those fans that tries to make him out to be more than he is, but here's the other side... He played less than half as many minutes as MT last night and put up twice as many points ;).

But the reason MT is getting playing time is that he is on the trading block and they are hoping he has a game of note. Jimmer hasn't been given playing time in the hopes that his value in a package deal wont fall any farther than it already has. BIG difference.

Jimmer is not now nor will he ever be an NBA caliber basketball player. This unbridled "FANBOYISM" surrounding him does not help the Kings or their ability to trade him whatsoever. There is NO NBA TEAM that would trade ANYTHING for Jimmer right now. He is an expiring contract nothing else

I can understand possibly needing him at backup PG right now, but does anyone know why Jimmer wasn't sent to the D-League earlier in the season when the dust was piling up on him? Seems like the opportunity to actually play could have done him some good (or at least not made him any worse).

No need for a thread if that's what you wanted to say... we have a "Jimmer is done" thread going right now and that pretty much expresses similar sentiments to yours, if not the exact same.

FGA per 36 minutes for the 2011-2012 season:

Fredette: 14.1 making 38.6% of them
Thomas: 12.4 making 44.8% of them
Thornton: 16.2 making 43.8% of them

FGA per 36 minutes for the 2012-2013 season:

Fredette: 15.2 making 42.1% of them
Thomas: 14.1 making 44.0% of them
Thornton: 16.1 making 42.9% of them

Hard to say that the other two are chuckers and Jimmer isn't. Now so far this season both Fredette and Thornton are down to 12.3 and 12.6 and a half shots per 36 while IT has increased his to 16.3 per 36 but then again Thomas is shooting about 10% better from the field at 45.7% vs 35.7% and 36.4% respectively. Pretty small sample size for Jimmer though.

I think Jimmer absolutely needs a fresh start somewhere else but nobody on the roster or in the Kings organization is out to get him. He came in as a hugely decorated college player and struggled starting with summer league and then in the regular season culminating in the last player picked in the 2nd round beating him out for playing time. True, Thornton has been terrible this season which is why he was benched and Fredette given his minutes for a few games. The result was no improvement offensively and the team being even weaker defensively.

In a new environment and with reduced (and reasonable) expectations he can still carve out a basketball career in the NBA or elsewhere. Until then he will just need to stay ready and try and contribute when he does get minutes. With Vasquez dealt and Ray Mac not ready, I'm guessing we'll see Fredette backing up IT for a bit partly out of necessity and partly to showcase him.

You know, while I was munching on my Cheerios this morning, I was thinking: You know what KingsFans.com needs? More Jimmer threads. And not just any old Jimmer thread, but a Jimmer thread extoling his talent as a pass-first PG. And his brilliance as a shot-blocking C too. Not to mention his status as first man on the moon, his ability to walk on water, and his efficacy to cure cancer. Thanks OP!

You state this like it's a fact. Did I miss a PDA conference or something?

The joke here is kind of lost now that the thread is not called "Kings Need To Cut Jimmer". Oh well.

My guess is you want be disappointed in this regard. You won't end up feeling like somone P'd in your Cheerios ;)

I think everyone would love it if Jimmer where a good player. We really need a backup point guard. Jimmer looked awkward last night IMO. Sometimes he shows some heart and has some success. But mostly he looks way over matched, out of place and a little slow. Why Petrie drafted him is a mystery to me.

I couldn't add on to my old Jimmer thread because the system won't let let me for some reason.

Good. ;) People are bringing up old threads way too often, IMHO, and it gets confusing. Just because you had something to say about a certain topic at some point in time doesn't mean you need to revive the old thread.

Watching Jimmer last night against the Mavs, he looked lost. His body language looks all wrong. He knows he is done, the Kings know he is done, the fans know he is done.

His value is only for his expiring contract, which means his value is near zero.

I think there is some question of whether Jimmer is in the league after this year. Whether he really got a chance to shine can probably be debated. It's not clear that another chance will ever come.

In my fantasies he has a Jeremy Lin moment on the Knicks....but it also fantasy. So long, Jimmer, we loved you when we loved you.

As far as the comments about Jimmer go, I have to very reluctantly agree. I was truly hoping he would step up and take advantage of the opportunity, but he didn't...and I'm not at all sure he can any more.

Jimmer is too nice. He doesn't command respect on the court, although it's clear from how the rest of the team responded that they like him. He needs a new start somewhere else. I hope he gets it.

Second verse, same as the first.

Unfortunately I think you’re right. His body language said it all last night, he was out there but not there. I was hoping that he’d come in with a chip on his shoulder, play and make some great shots but there was nothing.

I feel bad for him because every time he’s had his chance (except last night) he’s done well but he’s never gotten steady minutes or got to play the next game after his good game (not really given a vote of confidence by our Coach).

I don’t care if we want to showcase Marcus Thornton, teams already know what we have, we don’t need to parade him in order to trade him. He most likely needs a change in scenery and I think a trade is what he needs. I’d rather have Jimmer receive backup minutes (next to a point guard) than have Marcus out there.

In my opinion, Jimmer isn’t a PG & most likely will never be, he needs someone else to make plays (he can handle the ball at times) but I think we need to use Jimmer as a shooter. He’s a willing passer but if he can gain confidence in his shooting stroke he would be great out there (he can shoot it, stay out Cousins way, pass it & cut). When we had Tyreke I always said that we should play Jimmer next to Tyreke.

To be honest, I was actually really shocked that Coach decided to play him. I honestly would still love to see him play here (bench role, next to a PG) but I don’t see that happening. Hopefully he finds a team that is willing to give him time & confidence in him….He needs to just trust himself. He also needs to speed his defense up (which he can do).

I hope he succeeds in this league and I hope he finds a team that he can succeed on. Hopefully he’ll be given another opportunity tomorrow to play.

Unless a trade brings in another Point Guard, You Play Jimmer and Thorton off the bench, Yeah it was a disaster against the Mavs, But if we keep them there consistently maybe their shots start to fall and somebody
Takes either or Both before 2/15.

After 2/15 you play Ray as our backup so he can get a serious look and experience

yeah, kf.com definitely needed another thread about jimmer fredette...

in the absence of greivis vasquez, and barring the inclusion of jimmer in another midseason trade, jimmer will get plenty of minutes with the kings' second unit for the remainder of the season. it's time for him to take advantage of those minutes, regardless of the circumstances. end of story.

With jimmer solidly proving he won't be in the nba much longer the minutes should be for ray, unfortunately ray gave didn't inspire much confidence in his first stint
