Jeremy Lamb

All-Star
Would anyone consider drafting him in the first round and trading Thornton for someone who fits nicely next to Cousins? I love Lamb's size and athleticism. He would be a great defender to add to this team and wouldn't be a bad shooter either.

Would it be possible to pry Favors away from Utah? It could work considering they have Millsap, Jefferson, and Kanter as their other big men. Their main guards are Harris, Earl Watson, Raja Bell, and C.J. Miles. Thornton would give them an immediate scoring presence in their backcourt (all 4 of those players are averaging below 10 points).

Now I know it might not be Thornton for Favors straight up, but it would be something close to it.

If we sign a free agent small forward and amnesty Salmons our lineup could look like this next year:

PG - Evans/Thomas/Fredette
SG - Lamb/Garcia
SF - Batum/Honeycutt/Outlaw
PF - Favors/Hayes
C - Cousins/Thompson/Whiteside

Utah continues to insist that Favors is the future of their franchise. They won't part with him for Thornton.

Bummer. I liked the idea of having 4 of our starters on rookie contracts.

Would you still draft Lamb and look to trade Thornton for another big?

Over drafting a PF/SF and holding on to Thornton? It's not an easy question to answer. I think we have to take a careful look at who's available at our pick. Right now, who knows? But there's a chance that Lamb is there, and is BPA by a decent margin. In that case, you really have to take Lamb and figure out how to plug those other holes. If we're sitting in the #10 range and the FO thinks it comes down to a coin toss between Lamb and Henson (with guys like Quincy Miller/Terrence Jones/Jeff Taylor/Mike Moser in a lower draft tier), then I'd be inclined to go with Henson unless we've managed to line up a knock-out Thornton-for-a-PF-or-SF trade.

Lamb is the best shooting guard in the draft (in my opinion), and in the long term, he should become a better player than Thornton. He's taller at 6'5". He's definitely a better athlete, and at the same stage of his career, he's a better shooter and finisher. But what really sets him apart, is that he's a terrific defender. So if your looking for a shooting guard, you can't go too wrong with Lamb. And for those not up to speed, don't confuse Jeremy with Doron. Same last name, but not the same player, although Doron isn't too bad.

However, I really doubt that Utah would trade Favors for Thornton. I wouldn't if I were them. You might sweeten the deal by adding Hickson into the mix, but I still doubt that they would bite.

He can dish when he drives. That's it. He can't run an offense. That's been the fact staring us in the face for the last three years.

That's debatable. He's been improving as a playmaker. He has shown that he is more willing to get his teammates involved.

I also think he has a higher BB IQ than Thornton. I like Lamb.
