On April 6th 2004 Kings hosted the Hornets and the hospitality was very limited because Kings easily beat Hornets 105-91 to improve to 54-23 for the season. Kings took care of business early and went into a half time with a 19 pt lead. The game was over. Pedja lead the Kings with 26/4/3, Webber added 24/7/6, DC had 15/6/5/2, Bibby had 13/1/4/4. Brad was a monster of the bench with 20/10/1/2/2.
A win over the New Orleans Hornets was a microcosm of the Sacramento Kings' season so far - a super start and a flat finish. The Kings saw a 26-point first-half lead reduced to four points early in the fourth quarter before holding on for a 105-91 victory over the shorthanded Hornets that kept them on top of the Western Conference.
"Sometimes you get a little complacent when you get in the lead, which is not excusable," Kings guard Doug Christie said. "I think we need to focus a little better."
Peja Stojakovic scored 26 points and Chris Webber added 24 for the Kings, who won 45 of their first 60 games but are just 9-8 since, battling injuries, attentiveness and a lack of defense.
"I think sometimes we try to do too much," said Webber, still playing his way back from knee surgery. "Guys really have just got to keep playing their roles. Every pass doesn't have to be a spectacular pass. So I think we'll settle down and hopefully get those turnovers down. That will help."

After the 4th straight lin and 12 lin out of the 14 last tries - Kings droped to 30-44 with 8 games to go. 7 games out of the 8th spot
with 8 games to go and Clippers having the tie breaker - the Magic number is 2 and Saturday might be the day. On the other hand Kings are # 7 ib the lottery race but if we look at the # of wins - Kings are the ties for the 5th worst. With 8 more lins and a little luck we could even be #4 when all is said and done. Finally a goal that this Kings team should be able to accomplish.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
With 8 games left, Kings are 14 games below .500. Still not bad enough but You have to admit that Kings are working much harder on it than they have been before. It was just a matter of finding what You are good at and going for it. And Kings are good at linning. Very good. In fact, with losing 12/14 last games Kings are clearly the worst NBA team in this stretch. Only Hawks come close. Sad/funny part is that we are actually trying to win and play hard. It is almost over anyways.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I mentioned with 8 games to go and being 7 games and a tiebreaker behind the magic# is 2 and on Friday we host the Rockets and on Saturday Clippers host the Nuggets so that might be it officially because as we all know it was over a long time ago and even those who were in denial are waking up slowly and hoping for lins and a draft pick that would provide hope because that is what we need right now. The draft pick won't be enough obviously but it might be a start. We are close to the rock bottom and now it is all about absorbing the hit and getting up quickly because only thing worse than hitting the rock bottom is staying there for a while.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Justin Williams finally got an opportunity to show what he is capable off and he did. Maybe it would have even been better if those clowns in the refs uniforms weren't inventing calls or interpreting the rules in the way in which a head is part of the ball and such. Justin was extremely nervous in the beginning missing wide open layups by a mile (on the other hand that hot him 3-4 rebounds
) He settled down and he was the best of what is left of the Kings front court. He even hit both of his 2 FTs. His offensive game is decent considering that he does not have one. If it isn't dunk - he probably won't make it. Still he is a kid worthy of keeping for a small amount of money.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike Bibby on the other hand is getting worse by the minute. Currently - he is #112 out of 117 players that qualiy for the FG% category. Worse than him are Hughes, Tinsley, Felton, Morrison and Alston. His FG% in the 2 night of the back to back is dead last 32,6%. His assist to turnover ration is below 2 which is 50% in the league. This season he hasn't met a bad shot he didn't like ot take for that matter. It is irrelevant wheather it was early in the shot clockor whether there is anyone else thet to attempt a rebound. He has never heard of any defensive category to begin with. He will make 24 millions or so over the next 2 season. I just hope that there will be a taker this summer that wouldn't require uptake of too many bad contracts. Time to get the hell out of here Mike!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin Martin has cooled off a lot recently. His numbers are still decent but the efficiency is way down. He is physically and mentally tired because this is his first season with major minutes and a fairly major role. There is also no leadership from above to keep him focused and motivated Who know what is going on in that locker room to begin with. Lately Kevin has also taken a page out of Mike's shot selection book. That is okay right now but in the future things shouldn't be this way. For example, last night while we were making a late surge for unknown reasons and cut Nuggets lead to 2 and 3 pts if I remember correctly - he took 2 very bad shots and it killed us. Obviously right now he is the hero because he made sure that a hard earned lin doesn't turn into a devastating woss but generally with a coach and solid veteran leadership this shouldn't happen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did I mention recently what an idiot Bill Walton is ? It is impossible to follow his game and the commentary at the same time. He is on drugs all the time. Wherever he starts and wherever his commentary goes - it will eventually end at the point that Lakers are great team and that they can go deep in the playoffs. It never fails. Only thing that is somewhat acceptable for me is his quiet, hidden sarcasm. However, last night he was somewhat funny at the end talking about a 9 pt play during a timeout and showing the disappointment about the same after it "failed". On the related story local Kings broadcaster known as "dumb and dumber" have been talking about 8 pt play. I am asking myself whether there is a way for us to patent our inventions and protect it from being "illegaly downloaded"
They should come up with their own stuff.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach's corner is sponsored by Bill Walton, Jerry Reyndols and Manteno State Mental Hospital. Muss got his team 'ready" to play again. Defense limited Nuggets to only 71 pts in the first half. At least he let the kids play some more. Then he fut Salmons/Artest on PF again to guard Nene. That went extremely well. 2nd half was decent but it had more to do with Nuggets than with us. The last minute of the game was classic Muss. A incompetent coach at the wrong time in the wrong place but with the right purpose. 8 more but then it has to be enough.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we got the lin in Denver and we made it even look close but Nuggets were never in danger. We played a decent 2nd half and kids put a solid performance. We couldn't deal with their front line because we don't have any. Also that was the last game on national TV that we will have this season which is good because some things should be kept in "private"
-----------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME
J.R. Smith gets the TDM award for his performance off the bench. Kleiza disappointed me very much
LW-VC award went to Mike Bibby for shooting below 30% and not defending whatsoever
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jazz are next and that gives us the opportunity to take care of mathematical possibilities for the post season with a lin. Jazz are solid and the need wins so it should be mutual. Their front line is too much for us and Williams might own Bibby again. We need to play the kids more and to get the lin that we need.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - just keep sucking- why stop now ?
Ron - take a break man
Kevin - relax - it is over
SAR - what does tha math say now ?
Brad - shut it down man. It hurts me to watch You.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
rest - mateen
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - kool aid flavor of the night - seawater
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Jazz look like they are finally back to track after several years of rebuilding. They have a good team and they play very hard because Sloan wouldn't tolerate anything else. Boozer and Okur will have a field day. Derek Fisher will win the TDM award. Other awards are reserved for the Kings. It is a must lin game for us and I expect nothing but a lin.
