IT = Rumor of 3/24 offer from Pistons

See this is what I am talking about in terms of "hate" from some fans about IT. The above post is pretty ridiculous and not sure what IT has done to elicit this kind of negativity.

First of all IT had a FG% last year of .453%. That's hardly a percentage befitting of a "chucker". In fact Thomas ranked 8th among PG's in FG%. He would have ranked 9th against SG's in FG%. I think most would agree that in order to be a "chucker" you need to have a low FG% along with a high volume of shots. Thomas actually makes a pretty damn good percentage of his shots and at 5' 9" the fact that he shoots 45% from the field is actually extremely impressive.
Okay, fine. Let us re-sign IT for being a very good offensive player and let him start.

But, wait!

What about IT's significant negative impact on the team which gives him a NEGATIVE NET WORTH to the team?

The IT hate in this thread is real 0_0.
Offering reasons why he's not an ideal fit for us is not the same thing as hate. Questioning whether a player is a smart investment at a certain contract level or not is not the same thing as hate. Actually, I'm not even sure what "hate" is anyway in the context of a sports related discussion besides a refuge for the lazy or uninformed. If you have a contrary argument to make, then go ahead and make it. Plenty of others have.

Well I may have said that I wanted to make an IT concentration camp but I don't quite remember.

Sign me up as one of the haters though. I just can't stand his playing style and I don't think he makes anyone better. People will say Cousins was more efficient and whatnot with IT on the floor - but really that's not what people mean when they typically talk about "making teammates better". IT is a scoring threat, and that's pretty much it. A scoring threat that while efficient, isn't THAT irreplaceable IMO. A large part of the hate has come from G&J's non-stop praise of him which has made many Kings games unwatchable for me.

If we get him at a bargain - sure. Otherwise I'm even content letting him walk because in the long-run I think it will be better for the team's development. He is never going to accept a 6th man role.

Oh get over yourself. There have been quite a few low blows directed towards IT. Yes, some people are arguing valid points, but others have an agenda and a clear dislike for the guy.

I have more of a dislike for the rabid IT fans that have turned him into a persecuted victim than I do for the man himself.

Understandable. I certainly do not think he is a victim. He has his flaws and i would prefer a different starter at PG...on the flipside i think there is a lot of vitriol spewed towards him.

We do need a new whipping boy after all! Honestly I'd love it. He's one of my fav players

Want to talk about players not making their teammates better (when playing PG)....... But I would be fine if he came back in a SG role since we have a SF that can shoot now.

If he was all that, he wouldn't be Isaiah Thomas then. He'd be Kyrie Irving. Smarter teams know where 5'9 chuckers belong. On the bench playing about 25 minutes a game where their defensive SHORTcomings wouldn't be exposed and where they wouldn't freeze out their franchise center of touches because they wanna prove people wrong and show heart and that they can deliver pizzas and all that other crap that people with napolean complexes like to do.
IT has outplayed Kyrie Irving every time he's played him. He's proven he's better than Irving every time he's taken the floor against him. Have you missed all the games against Cleveland?

Yeah, but IT intentionally ups his game every time he's matched up with him. He wants to prove a point, Kyrie doesn't. I'm not even a massive fan of Kyrie, so far he's failed to take the next step. Fact remains, though, that Kyrie's upside is still considerably higher than IT's, despite little seperating them at the moment.

I get a feeling that there maybe some sort of Sign and Trade with Detroit happening here. If the Pistons are truly offering 3 years/$24 mil, then they need to move their other $8 million a year point guard in Brandon Jennings.

The Kings have shown interest in Josh Smith and Jason Thompson has been unhappy in his role in Sacramento. Detroit also has Greg Monroe as a free agent who may command more money than Detroit is willing to pay.

The Kings would Sign and Trade Isaiah Thomas and Jason Thompson and filler or ending contract (i.e. Jason Terry) for Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings.

Why the Kings do it? They get a shot blocking big man next to DMC and is a legit 3rd option behind DMC and Gay. Jennings has bad shot selection, but is a more creative and dynamic passer than IT. Malone will have to get him to stop shooting so much, but with capable finishers all around him, Malone maybe able to get him to pass more. The Kings get to keep Ben McClemore and their 1st rounders in this trade. The Kings become more dynamic and athletic.

Why Pistons do it? They Get two big contracts off their books and get a solid contributor in JT, in case they can't resign Monroe. They have shown obvious interest in IT and he would become the starter with Jennings traded. The filler (i.e Jason Terry) are ending contracts for cap relief.

New Kings Lineup:

PF Josh Smith 6'9"/ Landry/ Evans
SF Rudy Gay 6'9" / Derrick Williams
C DMC 6'11" / FA (i.e BJ Mullens/ Sims)
SG Nik Stauskas 6'7" (or Ben McClemore 6'5")
PG Brandon Jennings 6'1"/ Ray McCallum

I wonder if there is any way... any way at all. If so, I would be all for it!! Would bring the fan base back together and make every post next year a little shorter, since each one would not have to include "ahem, Tyreke" in it like last year.
I didnt want to say anything at the time, but I saw this the other day...

Sources say the New Orleans Pelicans are making most of their roster available in trade talks, including Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans, etc.

I might. My reason - Vasquez is an effective offensive player and has a big experience advantage over Ray to start the season. And I like him. Why do I overlook his defense reputation? If the FO does I will, too.

A classic case of Buyers regret. Gordon makes 15M for 2 more years and Evans is on the books for 11/10M for 3 years but the kicker is they have Holiday who they gave up a 1st rounder for at around the same price for Evans. They probably want to spread that money around to fill out a more balanced roster. S&T for IT for Evans and this board crashes for a week.

Maybe IT should just intentionally up his game against every player in the league. Voila - he's the best pg in the game! God, if only I could have thought of that! He's just as good as Chris Paul - he just chooses not to intentionally up his game against him. Offer him $15 mill/year and make sure it's written into his contract that he intentionally ups his game against every player in the league!
