Bawitdaba - Kid Rock - 90's

Still worried about slim 90's pickins so I think I'm gonna just rip through the decades in reverse. This one barely makes it - released in '99 and introducing, well, quite a guy to the rock scene.

Being stuck on an island means you must have a positive attitude. So whenever I start feeling sorry for myself, I'll play this...

I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor - 70s

AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. I can't believe I forgot about that... Well, this could get interesting. You're probably going to get my vote even if you go against me.

Got To Give It Up, Part 1 - Marvin Gaye: Anthology (1974)

Part One first officially appeared on this anthology. Gaye first recorded the full version on Live at the London Palladium. To the best of my knowledge, it was never recorded as part of a studio album.

Ummm.... maybe I am missing something... as to why this has not been picked, but oh well... here goes... again using the awesomeness - irritation test, my next pick is
You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC from 1980.

Also, remember, the video is a big PG-13...

I like the way this draft has gone so far. I think we're going to see some pretty interesting lists by the time the draft is over.

:)

NoBonus picking an AC/DC song has to be right up there with the all time surprises :)

Good one though - certainly was on my draft board but I won't be in the 80's till September probably.

Well, it's generally understood in these things that discussing something that's eligible to be picked that has not been taken yet is frowned upon, so... yeah.

I will return to the 90's and hip hop later, seeing as those picks seem to be pretty safe. I am going to tap the 80's as well:

Prince- 1999 (Oh yes, you can still party like it's 1999) The 80's

Did you know they run around disabling most of his stuff on the net? This vid picture seems alright. Wierd.

Going back to my Rocker days with the next pick. Brings back lots of memories! Would love to listen to this while just lying in the sand.

It's time for a 90s song, but I have some sleepers that I'll save 'til later. Instead I'll grab another classic that I'm sure won't fall much farther. With my 3rd pick, I select:

Layla (1970) Eric Clapton/Derek and the Dominoes

Without any doubt, if I was drafting from a single "30 year period" instead of three distinct decades, this was going to be my first pick. The greatest rock song of all time. No equal. The piano coda at the end is the most brilliant composition ever. Ah sweet pain - the price of my 90's first strategy flung in my face but it was bound to happen and the 70's is so deep. Great pick of course! Kind of startling to me it lasted this long.

Back in Black - AC/DC (80s)

With Bohemian Rhapsody gone I needed something to shore up my 80s rock. Here it is, surprisingly, in round three.

Back in Black by AC/DC (1980)

I'm going to need some serious air guitar on the island. And, along with "California Love," the party music is well on its way.

Ok I'm hating all the AC/DC songs going so far. I badly want to take one, but I like so many of their songs that I feel I should grab other necessities first. I'm surprised LoungeLizard didn't take this one yet, seeing as he votes for this band in the Last Band Standing thread

Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns 'N' Roses - 80's

Yeah..thought about going GNR with my last pick, and Sweet Child O' Mine is a damn good one. I'm pretty sure I'll get atleast one of the GNR tracks that I want. Nice Pick
