Injury report

Four to six weeks? This is really bad news. Our defensive potential is so much better with Willie on the floor and that's where we need to be progressing right now. I'd like to think Moreland will get more playing time as a result but I have a bad feeling it's just going to mean more Acy and Rudy at PF instead.

Did WCS look in pain when it happened? Just wondering because it sounds very painful but I didn't watch.
I dislocated my pinky playing ball years ago, a slight open dislocation and surprisingly, it didn't hurt anywhere near some of the other injuries I've had. Like it appeared with Willie, didn't even know something happened until looking down at my hand and then you freak out, because your finger looks like a T. Putting in back in place hurts though. That ain't fun.

My guess is the 4-6 weeks comes from the size of the opening, stitches needed and that it's his index finger rather than a little pinky.

Should be a big deal given how solid he's looked but given how sparingly he's used it isn't a killer. It will mean more pt for Omri who's numbers have also been very good. Given how Karl likes to play (one big for defensive purposes only keep him out of the lane on offense) it just mean we go straight to Gay and Omri becoming our 4s, belli picking up minutes at the 3, and probly more Curry minutes. With that setup we have to play junkball, which is worrying for Cuz longevity.

The real scare here is this:

In this system Cuz has missed about half the games this season and is dinged up (its not like back concerns are minor). If Cuz misses more time (could certainly happen) our lineup is going to look like the one the Mavs closed with the other night...

This team's luck with injuries the last few seasons really is unreal. We really haven't had a team 100% since that Houston game a few years back where Boogie and Rudy both went down in the first quarter after IT/Rudy/Cuz went .500 in a tough strech of games. And it's really hurt our ability to develop chemistry and really develop a consistent rotation.

I did something similar when I was a kid. The top of my pinky got cut off by a banging door. Finger was hanging off, bone out. Not pretty. Surgery and 12 weeks of rehab.

Injuries are really hurting us this year.

New update to the injury report:

My eyes after last night's first quarter. I haven't been able to open them at all since last night for fear of seeing wide open threes everywhere

Get ready for a heavy dose of Acy at PF.

This is a bummer for WCS. Karl will probably bring him along at a snail's pace when he comes back.

I had one of these (Open dislocation) back in high school during a basketball game. I was throwing an outlet pass from the baseline and my right hand hit the guy guarding the inbound's hand as I was following through. The freaking finger was bent at a 90 degree angle. Suffice to say I ended up having surgery since part of the bone that acts as a cusp for the joint had sheared off and my finger is still a mangled mess 18 years later and I don't have feeling in the tip or full range of motion. My friends call it the witch finger along with other witty, a-hole observations. Ended up sidelining me for the remainder of my Sr. Year for all post Fall sports which sucked for someone trying to secure a partial scholarship that was contingent on how I performed that season in swimming.

Sucks, but again, however, since Karl barely plays him, ironically its not as big a blow as it should be.
My point is that now Karl has an excuse to play horrible rotations.

So there's absolutely nothing stopping him from throwing the worst personnel on the floor as a reaction to the other teams going small - he'll always be able to go smaller and play his crap 3-guard lineup with undersized PF.

WCS getting injured takes away one of the most blatant mistakes Karl's been making all year - of refusing to play Trill, supposedly because he's a rookie. That's bullcrap - Karl didn't play Willie because he doesn't want what Willie provides.
Which I just don't understand, since Karl SUPPOSEDLY likes active players who hustle up and down the floor, can beat their guy to the spot and force defensive turnovers which lead to break opportunities and easy baskets since Willie runs like a deer.

I seriously don't get Karl.
What the hell kind of defense is he running?
What kind of system does he have, if the ultra-energy, defensive specialist (who every time I've watched him has been better on offense than he has reputation on here) is seldom played?
Hell, inevitably after Willie made a great defensive play that was stopping the other team from running us over on offense, Karl would yank him and put him on the bench!

WTF is up with Karl this year?!?

compound fracture? = meet "open dislocation"

Yeah, it's not pretty. Just means it's protruding through the skin where it's dislocated.. This only matters to Willie, because the team was going nowhere anyway. Tough break, no pun intended, for the rookie.
