I'm Shocked

I was just going to post this, well i did on realgm anyway. This woman is flat out horrible. No inflection in her voice, her energy is nonexistant and her questions/ad-libs make me sick to my stomach. They need to give her a prompter to read off of because if she sounds this bad without one...

I was just about to start up a Tsai hate thread of my own.

I know she has an account on this board, I know her husband is Niko Bellic (well, the voice of) and I know she went to some snazzy Ivy League school but she is just terrible.

The only redeeming factor of her is she used to look at least half-way decent as she fumbled around reading her prompter, but her looks seem to have taken a noticeable hit since last season. She's letting herself go!

Niko, get out while you can!

Ah, come on hot babe draft chief.

Although, you may have a point. Wasn't it last time it went that way she got on the board here herself. We sure don't want that again.

It fails on both the class and relevance levels, and in such circumstances is normally used as a weapon to demean and diminish.

Yes, and there's nothing else in this thread besides my looks comment that's meant to demean or diminish the fine reporter.

I actually quite thought that to be the point of the entire thread.

She was brought in to bring a youthful and fun way to present the game, but she stops wearing youthful attire, and that really detracts from her overall appeal. She needs to dress like a normal person, and for a woman, that means she needs less dress. I think shes pretty, but needs to tone down the whole court reporting attitude, and get back to basics, like what individual players are thinking and what they said specifically for her to say to her audience. If she can't do that, and can't dress better than a cheerleader, i don't see her value.

She's better than Rupe the Hoop.. That's all I have to say.. I truely hated that guy, and I am not one to complain but I sent letters to the Kings to remove him.. Probably 30-40 emails lol.. And I am NEVER the one to complain about anything. I usually get embarassed when I see people complaining..

There's a difference between saying that someone is untalented, and saying that someone is unattractive. The latter may well be true (or may not, I can't watch Kings games where I am and have never seen her in action, so I don't really know), but it's hitting a little below the belt.

Meanies nothing... this is a professional sports team with millions and millions of dollars behind it projecting world wide impressions...

I'm sorry but IMO Angela is barely on level of local high school hoops. I couldn't imagine this being a Maloofs thing... they have to have a better business sense than this... someone must have incriminating pics of them...

And clever young man that you are, you will therefore have instantly noticed that I did not warn people not to say anything bad about her. I warned them not to engage in cheap shots about her looks.

Her looks are part of her job. With that being said, I really don't have an issue with her looks. She's a pretty woman, but she is really one of the worst reporters I've ever seen. I just don't understand why she's back. It's like watching a train wreck everytime she comes on. How is she not any better than she was last year? Does she watch tape? She needs to review her tapes and be very honest with herself and go out an improve the next time. I'm just not sure she's capable of it.

I want to say I feel sorry for her, but she had to know going in that she had this coming.

Are Grant Napear's looks also part of his job?

Absolutely, and that's one of the reasons that he's not so popular. It's not so much if somebody has the "classic" looks or not, it's also a lot about how they pull it off. For example, I think everybody would agree that Jerry Reynolds isn't exactly Brad Pitt, but he pulls it off because he has a good funny personality that fits his looks. Grant on the other hand has no personality and his looks reflect that. He never has had any personality. I remember way back when he was starting out with Channel 31 and he had this weird manufactured laugh that they obviously told him to get rid of. He still busts out with it a little bit now and then but he's controlled it pretty well. Grant isn't a very graceful guy. He's a manufactured personality and I'm really not a fan of his at all.

Gosh, I never would have guessed that your not a fan of Grants. Unfortuantely for you, he happens to have one of the highest rated talk shows in northern california. I will admit, that he's not everyone's cup of tea, but, growing up in a big city myself where the talk show hosts are a little more aggressive and brash, I happen to like him.

To say that he has no personality makes me wonder if you ever listen to him. You may not like his personality, but he certainly has one. Grant is a typical east coast type radio personality. If you've ever listened to Mike and the mad dog you would understand.

That someone would not like Grant is hardly news -- he's a tool. On the other hand that somebody would try to claim that not liking Grant had anything to do with his looks is just chuckleworthy.

While I don't really listen to him anymore, I have listened to him ever since he started and have followed his career. He has a highly rated talk show here for one reason -- it's a one station town and Kings fans are unquestionably passionate about their team. If he and Mike where gone and replaced, I would bet that the new guy(s) would have the same ratings.

Brick, I don't not like him because of his looks; I was only making the point because I also said that Anglea Tai's looks are part of the package. Any on-air personality will have their "look" come into question; that's just life. To me, Grant's look go perfectly with his annoying personality and that's what makes him even more of a "tool.". ;)

Who cares really.

Who needs a courtside reporter anyway.
This is pretty much my feelings about "courtside reporters." It's even worse in places like LA where they go off to interview some celebrity in the stands while the game is going on. (We are not the only ones with inane court side reports/reporters) Makes me irritable.

I tuned in to hear about the game. If they want to do that stuff, do it during halftime, or something.

Having said that, Angela is attractive, but is a terrible live TV reporter. By the way, I don't think attractive is important at all to being a good reporter, sports analyst, interviewer or whatever. Otherwise, Howard Cosell would have never been seen on TV. Neither would about half or more of the people that do sports analysis/reporting.

What I want is people who can provide information, knowledge, analysis and insight about the sport they are reporting and the players.

It seems to me that Tsai has done well with the halftime presentations she has done. She seems better suited for that than as a sideline reporter, but then, I happen to agree with the sentiment that sideline "reporter" is a superfluous position, anyway. I'm not critical of Tsai's performance so much as I am of the job in general.

I see no reason whatsoever for her to still have a job. She doesn't add to the broadcasts, she's STILL stilted and obviously ill-equipped for the job AND she's annoying as hell. Her bit with Greg Oden was awkward and painful to watch. The use of basketball jargon is clearly something she's not used to...

There are tons of former players out there who could do a very good job at courtside/color reporting. Why they insist on bringing in people like Angela Tsai boggles my mind.

And, in conclusion, I think Spike just won the thread.

;)

Kozimor used to do this stuff. I didn't mind it as much, becasue he knew what he was talking about and came across as personable. Still wouldn't miss this stuff if they eliminated it.
