if the kings sneak into the lottery this year

one does, if they are depending one a single game that decides their lottery fate. lets pray it doesn't come to that :)
how did the spurs even get the 1st pick to land duncan that year? my god... the luck.

The 93 Magic are a good example of sneaking in. They barely missed the playoffs and got the 1st pick, and the odds were tougher for them than for SA. Orl had 1 ball in a drum of 66.

Yeah..the "luck". ;) It's called tanking your season knowing that Duncan was waiting...

Cleveland learned well from the Spurs, back in 2003. They were good for about 30 wins, they still sucked, but magically dropped 13 games off the pace. They were a better team than Denver that year and they played in a much easier conf. Denver winning 17 games was legit.

The same thing is going to happen for some team(s) once Oden is up for grabs.

if we can draft Duncan-like player next year, I wouldn't mind slip to the bottom, given that we have no shot this year anyway.

Well, it looks like next years draft hasn't a clear cut "Duncan" so it probably won't be worth it anyway.

why wouldn't it be worth it? how much value is a 1st pick? i'm sure some ppl would give up some good players for the 1st pick. we could probably dump a bunch of junk contracts along w/ it =)

It's not; worth tanking this season for next years draft have you guys seen the draft prospects? there is no one in that draft that would be a franchise player only someone like Rudy Gay has a good chance to be a All-star caliber but thats about it...

have you heard of salary fillers in trades?
Nope. I'm just a dumb girl. I don't know how these things work.

PEJA + CORLISS salaries can equal a paul pierce type salary.
Unfortunately, value and price aren't the same thing in the NBA.

you must think petrie is a fool.
And you apparently think I'm a fool. I hope I'm as wrong as you are.

i'm glad he got rid of webb b4 his wheels fell off. how can you have 15-20 mill sit on the bench NOT producing AND when he did come back he was a huge defensive liability.
Okay, teach, tell me how much Williamson and Skinner are being paid to sit on the bench.

GGG, if you knew anything about bargaining it is EASIER to package a deal when the contracts are smaller.
Well, apparently its not easy enough, seeing as its now December and the Kings' three flexible pieces are still spending most of their time on the bench and not putting up even a fraction of the numbers that a certain broken down player is putting up whilst hobbling around in Philly with a ball hog.

ROFL GGG is owning KMart23 in this whole debate thing.

Yeah, because he's doing so badly in Philadelphia right now.

Chris Webber is shooting .426 from the field and the sixers are 8-10. Doesn't seem like he's doing all that great.

Of course I haven't seen any sixers games so I might be off target, but it doesn't look to good at the moment.

Chris Webber is averaging 20pts 10rebs, and the pathetic thing is he would EASILY lead our team in both rebounding and shotblocking on one leg. There can be no stones thrown at that man from our crumbling glass house.

I understand, I realize the Kings aren't doing so hot at the moment, but I'm just saying the sixers aren't doing well either.

But that's totally irrelevant. It's not a matter of comparing teams. It's a matter of comparing how the trade components are doing post-trade.

And if the trade hadn't taken place, which team do you think would show the effects more?

VF says it best I am in a morning the loss of Webb type of day so I will try and stear away from the comments in my head.

Bottom line if we had Webb right now... Does everyone mean to tell me that they would rather have Reef or Thomas over Webb. Even though he is not at his prime he is still 10x better then the both of them combined. Bitter waxer take a breath. Okay in out in out............

PG - Bibby, SG - Wells, SF - Peja, PF - Webber, C - Miller.

Excuse me, I have to go find a Kleenex...

+ whoever we signed with the now-unused midlevel exception.

Looks better to me.

I thought we used the Midlevel brick? Not sure about it just thought I heard Petrie saying in an interview that we used it.

nbrans said:
Not if the Maloofs didn't want to pay luxury tax.

No, actually the midlevel makes no difference $$wise. Webb's contract = Thomas/Skinner/Corliss. Webb + midelevel is the exact same as Thomas/Skinner/Corliss + midelevel (Reef).

And yet another thread devolves to rearguing the Webber trade. This board is pretty exciting these days, what with the fire Aldeman calls, trade X player, Kings suck, blah blah balh.
