If kings trade tyreke for rondo

I'm reading on my Facebook and Twitter that we should expect rondo to be a king come draft day while getting the 22nd pick and 23rd or something like that. While celtics get tyreke and the #5... It's more than likely speculation, but sounds to be not that bad of a deal. I for one aren't ready to throw in the towel on tyreke. It's waaay to early in his career.

I wouldn't do it, because simply put there's absolutely no need to. Why are we off chasing Rajon Rondo when our most glaring, blitteringly obvious hole is at SF? We have a chance to fill that hole with the #5 pick. Why throw that chance away AND give up on Evans just to get Rajon Rondo, who doesn't exactly fill any of our greatest needs? I mean, sure I'd love to have him, but we are not going to win a lot of games until the day we fix our biggest flaws.

Already been reported to be fake (http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/stor...-to-sacramento-relax-celtics-fans-it-s-a-hoax).

So it's fake, I love Reke and prefer to keep him, but I'm not gonna lie: I seriously pondered this for a minute or two. But as good as Rondo is and as much as he could do for this team (first thought is he would make Thornton's presence much more viable), he's too mercurial to be on the same team as Cousins. He's clashed with seemingly every one of the big 3, including the most fiery of them all in KG. I don't see that relationship doing well.

This. Evans will probably be mentioned in about 10 different unbalanced trades before the draft. He's a missing piece that can help a lot of contenders get over the hump and make a serious run. We start winning, these talks go away. And we CAN win with Evans. He's not perfect, but he's a right piece.

Yup. But even if we were to trade Evans (especially together with the #5), I would say our priority should be an SF, which is why I'd oppose the trade anyway.

I'm a huge Tyreke fan but I would LOVE this trade. We're all hoping/thinking that Tyreke will develop into a franchise changing guard... well Rondo is already that. Any team he plays for is a 40+ win playoff team right now imo. He's a beast. Too bad it's fake.

No it shouldn't. There just aren't very many good SF out there. Your not getting value trading for a SF. Unless you want to trade Evans for Melo.

But why? Don't many here feel that Isaiah Thomas is a good enough point guard for us, or at very least a good backup PG? Our SF spot on the other hand, doesn't even have a good backup, let alone a good starter. But you'd want to trade Tyreke Evans AND our #5 for a point guard that can't shoot (since so many people feel shooting is every so important)? Oh yes, let's just win a title with Rondo and Cousins running pick and rolls, because Cousins is ever so good at setting screens and rolling.

Gee, what position do Lebron and Durant play? Gasp, it's SF! And they won't even have to run down the court to defend our SF if we keep things the way they are.

We'd probably get the 7th or 8th spot in the playoffs for many years to come, and just end right back up in mediocre land. Hip hip hoorah!

I disagree. Rondo has a lot of problems with his game also, namely lack of a mid and long range shot and free throws. If he has the ball on the 3 point line you can sag off him 10+ feet close passing lanes and still meet him where he is dangerous. He has alot of great points to his game also but I don't think if we had him last year we would have been a 500 team with just him and reke swap.

We get these rondo talks fairly often around trade deadlines and I shake my head because we would have many of the same exact problems with him(lack of defined system and identity, poor shooting, lack of team defense...) as we have with Reke at pg cept reke is in a better position to continue improving.

edit:
plus I have little respect for that guy after the poor sportsmanship in the boston bulls series a few years back.

My post wasn't about Evans for Rondo. It was about Evans for a SF.

And after those 2 it's a huge drop off.

Just to give you an idea what I'm talking about.

SF per rankings last year of total players.

1. James.
4. Durant
28. Melo
42. Pierce
53. Granger.
68. Gay

If Allen and KG are not on that team next season you may see new Rondo and you may like him a lot less.

That is going to be the main thing to watch next year, and I'm really curious as to how well he'll perform.
How good will Rondo be if you take away the Fall of Fame talent that he's been surrounded with the last 5 years.

People forget that in Rondo's 1st year at the PG spot the Celtics only won 24 games and that was with Paul Pierce & Al Jefferson. (So you have your post scorer, your wing scorer, and your pure PG, and they had very little success)
It was during the off-season that they brought in KG and Allen, and those veteran players really helped Rondo to take several leaps in terms of productivity.

Why are we wasting our time discussing this. It was a false rumor. Its not going to happen. Unless you just love to argue?

^I think all these false rumors are just getting into our heads. I'm honestly terrified this team is going to make a bad move tomorrow and then miss a player who would have been great for us.

My only question is regarding Rondo's contract. How many years would he be guaranteed to be a Sactown King ? If we are guaranteed 3 more years with Rondo, then I would do it in a heartbeat. I'd give them 5 and Reke and take Rondo and #21.

But if he's not perfect, what use is he?

I know you're just being facetious, but I continue to be amazed by how much Evans gets bashed because he doesn't have a jumper. So what? Are people so short sighted that they find it impossible to build around an amazing slasher/finisher and a post talent like Cousins? Where we've failed is in the complementary pieces, which includes coaching.

We'll see if Smart goes back to half court teaching, or Smartball. That, to me, will go a lot further in improving this team than the draft. What good are the right ingredients if the chef can't see the meal? It can't cook itself.

And you had to go all serious on me. Shame on you.

As to my comment, I will bet a few people agreed with me and that is very, very sad.

As to the Kings trading Tyreke for anybody, it means a major change in the direction of this team assuming it is headed in any direction. Do we really need another season of trial and error? Can't we just deal with what we have and make tweaks in the team? Trading Tyreke is not a tweak. It's a huge change and at this point, after so many mediocre to putrid years, let's settle in and try to make the best of what we have. Tyreke's 20-5-5 season may have been a PR success for the FO but it still took an athlete with multi-talents to pull it off. Gavin wasn't on the court.

Exactly! You don't make the supreme talents fit in with the role players, you FIND the right role players to fit around them. I hate when I hear that Reke doesn't fit the team. You make the dang team fit Big Cuz and Reke. It gives me a headache that people want to see the early 2000's Kings team on the floor again but unfortunately that style of play didn't win anything. The teams that cause the biggest mismatches and surround players around those mismatches that can make open shots are the teams that win championships. We have 2 mismatches waiting to happen in Cuz and Reke. Wooosah.
