I wanna see this line-up

PG: Kevin Martin
SG: Mike Bibby
SF: Ron
PF: Shareef
C: Brad

i know you're telling you're self why i have Bibby at the 2 spot but i think this experiment can work but i'm not suggesting this should be our line-up but Musselman should give it a try and see how it works out.

this poorly photoshopped image, and post in general, confuses me.

are you upset with an exgirlfriend?

Not happening. Bibby will be back to being more of a PG, as well.

Mike Bibby is the PG. Kevin Martin is more of a swingman, and I don't think he has better passing skills than Bibby.

In joker's defense, Martin has good ballhandling skills and can be used at times in this role -- but probably not most of the time.

I'd especially like to see Martin guard quick point guards. He did as well as anyone against Tony Parker in the playoffs, and if you have a team with a good point guard and a weak shooting guard or small forward I think it makes sense to stick Martin on the point guard and hide Bibby on whoever is weakest on the opposing team.

Thats are starting line-up, you just switched Mike and K-mart, does that mean you want to have Kevin bring the ball up. I've never been impressed with Kevin's ability to handle the ball, especially under pressure. But if you want Bibby at the 2 you could always have Ron bring the ball up, which I think we'll see.

You must be talking about Bibby at SG on offense, because that wouldn't make much sense defensively. Furthermore, I wouldn't mind seeing us go big with Bibby on the bench: slide Kevin to PG(defensively) and bring in Salmons. I think we have that type of versatility in our backcourt and I expect Musselman to use our deep backcourt to wear down our opponents.

how bout this lineup?

pg: salmons
sg: bibby
sf: martin
pf: artest
c: reef

i know its a small lineup but i think it would be good when matched up with certain teams. this would be a small and quick lineup

Martin would get killed at SF (offensevely not so much). Think what Lebron would do to Martin.
No he wouldn't.

You obviously wouldn't match him up with Lebron, that's what Artest is for. Kevin Martin can play SF, without a doubt.

After watching games last season I did notice that Kevin got the duties of defending the opposing PG more often then I recalled. He handled guys like Stephon Marbury very well.

Defensively I have no problems with Kevin guarding PGs. Offensively I would rather see Artest, Cisco, Salmons and Douby run the point before Kevin...and in that order too.

man just to be honest with you, i dont think you are giving kevin enough credit. he is one hell of a player and will do very well this season. cut the guy some slack, everytime he started he did very well!

he didn't say anything about Kevin Martin not doing well this season. Plus he is right. He does have an advantage on defense due to his size but offensively its better for him to stay at the 2 and 3 position. Artest can play point on offense because of his posting ability.

I don't think Bawla was saying anything about Kevin Martin's ability as a player, but rather his ball handling skills (at the point). I agree with him, that I would much rather see Bibby, Salmons, Douby and Garcia in that role.

Actually half the time he started he did very well. The other half were called "road games". ;)

In any case, regardless of that, he is NOT a PG. I mentioned before that he never racked up assists even back in college. Not in his mentality or game. He's a scorer. He is a willing enough passer, but they are the sort of steady "move the ball" passes of a guy who is not selfish, not the create a shot passes of a PG. He may very well end up guarding some PGs this season to cover for Bibby, but that doesn't make him a PG either. Just a guy who might be able to cover quickness defensively.

I agree with the poster above: after Bibby, Ron, Salmons, and Garcia are all clearly more PG/create for others oriented than is Kevin. Douby and Price may or may not be, but have little choice due to their size. Having Kevin actually try to play PG is just counterproductive and doesn't play to his or our strengths. It would be like having Bonzi stand out at the three point line and play shooter. Kevin's value is as a slasher/scorer, not a creater.

i would just much rather see kevin playing point then artest or douby at this point. artest is a player who is very strong but not the best at playing point. and douby is an unproven player who would rather score then pass. but i do agree that cisco and salmons are better at running the point then martin.

^i'd rather have artest running the point than kevin: better ballhandler, offense gets to run through him, more experience, etc.
