I found the perfect SG

I think, to be fair, some are making comments just about next season. But there are others who appear to be making more of a long term assessment with respect to our talent level. I'm more interesting in drinking out of the glass of the latter; not of the former.;)

I don't think anyone in this thread is making long term assesments. In fact we all know that we are possibly losing 2 of the big men after this season.

Well if you drink out of the glass of the former first, think of it as a taste test, then you'll have a better idea how to mix the the drink for the latter.;)

Garcia says, "Hey Joo kno dat Im da man!"

-He's not the best dribbler but reke is gonna have the ball so it's all good.

I love the optimism on this board. We don't "need" a difference maker at two guard. We don't need a special player at two guard. We're all set for the championship. Cousins hasn't played one pre-season game, much less a regular season game and we've projected him in to the Hall. We just won 25 games last year and we're convinced we don't "need" stars because we're destined for greatness. I really need to drink what you're drinking. I could move to Seattle, never see the sun for the rest of eternity, and still be president of the Optimist Club.;)

No team has a "star" or "difference maker" at every position. It is rare to find a team with a star or superstar guard that doesn't have a "role player" at the other guard position. There is no doubt that Tyreke is the star the Kings are building this team around and he looks like a superstar in the making. That means we need a role player at the other guard position. It seems to me that Garcia can fill that role just fine for now. I would love to see the Kings find a better player at SG, but he would still be a role player. I happen to believe that Cousins will become the other star (or difference maker) for the Kings. I am sure he won't just step in and fill that role right away, but he will likely fill some of the time even this season.

Teams that are trying to build contenders generally start with a superstar (have to be a little lucky) and try to buld around him. If they are fortunate, they manage to find a 2nd star player. It is at that point that they put good solid role player around the 2 stars and end up as a playoff team with a chance of winning the title.

I don't know why so many people always seem to think you have to have a star at every position. I always see statements like, no team can contend with so-&-so (enter role player here) starting. Yet, I can go through every championship team and find 1 or 2 starters that are worse than whatever player was just mentioned. It just boggles the mind.
