I Feel Kevin Martin Should Get Most Improved Player Of The Year!!!

BALLER4LIFE

G-League
Here’s why….

First off Martin went from averaging 2.9 points per game shooting 38.5% from the field, 20% from behind the arc, and a dismal 65.5% from the line last year to averaging 11.3 points at a blistering 49.4% from the field, 39.5% from behind the arc and 85.7% from the line. Sure his minutes are up but you can not argue with these percentages. Kevin also did not start scoring or getting minutes consistently until after Bonzi went down with an injury. I personally feel Martin should get a good shot at most improved player of the year…..

Also might I add, Martin has not shot below 50% from the field for a month since the end of November.

What do you think?

I agree, he should win. Even some of the commentators I've heard said he should and we know how much ESPN love our Kings:rolleyes:

Had not thought of that --but actually now that you mention it he would have to be a significant candidate.

Figure if they don't go with a major player like a Bosh or Howard or Okur even Kaman, then Kevin is right there with guys like Banks, Pachulia, Delonte West etc. Be interesting to see how Mike James is handled too -- a major candidate if they are wiling to consider somebody so old.

I think that you'd be hard-pressed to give that award to anyone other than Boris Diaw; Martin probably deserves an honorable mention, though.

Agreed. MIP is normally an individual award and I don't think team success weighs in as much as compared to the MVP award. Having said that, Boris Diaw and David West deserves the award the most for not only becoming a star player out of nowhere, but also for the glaring success of their respective teams. Boris Diaw, IMO is one of the biggest reasons Phoenix remains an elite team this year, something many of us here including myself thought would never happen with Amare going down, that's why he should win. Kevin Martin should get some votes though, and really if he played the way he's been playing all season long, he'd be right up there with them.

I think Kevin Martin has made a tremendous push this year, but all he does is make shots and make the Kings win. Diaw does both plus rebound, assist, block steal. He has the whole package. He can also play 4 different positions.

Actually Diaw has played all 5 positions.

Kevin definetly deserves consideration for MIP but Diaw deserves it hands down this year. If it was any other year than Kevin would be the favorite but this year there are a ton of other canidates.

You know -- totally forgot about Boris.

Obviously agree though. Diaw's growth has been amazing.

Like it or not Diaw will get that award. What can we do? Suns were overhyped.

Hardly -- what the Suns have down this year minus Amare is remarkable. And Diaw has just been great.

i made a topic about 2 months about how kevin martin should get the most improved award...and was met with mostly doubt

The idea is *still* met with mostly doubt; nearly everybody to post in this thread has said that there are more deserving players.
