how long before bobby gets traded?

Big Cuz 15

All-Star
it's inevitable, he's gonna be next on the list to be traded.
with his age and injuries -- but when is he going to be traded?
his value is still high and the kings hold the option on him for next year.
hes verbally expressed that he doesn't want the kings to pick up his option.
i say either before this trading deadline or this summer.

I think he is a player that we need, his energy, skill, etc. BUT I think he is too injury prone and we I believe we could get someone just as good for him.

I dont think it will happen any time soon either.

KMart23 -

Yeah. Okay.

His value isn't high right now. He just had surgery. Until he recovers and goes through rehab, I doubt if there's gonna be a big scramble for him.

The latest injury, in fact, may drastically lower his market value. Which could enable the Kings to keep him for significantly less than before the last injury. As far as the option thing goes, it doesn't matter if he wants the Kings to exercise the option. It only matters if the Kings want the Kings to exercise the option.

So, I say Bobby won't be traded.

Now all we have to do is wait and see who's right.

Also, unless we totally change our core parts our team is set. Good players are struggling for minutes. We would have no need for the type of player we would get in return for BJax.

Bobby is not going anywhere before he is healthy. Untill then lot can happen.
Still some time till trade deadline

Not to mention the fact that Bobby may not want to be traded now. He was hoping to have a big year so he could get a good payday on his last contract. Now he might rather wait one more year, so he can show he can play a majority of the games in a season without injury. It might benefit both the Kings and Bobby if they pick up his option.

Well Christie didn't want to be traded. Maybe he was hoping for a big year. It doesn't mean that Bobby won't be traded too.

But I don't think Bobby will be traded. If he did get traded, I'd just sit in a corner until I figure out why it happened.

But how can you trade an injured player whose played like 15 games in the last season and a half, and get any value for him? Plus if Bobby can come back he would help us next year. When he's healthy he's a lot more effective than DC was(this year). Bobby only makes 3. something million next year right? Who could you get thats as good as him(or even with the potential to be), whose salary would match up? I don't think he will be traded either but your right that doesn't mean it won't happen... Petrie is sneaky!

Thats what we all think. "Bobby wont get traded" but did anyone see Christies trade coming?

Entirely different, Freak. What they're talking about is Bobby's comment that he might ask the Kings not to exercise the team option they have for one additional year.

Regardless, this is all terribly premature and without substance. I wouldn't worry about trading Bobby. He's not going anywhere right now.

Christie wasn't on the IL. Christie had a huge salary; Bobby is playing pretty much for chump change.

Bobby is not going anywhere right now. Anybody we could get for what we're paying him wouldn't be worth losing him for...injured or not.

I dont know if Bobby will be traded. The Kings have a team option which means they can keep him if they want. I think we just have to wait for the offseason and see.

Bobby has a very limited trade value at the moment. Any team looking at his contract would have to be very skeptical given the numerous injuries he has endured in the past 3 seasons. Of course some brain trusts think that Vlade'scontract is tradeable for the Lakers so who knows, but I suspect Bobby will take the option on his contract and stick with the Kings. Unless some sweet deal pops up I suspect for better or worse he will be a King next season.

Who would want to trade for a PG thats out for the season, with only a team option left on his contract?

utah would for arroyo.... they dont want or need him and bobby would be out for the season then would be back for the next.... makes sense to me....

A team could trade for Bobby as an ending contract, but I think he's too valuable a piece for him to be used that way. His contract is also puny, so it wouldn't be much of a salary dump. So alternately a team could trade for him with the intention of installing him as their starter. But in order for THAT to work, it would have to be a team without any hope/need for him this year. A bad team most likely. But then of course an aging player like Bobby is a better fit on a veteran team that'a already close than he is on a rebuilding squad.

So bottomline, that injury probably screwed up not only his ability to help us this season on the court, but his ability to help us through acquiring another player via trade. Only way it seems like their would be a major market for him would be if he were an extra player thrown in in a trade. But hard to see that happening either, as shipping out one core player for a spark is doable without too much disrption to the team, but shipping out one or more other core guys in the same season begins to really mess with chemsitry/continuity such that its hard to see us making much of a run. You could do it on the theory that he can't help us much this year anyway, so any other significant player will make a bigger contribution. But I think that even when not playing, his presence on and arouodn the team probably still counts for something. One of the other hard workers that Webb has focused on.

Now if he recovers, over the summer his value could be VERY high. Held back by injury of course, but we will have mulitple options that could make him attractive to other teams -- either pick up the option, and then have a talented PG with a small ending contract = HUGE value, or don't pick up the option and then resign him + trade him with a 3-4 year signifcant $$ deal to a team looking for a veteran point for the long haul. Or, of course, just keep one of the most explosive reserves in the league on our bench.

Bobby will either sign an extension this summer and be traded or just simply sign an extension and stay. The Kings won't be able to keep him if they let him go into free agency. Look at Vlade! Bobby will get good offers without doubt. The injury does hurt Bobby in this situation but so does the play of Evans. Mo is playing so well right now that any talks of his play (as well as Special K) not effecting any current business moves are false.

I personally believe the Kings are setting up themselves into the position of re-signing Peja at all costs, so maybe picking up Bobby's option is a possibility. Of course as I stated above if they pick up the option and let him into free agency he's gone.

I wouldn't mind a sign and trade though, depending on what we could get out of it. Of course if would most likely be expiring contracts to aid in the re-signing of Peja.

I think and I will say this again. The perfect trade considering the health of Bobby would be for Marko Jaric. Look at it this way the Clippers get a PG for another year on the cheap, whereas if they keep Jaric they might lose him or have to give him big money to resign him. This saves the Clippers money and they get a starting PG next year on the cheap with enough time for Livingston to take over the role the following year. The Kings might do this to free up money next year also would add to the depth this year once Marko gets back from injury it is very little risk I think to do this.

Trades are done for now, unless Petrie can get equal or higher value for anyone, I mean, wouldn't you trade Webber for Lebron? I see BJ sticking to his contract and not opting out since its two years in a row that hes been plagued by injuries.

since he wants more money and a starting position the odds are low that bobby will resign with the kings .i don't know if it'll be this year, but i think petrie will try to get something for him before his contract is up.

i read that carlos arroyo(sp) isn't too happy with his situation in utah right now. would he fit the kings? i've only seen him play during the olympics. he was pretty good. he just sign a contract for six million a year.

Trade an injured BJ whose out for practically the entire season for Carlos Arroyo, or anyone for that matter? Riiiiiight... Petrie might be actively trying to trade him, but getting anyone to bite is going to be tough.

I love Arroyo but he isn't the type of point guard we need. He looks to shoot first. We need someone to run the offense and get our big guns involved while Bibby gets a blow. Marko Jaric would be a great fit. He play tough D, a bunch of steals per game if I remember correctly and he can dish too. I still say bring back Bobby Hurley. He must be healed up by now.

You can't trade an injured player, and Bobby won't be healthy until after the trade deadline. Which means that this conversation doesn't mean anything until the summer. And given Petrie's track record of standing pat during the season (which is why the DC trade was doubly surprising) I would assume that if Bobby is not dealt in the offseason, he won't be dealt at all.

Yes but my understanding is the oyther can waive the physical thus making the trade valid.

I still think we could have won the Wolves last year if Bobby were willing to play. It's over...

Let's rock this year!

If Bobby were willing to play

You know, that kind of stuff is just wrong. In fact, although Grant Napear was the one who started the stupid idea that Bobby could have played and just didn't, he did retract it later on.

Bobby was more than willing to play. He didn't want to sit on the sidelines and watch. He is not that kind of player. He COULDN'T play. Abdominal strains are nothing to fool around with; they're extremely painful and difficult to heal.

keep in mind, i'm working off the theory that bobby won't be injured for the remainder of his career/contract with us(which could end by the end of next season).LOL im not necessarily saying we could get carlos, just throwing something out there.

never underestimate petrie though, doug was pretty banged up and we got a very good, healthy player(s) in return for him.

I think Bobby would give anything to be able to play, even hurt, if it would make the team better...thats why he got like 3 opinions and waited until the last possible time to have surgery. If that isnt a sure sign, I dont know what is. Bobby loves this team, this city, and wants nothing but the the best for both. Oh, and as far as him getting traded, I kinda think he will next year, just because we, in order to keep Mobley, wont have enough in the cougher to keep him...Bobby will hopefully be back for the playoffs, and I fully expect him to shine once he does return. Bobby doesnt want to discount his own value, even in a trade, to sit out and be lazy for selfish reasons.
