How about a trade with OKC?

I personally feel that OKC would most likely pick a big in this draft and Kings may get a chance on Burke or some better sized PG. Is there any chance that cheap contract exchanges would happen between SAC and OKC say give us Perry Jones and Thabeet for IT plus package?

OKC has a system that allows PG to pour in a lot of point next to KD. I think IT would give them much more than any of their back-up PG. On the other hand, having Thabeet would be more like drafting any of the defensive bigs in this draft. And maybe Perry Jones' knee could hold for 3-5 seasons of awesome basketball. :P

In Thabeet, you picked a player that still hasn't proven that he can be a part of rotation, much less start on an NBA team. The clock is running out on Thabeet. Perry Jones III is a very talented player, that resembles the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz. He has no heart. Of the two, if I were to make a bet on success, I'd bet on Jones. So he might be worth a gamble since he fits one of our needs at SF. However, when you threw IT into the mix, and this is whether you like or dislike IT, you threw in a player thats proven he's capable of competing in the NBA. That in itself is worth something. Every team in the NBA knows that they can throw IT out on the floor, and he's more than capable of holding his own.

If I'm going to trade IT, then I think he has to be part of a bigger package for a proven player. Or a player still unproven, but with a very large upside, and that fills a need. For instance, if we could move up in the draft to get either Porter or Oladipo, and it took IT to move up, then I'd consider it. Or say you had a trade of Thompson for Varejao, and you needed IT to close the deal, then again, I'd consider it. For some reason I can't explain, we tend to undervalue our own players, and overvalue the other teams players. You have to approach trades the same way you would a game of risk. You have to be cold and calulating. And never give up more than you have to.

I'd really like to trade for Lamb, but all reports are that OKC will be promoting him into KMart's spot in the rotation. They just can't afford to resign him, and Lamb will be an up and coming player, especially on that team where he doesn't have to do too much at first.

I thought the whole Thabeet thing was over with? :(

No to Thabeet. He's a bust. How about getting K-Mart back? He was my favorite King when he played here. He's still a hell of a scorer. Of course it would create a HUGE logjam at the SG spot unless we got rid of a couple of them via trades or not resigning.

And no, I am not serious about getting K-Mart back but if there was a guy that is in our "value" range then it would probably be K-Mart. No way we could get Westbrook or Durant.

Oops, just realized he's a free agent.

If we can get Kmart on the cheap in free agency, then I'd like him back, as he was one of my favorites as well. Anything over 6-7 mil a year, though, and I'll pass.

On PJIII: His potential is unlimited, his athleticism is unmatched, his skills are top-notch, his touch is soft, his hands are quick, and his jumper and handle show some promise. He has every tool to be a complete and utter monster in this league. His knee is troubling, but if he elects to receive surgery, he could quite possibly make a full recovery and return to form. No, the only detractor to Perry should be his mind. Comparisons to the scarecrow are correct: he has no brain in his head and no heart in his chest. He makes stupid decisions with the ball and has utterly no desire to succeed. So he's sort of a Kwame Brown type of guy, except he wasn't hyped as a consensus no.1 pick.

The core of my proposal is not to get all-star in exchange for IT. But rather to get useful rotation players by unclogging our backcourt.

As a 2nd overall pick, Thabeet is indeed a bust. But after following a few OKC games, I think the kid a learned playing behind Perkins and Ibaka.
As for Perry Jones, no one can un-seat Durant over there. I think PJIII can be a good rotational player here. And probably occasional starter.

Your idea is a good one. The problem is that I don't believe Thabeet or PJ are useful rotation players at the moment, nor may they ever be.

This potential monster was one of the worst offensive players last season. He might put it all together but for now I'm cautiously putting Beasley as his best case scenario.
And please, I'm taking Cole Aldrich over Thabeet every time. Perkins was historically bad in PO and still got playing time - that's how valued Thabeet is in OKC.
