Holy crap Bogut extension

Bogut has turned into a pretty decent player, but he needs to be at 18 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks to justify that kind of money.

A young center who puts up about 15-10-2 along with very good pasing, that's about the going rate these days.

They have been insanely high these last few years on Bogut, despite him making modest gains at best on the court. That's a ridiculous contract even given that though. That's franchise money for a guy who is just a support player.

He had a pretty strong year for a bad team, and 15/10/2 isn't bad, but man.... He'd better keep improving if that's not going to be an albatross contract. To put it in perspective, would you rather have Kevin Martin for $55 million or Andrew Bogut for $72 million? It's really no contest, particularly since it's not like Andrew Bogut is some irreplaceable presence.

Especially in a time when restricted free agent deals have been going down and down, it seems like they way overbid.

Well, like Bob Dylan said, "the times they are a changin'." These guys are progressively getting more and more paid, and good young centers get paid the most.

Good young centers who contribute almost zero wins to the W-L column however typically do not. You can be a very bad, and very soft, team with Andrew Bogut as your center. He is a non-impact player getting paid impact money. Nobody else was going to throw that at him. Its another BMiller contract. Actually worse -- he's going to be earning what? $16-$17mil in the final year of his contract? He's better be 20-10 by that point.

I would take Miller over Bogut. And i am not a miller fan, i just know that miller has a very high Basketball IQ. Bogut does not because he just accepted 5 more years of not making the playoffs.

Quite to the contrary -- Bogut just assured himself of being in the wealthiest 1/10 of 1% of the world's population for the rest of his life.
