He Gaveth, and Tooketh Away....

And now, I bid you farewell. It's about time you've stepped down from our beloved organization.

I am calling for the resignation of Geoff Petrie.

Any one who seconds this motion feel free to post in this thread.

I don't know what to say, really.

This trade is so terrible, that I have to say I have lost any trust I have had in Petrie. If he can pull this off, he could trade Peja for Popeye Jones tomorrow.

I'm not calling for his head...but damn. Talk about messing up.

It's too late. It would be like demanding the caretaker lock the barn door after all the horses had been stolen.

Any experts out there know when trade restrictions are lifted for a player who has just been traded? Is it possible this deal went down now so the Kings could make more moves this summer. as opposed to trading CWebb in June and not being able to deal for a while?

I guess June til November is a long time, eh, nevermind... this trade won't make any more sense...

He used to know what he was doing.

I agree the Kings will get results though....Downhill.

I'm part of the Philly board now, and everyone's saying that they took the Kings to the cleaners.

Sad day. I'm still in shock.

I still very much believe in Geoff Petrie. Petrie didn't trade webber on a whim. He didn't do it because he's in love with Peja.

We'll see who jumps back on the bandwagon when the Kings are rockin again.

Let Petries history do the talking for him people!!! There is something that we are not seeing in this one. And I believe its far from a rebuilding season.

that's why fans posting on message boards aren't general managers. Petrie's life revolves around managing the Kings and making them better. He has more insight into this than any of us ever will. And his priority will always be to act in the Kings best interest, as long as he's their GM.

Of course we are not rebuilding. Look:

The Kings did not throw just season away. To do that they would have had to trade for contracts taht expeir this season so they could rebuild. None of the stiffs contracts expire this seaon. So in essence Petrie probalby threw away next season and probalby the 2 that follow away as well.

I thought about that, and it IS hard to trrade a guy twice in one offseason. Not sure if I;ve seen it done so it may even be illegal.

Of course you have to get pieces that people would actually want to trade for in the first place. That's what I love about this "fleibility" bunk. Flexibility to do what? Package Kenny Thomas somewhere? that should bring us back some real star power. Unless you're planning on packaging him with another core player (ther few that are left). And then that just means you basically traded Webb for 3 throw ins.

Just ick.

it will be interesting to see my friend!

But who? We got Cat as a replacement for an aging gaurd. The only way I could see the Kings trading Cat is if they still had Webb.

Kenny Thomas and Cuttino packaged could definitely bring in something worthy.

Yeah but your talking off season. I think most people are pissed because the kings look to have thrown this season away, and if the idea was to package Cat and Thomas in the offseason then they would be right.

I know it's Geoff Petrie's fault.

But isn't the Maloof brothers have some responsiblity too? I mean, without Maloof's aproval Petrie can't do the trade, right?

I love the Kings. But I really detest the current ownership and managment.

Assuming Cat does not just walk away and sign with somebody else outright. And of course we are then still one starter short unless Martin is ready, which he hasn't looked yet. I agree that's the sort of stuff we are looking at, but I have doubts whether you can pull back front line talent for those sorts of combos.

The current ownership/management are the entire reason the Kings are what they are today. Or were yesterday. This...well this is awful. But its onyl recently that they have started getting shaky.

I'm not willing to play Geoff Petrie tonight (If I did, I'd probably end up trading them for Derek Fisher) , but I do know that it could bring us back something of value. Either way, enough with trades for the night. I never meant to spark another trade debate.

STK - As somebody already said, the season was already halfway through the garbage. Petrie just made sure he pushed it to the bottom. I don't think people are only pissed at that...I think most of us are upset because none of the teams needs were addressed and the fact that we lost one of the best players in the league for three guys who don't make much of a difference. Not to mention the fact that Chris was probably the most dedicated Sacramento King this season, something we cannot say about our other star.

You would think that Casino owenrs would know better than to play scared...

Peja is probably rolling over in his bed right now...its his team, finally(even though we have Bibby, Miller, etc...) This is what he wanted...will he change his tune now that Geoff has handed the team pretty much over to him in making this trade? Dammit!! I'm pissed as hell about this trade...man, what a sinking feeling....man:(

I swear to god this whole day has been a nightmare, If Petrie does nothing else and Peja still continues to play at a subpar level what the hell can we do? Nothing! Peja will still probably opt out, and these guys and Corliss will not be coming of the books anytime soon. I'm completely shocked and confused and surprised, I have to admit I knew less about what Petrie was thinking the whole time than I could have ever imagined.

I would strongly suggest you not start talking about bandwagons, etc.

This has been a tremendous shock to a lot of us. A shock of monumental proportions. Those of us who have been around from the beginning - 1985 - have NEVER experienced anything quite like it. Webber started this whole ride we're on. And, all of a sudden he's gone - and for chump change.

Please do not refer to us as bandwagon fans.

Thank you.
