Grades

I agree with your takes Diabeticwonder.

I am extremely skeptical about all this Kevin Martin hype. He did not show me anything on the offensive end last night. And his rushed, ill-advised shots were irritating as hell. I would have graded him a D-.

One thing I did like seeing from Thomas, however, was his scrap and hustle. This team needs that. I'm glad to see that he is fighting for his starting role (although I agree that Abdur Rahim is a better scorer, especially in the low post).

It wasn't a great game obviously, but I didn't see anything to get too worried about. In the one game there wasn't really any surprises. They look just like you'd expect them to. They're going to have some games where they give good energy, but they are not going to be consistent with it (specifically the starters). Their defense and rebounding looks like it will be pretty bad like we expected, and their offense looks like it will be very good. Miller, Stojakovic and Bibby looked the same as last year, and Abdur-Rahim and Wells looked like they will fit in pretty well.

Nice to see basketball again. I'm looking forward to a game when they play well, it'll be fun to watch.

I like Martin, and I'm rooting for him to succeed, but I still have some concerns with him.

He showed some great hustle tonight, is looking more defined physically and has garnered praise from his coaches and teammates so far this preseason.

And yet, he still looks a bit lost offensively. It's almost as if when he catches the ball he looks to drive and if there isn't space, he's not sure what to do next.

I think he'll figure it all out and be an important contributor this season, but I think an A- is a bit high considering tonight's action.
Agreed, he cant force the issue, and has to create in a more constructive manner to the team, instead of being detrimental by just taking ill advised shots or making errant passes...this will get him a quick trade to the Bobcats or Hornets, or put down to the NBDL.

Not a bad job there HndsmCelt ....

I'll tell you one thing ... IF I EVER NEED FEEDBACK ... throw yourself to the wolves (nice wolves) @KingsFans.com ... alot can be learned about MANY-MANY things.

already been mentioned, so take with a grain of salt .... if KT gets a C+ ... then Peja gets an DNC (DID NOT COMPETE) .... if Peja gets a B ... then KT IS ABOVE THE SCALE AT AN A+++

all-n-all ... it's one game - preseason at that - what'd everyone expect ???

King's came out slower then molasses and the Mav's shot 61% in the 1st quarter (nice D).
Thanks, Im'm prty thick skinned so I think I can take the knocks although I guess next game I'll grade on regular season scale since the consenus is that I was too kind. I guess I was just so gratefull to be seeing a game taht I kept looking for the ups, and that does not make for a very critical analysis.

For only being together for 1 week, shuffling players in and out and having multiple combinations on the floor I think we did OK against a team that is basically intact from last year and focousing on defense, supposedly. I assume our goals should be;
1. Get the starting five time enough together to learn and execute all of the offense.
2. Determine how deep you can go on the bench in your substitution pattern.
3. Hope to find a "diamond in the rough" while giving growth opportunities to your draft choices.
Winning, at this point, should be the furthest thing from your mind....but nice if you can accomplish it.

I'm with RowdyOne on this. How well did we expect guys who've played together 1 week to do against a quality team that is basically unchanged from last year? Too early to to tell how this team will do. You could just tell that a lot of Kings were out there and not always sure what their teammates were going to do, especially the new guys.

I did read in or hear in some interview that the starters will get a lot more minutes this preseason than in the last few years, because they just really need the time on the floor together. I think the lower end of the roster is primarly going to have to show something in practice.

Thanks HndsmCelt for the first grades. I always enjoy the comments and points of view that follow.
