Have to See to Believe

So great for this longtime fan in the Midwest to finally get to see a Kings game again!! Getting to see everything I've been reading play out in front of my eyes in hi def was awesome.

- Reke blew me away. You really have to see him in action to believe it.

- Omri...what an amazing addition.

- Beno...it's hard to believe this is the guy we were wishing we hadn't signed last year!

- Nocioni certainly lived up to his rep, and you can tell he loves playing with these guys.

- Spencer...well, I'm sorry but Spencer's basically a cupcake in the post. It seems obvious that he has great potential, but a lot of work to do to get there. It was even more obvious that he's not NBA starter material at this time.

- JT is a beast in his own right, and you'd never know it by looking at him. His hussle for loose balls, rebounding, and shooting skills were critical and he came through. Great attitude.

I think one of the announcers said it best when he noted that one of the teams he was watching had confidence in their teammates, while the other had a lot of confidence in their own individual skills. Watching our team distribute the ball and look for each other was something I've been waiting to see for a LONG time (as have we all).

Here's to more nationally televised games!!

Mizzou King

i think evans should get an A+. 26 points and over 5 rebounds and 5 assists. a steal at the end and sinking two freethrows. a make by arenas wouldve won the game for the wizards. because of that he gets the A+. thats the difference between just a snot nose rookie and a pro; a boy and a man.

What a blast tonight! My record so far this years on attended games...6 for 6. I was sweating there at the end, but my team kept my win streak alive. Oh yeah! It was definitely a good time tonight. And, I had the pleasure of meeting Capt Factorial tonight. :)

The pleasure was all mine! I'm only at 2-1 this season, but hopefully I can get it up to .800 by the end of the year!

Great game, and my heart survived. High praise on the ESPN feed and at times a little disbelief by the announcers. I think they were really surprised how good Casspi was off the dribble and his ability to go to the basket with either his left or right hand. I think Brickys grade for Thompson was right on, but his criticism was a little harsh on his defense of Haywood. Haywood is a 7'1 center that weighs 270 pounds and is in his ninth season. To ask Thompson, a true PF, to guard him with only one real year of experience, and, stay out of foul trouble, was asking a lot. All in all he did about how I would have expected. Yes, we need a legitimate defensive center. We can get by playing Thompson at center at times, but thats hardly the answer.

If you haven’t made it out to Arco, you have to try to make a trip. These guys are really giving it their all and we’re doing it (mostly) as a team. It’s fun!

Anybody have Tyreke post-game interview with G-Man?

Spencer with that a dunk! It made a statement.

Tyreke, Omri….now we have to get Jon Brockman out there. I’d love to see all our rookies get recognition this year.

And it was the best of all possible results for us tonight. We won. In a close, exciting game. On the backs of our kids. With our ROY superstar in the making showing off for ESPN. In front of a good crowd.

Makes me feel uber thrilled that my DVR decided not to record it.

First time I've really had a chance to watch Reke in anything other than a highlights replay online....

Jeebus.

He literally kicks *** and chews bubblegum during games. I forced my friend, a Lakers fan, to watch tonight. He now believes my theory that Tyreke is either a cyborg or a genetically modified superhuman sent back in time to save the Kings. Once the "shooting upgrade" is beamed into Reke's forehead from the year 2100 its over.

That was also the most quiet 26/6/6 I've seen. Not even in a passive way either, he had that latent "I'll take over if I need to" superstar aura about him. And despite all that, he still has so many things he can improve in. His absolute worst case scenario potential wise is allstar.

Also....All the league will hate Omri in a couple seasons. Besides us Kings fans. He's like Peja but with rabies. And I mean that in a good way.

haha, i like this post...

:)

omri casspi is definitely going to be one of those players other teams hate to play against, especially if his dead-eye shooting from deep is no fluke (i'm hoping the god-awful free-throw shooting is a fluke that we can chalk up to rookie jitters). i tend to think of him as some sorta cross-breed between peja stojakovic and doug christie. he's got pure shooting talent, but none of the casual ambivalence of peja. he brings energy, heart, and scrappy play, but doesn't quite have the defensive skill set yet that made doug so effective on that end. he's a really fun player to watch. tyreke is the ice-cold, can't-phase-me, superstar level talent, and omri casspi is the high-energy, passionate, all-purpose, outta-nowhere talent. what a great first round draft combo. i still wonder whether omri becomes the kings' eventual starter at SF. i liked him in his starting performance last night, but i like him as a sparkplug off the bench, too. maybe he's more like manu than doug christie in that respect. he's an utility guy with lots of scrap in his veins...

the kings as a whole are a remarkably scrappy team. its just a shame they're still so poor, defensively. i hope to see that improve, though. they play hard out there. the effort on defense is there. they just don't play smart defense yet. they seem to get caught on screens and lost on their rotations a lot. with more nba experience, i think they can become a passable defensive presence. its just gonna take time. defense is very difficult to master in the nba...

And then, ESPN replayed the Dallas/OKC game instead of the Kings game.
They showed the Kings game after the Dallas/OKC game. At least I know I watched it last night - late - on ESPN, and truly enjoyed the way their comments shifted from "blah, blah, blah" in the first part of the third quarter to "Holy crap, did you see that?" in the late fourth.

Well, could not come up with any famous Slovenian beatuies off hand, so Beno has just become French. And who wouldn't for this beauty -- maybe if more American news anchors looked like Melissa Theuriau Americans would actually tune into the news instead of Survivor 217 and could point out Slovenia on a map...or France for that matter (or alarmingly in some studies, the U.S. itself).
We don't need french beauties, we have more then enough of our own.

Oh really? I'm doubly upset then, because I was looking for it and was going to DVR it, but when I saw Dallas/OKC on I muttered some profanities and then got in the bed. I was at the gym for the first half of the game, and I saw some of it during my workout, but wanted to get home and really go over it. Alas...

I'm ordering NBA League Pass for the second half of the season. I have NFL Sunday Ticket during football season, and can't justify (to the Mrs.) having a $200 cable bill, but come January, me and the Kings will be very acquainted.

:D

They were definitely surprised by Greene's dribble drives. Just wasn't in their "playbook". It's always interesting to hear announcers who have preconceived ideas about players and teams. Invariably, when they watch the game they don't say anything for long stretches of time (like this game) because they are "processing". They already had the book on the Wizards - don't play defense, lazy getting back, Arenas not all the way back, etc. - but definitely not the Kings.
