Peja ( D- ) -- avoids his second F in a week on the basis of a few good rebounds. Otherwise it was back to the same ole story with Peja against the Spurs. They get rough, it ruffles his pristine game, and the Spurs win the matchup. Got a couple of bad calls against him where Bowen spent the game mugging him, but its Peja who gets touch offensive fouls called. But that was a minor point. Things got tough, we needed him, he went away. If we meet these guys in the playoffs, which guy is going to show up? Peja from the last game vs. the Spurs? Or this one?
Webber ( INC ) -- I'm going to go with the incomplete here because Webb barely played in this one. Got in quick foul trouble, came back and immediately hurt his ankle (courtesy of Tony F'n Massenberg no less) . Came back and was clearly hobbled. Wasn't seen after half. When he was in probably no better than a C-, and maybe even worse than that although he was hurt -- no rebs at all, and especially after he hurt his ankle, just settling for jumpers. But he barely had time to warm up before things went badly awry for him, so we'll leave it at an incomplete. Without him to lead us though, we looked totally lost.
Miller ( B ) -- Well, one King brought it. Brad fought hard on the boards. Of course he didn't stop anybody and got worked by Tony Massenberg. Nonetheless the effort was there, and if he'd just had ANY help this would not have been such an embarrassing effort.
Mobley ( D- ) -- avoids his own F solely on the basis of a couple of forced drives which at least showed effort. Of course they were also a sign of our teamwide collpase as 1 on 1 forced drives are NOT our game. But with the system in disarray guess the new guy fell back to what he knows.
Bibby ( C ) -- a few little sparks of life here and there distinguished him from most of the team. Made a few steals, hit a few tough shots. Also contributed exactly zero assists -- in fact all 5 starters combines for ONE on the night.
Ostertag ( C+ ) -- our leading assist man! Says it all right there. Modestly effective otherwise. Not a great game, but certainly was not our problem tonight.
Evans ( C- ) -- got exposed a bit tonight. When the system breaks down, so does Mo. System guy, can't create his offense. And tonight with no passing whatsoever Mo just kept on trying to force up bad shots. Not much option given our total collapse, but still ineffective in that role. Had mroe energy than most though.
Songaila ( D+ ) -- very shaky effort. Made some bad turnovers. No impact otherwise.
Martin ( D+ ) -- looked ineffective and overmatched in there this time. No spark tonight.
House ( D ) -- forced shots in extended garbagetime. Hit a couple, missed more.
Barnes ( INC ) -- was ok during garbagetime. Passed the ball, smoothly stroked a long jumper.
Bradely ( INC ) -- grabbed some nice boards in there. Its only garbagetime, but like what little I've seen of this guy so far.
Adelman ( D ) -- Obviously a team grade of a big ole "F", but I'm going to go ahead and give Rick the D because there was nothing he particularly did to directly contribute to it. Nonetheless, for whatever reason tonight we were totally unprepared to play tonight, and whatever was said or not said during halftime made absolutely no difference. We set a Sacramento era record for fewest assists by the team (8). We let career super-scrub Tony Massenberg totally show us up without putting up any fight. We just completely sucked. Just as the coach deserves credit (and more credit than he normally gets) for those nights when we come out smoking + ready to play, a chunk of that blame lands at his feet when we play with no spark and no pride. Best jsut to forget about this one. And pray that the Webb injury is just a nick and he'll be back in a game or two.
