I think this is the key. If he can stay in the games for his defense, he shall eventually get the confidence, and more shots shall start dropping. And what a boon that will be! We shall be a much more rounded team.
Ben can makes plays on defense that very few players can make in this league... for example that block on Affalo's three point attempt. Ben flew in far away to block that shot! If Ben can start hitting his jumpers and learn to play more in control, look out!

#Collison MVP destroyed Lawson at both ends
#Rudy, came through in the clutch had a tough time against a very good defender who could somewhat match him physcially in Ill Will
#Cousins, looked gassed most the night did his normal get the entire frontline in foul trouble early on , took Mozgov who was poised for a good game out.
#Casspi terrific once again, just made plays that's all he does all game
#Landry was a beast in the paint the 2nd unit needs to be Landry getting it in the block and going to work, his feel in the post is just unreal.
#Reggie/JT both solid, Reggie was basically pac man eating all the rebounds and JT frustrated Faried early on
#Ray Mac, two huge baskets and solid D on AA, dude has a wonderful attitude.
#Mclemore insane alley and good defense 2night on AA as well
#Session scoring 13 points and was beyond awful again, just can't explain what's up with him. We need to play him off the ball a bit more so he doesn't have to bring the ball up, he's struggling getting trapped.

We didn't play close to our best and still beat a team in a harsh enviroment on a back to back, the bench actually came through for the most part.

Loved seeing the team come together as a whole and supporting one another with positive attitude and body language, no groping around and whining. Just go out there and play ball, the rest will take care of itself. That being said, I would love to see more Ray and a lot less of the entire bench playing at the same time. You won't se having many games where this bench scores 40+ points so it helped playing a Denver team that went small ball after awhile.

Clutch Moment of the Game: Joe's 3 fouls on Stauskas in a minute in a half. Reggie Miller who?
I feel sorry for our rookie Stauuskas on those calls. The kid was absolutely terrific on his effort in defense. Two of the calls should not have been called. I hope it does not affect him or discourage him from doing such effort in defense.

It is important to note also that McLemore was also very active in giving his best defensive effort. That shot block he did was just awesome!

IF Malone would stop with Williams once and for all... Start going with Ray off the bench over Sessions (at least for right now). Then we add another elite player maybe a SG now. Its scary to think how good this team could be!!!!

If we had ANYONE or a SG threatening a high % 3pt shot and who could play some defense we would be crushing

Collison is the MVP of this game, but let us not forget Casspi, or Landry....hell im in a good mood! EVEN RAMON "The Scrambler" SESSIONS!

I am really liking what im seeing out of Casspi. This sort of offense and clearly defined role off the bench as a scrapper/hustle player is serving him well.

But man, if we lost this game id be calling for Malones head! Gamble definetly paid off though, the team really came together and showed toughness and execution!

GREAT WIN!!! GO KINGS!!!!
I don't think it was a gamble. I believe Malone knew he would have to take the training wheels off and let them ride. He did .. and they didn't fall down. A good head coach knows when to ask their players for more. I said all game long that Malone knew what he was doing.

It wasn't a thing of beauty, but great team win. Everyone contributed something on the back end of a tough back to back. I voted for Collison because he was the glue that held it together in the 3rd, scoring to keep us in the game while the team caught its breath. Gay and Cousins were tired, so Malone stayed with the bench and it payed off. Casspi is no Glen Rice, but he is energy and hustle! He was a big contributor off the bench. B-MAC had a decent game. Still not hitting that shot he needs to hit, but his defense was better than average and he was hustling down the floor. It isn't lack of effort from Ben. He was a dead-eye shooter in college, so hopefully that shooting ability will eventually come back. If it does he could be the key. Gay and Cousins were tired but when the game was on the line they came back in after a great rest and helped the team get over the hump at the end. Loved what the bench contributed tonight. Loved the way the team played together and the team defense was very good. I am encouraged by this win. Kings offense will come. Either McLemore will start hitting his open shots or Stauskas will grow into the position and be that shooter we need from the perimeter. Great to see Ray Mac get some run. He was ready and played very well. Gave the team energy and played within the offense. That was the best I have seen Carl Landry play for the Kings. He was an inside presence that we needed with Cuz on the bench. There was a Ramon Sessions sighting this evening. It was good to see he still has some game. Reggie Evans is a friggin beast on the boards. He just out hustles the other team to get the rebound. Cousins had every defensive rebound down the stretch. Coach Malone is doing something right because these guys are starting to learn how to play for and with each other. Trusting their teammates. That is how bad teams become better. Cant wait to see them play this same team on Wednesday. Good Job KINGS !!

I honestly don't know if that was a gamble by Malone or if he pre-planned playing the bench long minutes because of the back to back in Denver. If it was a gamble he certainly won the bet. But I'd be willing to bet this was the game he was going to lean on the bench and see if they could produce and succeed. He had every reason to rest the starters considering the back to back scenario. If he had planned it, then he is a helluva coach. Im gonna give Malone the credit he is due. I think he coached his arse off and he is getting this team to gel and play together.

This team doesn't resemble what we saw last year at all. We held the Warriors, Blazers, Clippers, and Nuggets to a combined average of 40% shooting? 3-1? I'm flabbergasted.
Although, everyone can be the MVP (including coach Malone if he is eligible,,,lol) I voted for Collison. Collison's brand of play is contagious. It is heaven and earth from what we had last year.

Malone sent the "we are 14 deep message" tonight. Your number can be called at anytime and you can play key minutes when you earn it. This will bode very well as the season moves on.

Good coaching has been absent here for so long. It is pleasant to see it return. (And yes he did take some risks tonight. Good coaching takes risks, too!)

Ben's D has been nothing short of amazing this season but dude needs to drain those open jumpers. I hope he keeps working, I can't comment on his work ethic but I hope he understands that he needs all the extra work he can get.

The way Cousins carried us last game and Rudy the game before, you would think that bringing them back in to start the fourth and letting them carry us again was automatic. Letting the bench hold the line until the last 5 minutes was a gutsy move, but it paid off. Winning this way is infinitely more rewarding because we've now seen three different ways we can win a game -- feed Rudy, feed Cuz, share the ball. The consistent through-line has been defense keeping us in the game. A team that can beat you in several different ways is dangerous. And a team that puts defense first is tough to put away. There were several times in the these last two games where you could see things weren't going our way and for the past 7, 8 years now we've all watched Kings teams fold under that level of pressure. Not these guys. They kept fighting. That's a credit to the coaching staff for continuing to make adjustments and also to the players for buying in and believing that we are the better team and trusting the system.

I liked the off-season moves we made for the most part. I was very positive over the summer. Somewhere over the course of the pre-season I stopped believing in these guys and started drifting toward looking at what could be done to improve the roster next year. But everything I saw in the last two games indicates a team that is primed to surpass expectations. I don't want to put a number on it, but suffice it to say I believe now. And it's a wonderful feeling! Suddenly all of our mismatched parts are starting to define roles for themselves. I do believe the time has finally come time to stop looking backward at all the what ifs, and embrace this new future. 3-1 is a small step toward the final goal, but it has to start somewhere.

It's nice seeing Carl do well. Fans here really wanted to get rid of him at all costs before the season, which is completely understandable due to his contract + production output. But he proved to this point to be exactly what he has always been, and that a really solid offensive bench big. While he may not have fit in during past years with our absolutely despicable defense, I feel like if the defense we're playing is for real and can be sustained, Landry will be a very useful part to our bench squad.

Maybe it's my bias because he's the nicest pro athlete I've ever met. but regardless I want to watch this man succeed. Same with Casspi. I don't know, I got a certain like for the Landry's and Casspi's of our many treacherous years, role players who gave it their all but had no possibility of success due to our lack of talent and managerial turmoil. It's awesome to me seeing these two play key roles on a much team.

Or maybe I'm just typing mumbo jumbo because I'm absolutely faded. Who cares though, we won and we're looking better than I can remember.
Very nice indeed. Couldn't have said it any better. I'm so pleased that the guys I wanted to remain in the team then (Cousins, Thompson, Casspi and Landry) are now playing wonderful basketball when the team has released Evans, Udrich and IT and Collison is distributing the shots. When the present team really gels, good things will happen. You can put me on the record, this team will make the playoffs.

If we could somehow snare Avery Bradley from the Celtics I really think this team would become something nasty . The Celtics got a ton of SG's and they really love Smart so there could be a small window to get Bradley.

Bens D hasn't been "amazing" I'm not trying to be Debbie downer, not questioning the effort by any means but he was burned again and again by JJ Reddick and got lucky, I also feel like Denver missed a lot of open threes. (on who I can't remember)

he's better, but amazing, for me is pushing it.
You aren't being a Debbie Downer. Ben's defense looks amazing compared to his defense last year but his defense is still below average as far as NBA defense goes. His guys have been missing wide open 3's all season.

The one thing that worries me is that our opponents are shooting 27% from 3 but it's hardly because we're playing shut down perimeter defense (Collison not withstanding). They've just been missing wide open shots. A couple of those here and there and we might have a losing record. I can't help but wonder if we're kind of riding a wave of luck right now as far as teams just shooting poorly against us.

The counter argument is that we're shooting even worse than that from 3. The only thing that worries me is that we don't really have many 3 point shooters anyway. Collison is probably the best 3 point shooter we have and he's been way off from outside. Gay and Sessions are inconsistent from beyond the arc and we can't rely on rookie Stauskas. We really need a shooter out there who can drain 3's once in a while.

lol! Dude Are u serious? Do u actually watch the games? Or did u just see my comment and decide to be a douche bag? (In ur own words to me) anyone that actually watched the game can't honestly say that they are really pleased with the substitutions that Coach Malone made last night. That was one of the ugliest games I have ever seen. And while we did get the win, Coach Malone was on really thin ice with personally being responsible for blowing the game.

A win is a win but give me a break if u were actually cool with all his moves...

Take it easy jake the snake. Maybe go for a run

I waited till it played out before I came to a judgement because he knows his players and their capabilities a lot better than I do. It appeared he was working with the strategy of: let the backups keep it close for as long as possible and wear down their first team, then stick in my first team at 6 minutes or so and let them finish it off against their tired legs. You'll notice he put Ray Mac (the freshest guard in the building) in there for the final 6 minutes, and he came up with a couple great plays, and played real solid D.

So no, I had no problem with how the game was coached. In your world that's not a possibility. Gee you're so open minded. Not hopeless at all. I was so wrong.

Btw, try to lighten up.

I think this misunderstanding is coming from the idea that we were ever in control of the game. Not the case. We were playing in the mountain air against a very fast team that is put together with the intention of taking advantage of their opponent having less oxygen. This was also the 2nd game of a back to back and the 3rd in 4 nights. We weren't going to win without going deep into the bench. It was obvious that Malone was keeping the 2nd unit on the floor while they were ahead. Totally worked.

Ben's D is has been quite good once he gets in front of his man, and his help D has been good and he starting to play the passing lanes pretty well. His mistakes come from mental lapses where he leaves his man or gives them too much space for the long ball.

I know that Rudy Gay did not have his best game but a C grade sounds a bit harsh. Fourth quarter, consecutive possessions down the stretch, who did the Kings go to successfully? He produced some key baskets late in the final stanza. Without Rudy we don't win this game.
