Did anyone notice that Fredette played about 5 minutes? I am not saying that led to anything good or bad but we DO have an overload of decent guards, all of whom deserve time on the court. One has to go.
Don't want to give up Jimmer just yet.

Cousins' boxscore line made me laugh tonight. I think he is getting tired, but he sure is a keeper.
If the Broncos can trade Tebow we can trade Jimmer.
Jimmer is a rookie whose time will come. He's gonna get his chance and I predict a lot of people will be consuming bird feathers when he does.
Here's the thing: Where does his minutes come from?
We have 3 guards under 24 who deserve to get every single minute at the guard positions

Jimmer is probably ****ting in his pants nowadays. We have 3 guards who all deserve 35+ minutes leaving very little room for him to get PT

At least it's 13 million dollar ****.
No actually, that just means you are a bad team under a different name. Scoring 103 and giving up 108 is no different than scoring 94 and giving up 97. Either way you're going to lose most nights (compare that to when we were good, in 01-02 we averaged 104.6pts, and only gave up 97.6). We aren't just the worst at scoring defense. We're at or near the bottom in basically EVERYTHING. Which isn't about pace. Its about incompetence.
Now on the other hand, as I said above, life sure gets easy if you score 115 every night. Unfortunately that will not happen over an extended span and in the end, as always, the defense, or lakck thereof, will be the thing you end up counting on.
Amount of his rookie contract perhaps. Even if he completely bombed out of the NBA he'd be set for life just by getting drafted if he was even remotely decent with his money.
I actually thought the defense was quite okay tonight. the Grizz did shoot 47%, but the Kings did really get into the passing lanes well (11 steals) and won the rebounding battle. giving up 62 assists was bad (wtf, nba.com?) but really, a lot of those points scored against was because of the high pace. on a night where the Kings scored as many points as they did off turnovers, I'm not too mad about the d (even though at some point they'll have to stop dribble penetration better).
as for the poll question: answered with three. Cousins (A- for stupidly fouling out in a stupid way at the most stupid of times), Thornton (no questions asked really) and Isaiah (clutch in the end, had the offense humming whenever he was on the court). Evans and Thompson just miss the cut, although looking at the numbers, Thompson probably deserves one, too.
Only a Sacramento Kings fan will ever be overheard saying with a straight face, well, we only gave up 110 on 48% shooting...not bad!![]()
Hopefully Thorton's playing tonight will end some of the Thorton bashing I've read on this forum. No, he's not perfect when it comes to defense, but his offense output the last few games has made a HUGE difference and without him tonight, we would have lost the game.........
Best offense I've seen since the Adelman era. It's unselfish basketball. Smart gets a lot of the credit, as do the players. In particular, Tyreke Evans should get major kudos for making the suggestion to come off the bench. He gets a lot of points in my book for that. Shows some maturity and selflesness, which is manifested on the floor. It looks like guys are now happy to make plays for others, not just themselves. Will they revert to old bad habits? Possibly. But now they have the taste of winning, and they know how they got there, not by hunting for their own shots, but passing the ball for their teamates' shots. As far as the defense is concerned, I'm not worried about it right now. That's going to take time. Hopefully, next year we'll see improvement in that department. If we do, then the playoffs are a certainty in my mind.
PS I would only hand out one A for this game - Thornton. That's the thing that struck me about this game - there were a lot of guys that didn't play A ball, but still played selfless ball, and that's why they won. If you play like a team, you don't have to have A games from a lot of guys to win.
True. But it's not him that won the game. It was really, really team play that won the game. When it's going good many of our guys can score a lot.Hopefully Thorton's playing tonight will end some of the Thorton bashing I've read on this forum. I agree that we don't have to deal with the "Jimmer issue" right now or soon. These things take care of themselves for good or for bad. Before we won 3 in a row we lost 3 in a row. Will we lose out the rest of the season? Probably not. So go a day at a time. Maybe a bigger problem is IT, who is not getting paid near as much as Jimmer and deserves more, a lot more. But not right now. All things will settle into place. While I do agree that Jimmer doesn't NEED to be traded, I think it would be the smart thing to do this offseason.
Something is going to have to give. we have 3 young guards who all deserve 30 minutes a night (Evans, Thornton, Thomas). That isn't changing unless we trade one of those three, and that's not something I want to do. And it's not just like we have 3 better guards on the roster, some of them are younger then Jimmer, all of them are signed here long-term, and they are all much better than him.
He is an asset with no place here and we still have a lot of wholes in our roster. Do the math.

Indeed.
Either way, it'll be interesting to see what we do with him. He's going to have a difficult time getting minutes nowadays with IT, MT and Reke playing so well.

He can't get an assist if it isn't team play. I truly believe, as good as Thornton was last night and lately, that it is team play that's doing it for the Kings, and coincidentally for Thornton. This should be mentioned because Thornton is not always our best team player. He is improving in all ways and I am hopeful.Pehaps, but without Thorton's last night, they would not have won the game.......He had lots of assists(even made the nba.com page, highlighting his assists). Not to mention his 30 points....
