Grades v. Clippers 04/15

Every time I see someone who's anti-draft refer to the draft as a crapshoot, or something to that effect, I am reminded of what has become my favorite stat in recent months: the Finals MVP has only been someone that wasn't drafted in the Top-10 three times in the history of the NBA (four if you count Moses Malone).

Well, it is a crapshoot.

Don't get me wrong; I'd rather have a shot at a top five player than not have a shot, and you're chances are exponentially greater at landing a stud the higher you're picking. It just falls to the heads making the decisions to make the right decisions.

And beyond that, I can't wrap my mind around wanting my team to drop games. I know it puts us in a better position going forward, but I just can't get on that ship with you, sailor. I just can't do it.

I agree with some of what was said here. While I am actively cheering for us to get the most ping pong balls possible, I wasn't terribley upset over this win. What has driven me crazy is every useless win we have gotten over the last couple of months while playing our mismatched verteran core 40 minutes a game. I see no point in losing our lottery position by proving that Artest, Bibby, Shareef, Miller, etc. can win the occasional game over another mediocre team.

However, we likely are not getting a top two pick and to have hope for the future we will need to pair whatever draft pick we get this year, even someone like Horford, Jilan, etc. with a solid nucleus of talent. Getting a win out of our young players is something to be proud of. Seeing players who could factor into our future like Matrin, Garcia, Douby, Salmons, and Williams play and beat a team desperatley competing for a playoff spot is a good sign for us. While I still would have prefered a loss, this win is much more palatable because it came from our future core and not the underachieving veterans we've been watching all year.

Another good post from a slightly different perspective.

I hope I'm not the only one who finds myself waffling from moment to moment on whether I should root for the kids, root for the woss while hoping for the lin, or just go to bed and pull the covers over my head until April 19...

I'm doing the last option; but I'm admittedly a casual fan, not a die-hard...

So the Clippers don't even deserve to be in the playoffs if they can't win a must-win game against our bench when we were trying to hand them the game.

How depressing to be a Clippers' fan right now.

And dang, we're in 10th with that stupid win.

You are most definitely not the only one. I can hardly wait until this season is over and I can stop feeling so schizophrenic.:(

Here I was feeling grumpy and demoralized that a team worthy of being in the NBA's cesspool beneth its cellar, would somehow manage to finish in the middle of the pack losing out on the hope of a decent draft pick in a ridiculously deep draft.

I was a little, black rain cloud cursing my bad luck to grow up in Sacramento -- and then I opened up Brick's grades to see this:

Morons, your bus is leaving. Don't let the door hit you on the way out of the building this summer.

And somehow, that made it all better.

Thanks.
