Well i certainly won't defend IT in this one, shot wasn't falling, and i counted about 4 really ill advised shots.

The organization is going to be gone next year, so I'm not worrying about it. Regardless of who the new owner(s) is, it's going to be interesting to see whether there are immediate major trades made this summer or whether they want to have an assessment period in which they want to personally scrutinize the performance of the players before the 2014 trade deadline.

My best guess is that Smart will be gone. A new coach (McMillan??) will come in, assess what we have, then ask for action to be taken. I doubt that they would clean house before that coach comes in, but it should make for an active 2014, especially given our current cap flexibility relative to other teams and with Burklestrov's pockets.

Unfortunately, new ownership is going to have to work their tails off to keep Evans/Cousins from leaving/imploding. They would need to build a winner right away, but with a few key moves (one obviously being the coach), I think they can make this team competitive. There's no reason why it shouldn't be right now, other than Smart making everyone a shell of their former selves, so I guess kudos to him for that.

James Ham of Cowbell Kingdom said it best and has ID'd the crux of the Coaches problem:

The Kings bench was flat out atrocious in the first half, combining to score just seven points on seven shots. We are 47 games into the season and Smart still hasn’t to figured out a way to mix his starters and reserves. After an entertaining first quarter, Smart went deep to the bench, using Aaron Brooks, Marcus Thornton, James Johnson, Travis Outlaw, Robinson and Chuck Hayes. By the time Smart went back to his starters, the game was over.

Time and again this has been the problem. My patience with Smart is now gone. Bajaden was right in his criticism which was on point. His sub patterns have no basis in what it takes to win. He is crap shooting with a dysfunctional approach to substitutions.

While Hayes is a smart player, never have him in without Cuz or JT.
Brooks has played his way to the bottom of the barrel.
Fredette is becoming the PG and plays well with Cuz.
TRob needs more minutes and more Prozac type coaching.
Cuz may be going about it the wrong way but he is the most important cog in the Kings engine. Coach HAS to solve it.

This is funny... reminds me of the logic sections of Placements tests back in high school / college days...
9 People are riding a bus...
Jenny can only sit next to someone with red hair...
Bill wants to sit by his best friend.
Alex is best friends with Kenny.
Andrea is allergic to Peanuts, and Frank has a PBJ sandwich...

lol - remember those?

I honestly dont think we're that far away from scrapping for the 8th seed at worst. Its just that the cheap *** Magoofs, GP and his lazy, ham-fisted, approach to roster building, and the rotating carousel of pathetic coaches has held back the franchise. We have the kickass core of Reke/Cousins, we have some good trade pieces (not many, I'd say IT, T-Rob, JT, and Thornton are our most movable assets, maybe Jimmer), all we really need is a legit coach, a pass first PG (or even just a Beno), and a full sized 3 to kickstart the playoff push. Our pathetic FO has made the rebuild seem impossible when really we're quite close.

New ownership and no Petrie will do wonders for the franchise overnight.

since were stuck with Keith Smart until the ownership changes, i think they will finish the season at a pathetic 21-61. yes only 4 more wins

Lol. Come on. No chance that happens. They will be in the 28-32 range which means another crappy lottery pick. :(
