Gerry McNamara

Gerry McNamara is in the nbdl but he is on our team avg 13.2 points and 6.3 ast.

I know not alot of people are high on him but....I think if we release hart and call him up. I like his game.

WE ARE LAST IN 3points. this guy can shoot the long ball.

Gerry Mac was tough as nails in the Big East Tourney, and he gave ND (and pretty much everyone else) fits. I think he would be a good fit as a true PG on this team.

McNamara is a shoot first point guard, just like Douby and just like Price. We have enough young point guards on the roster.

6.3 ast. that sounds like passing alittle bit. and he has a killer instinct. does price or douby? dont get me wrong i am a big douby guy. but...killer instinct not yet have i seen that from him.

Gerry has this.

The "killer instinct" mentality is even in doubt with McNamara. He hit some big shots in the Big East tournament, and then he shot Syracuse right out of the NCAAs for the second year in a row. Some team might pick him up for some shooting, but the Kings don't need him.

If he was that good, he'd actually be in the NBA and not on the D league. Sorry, but I do not think our future lies in picking shards of meat off bones.

And, as has been pointed out, we don't need more point guards. Cutting Jason Hart - who never sees the court - to bring up and have to pay someone else who won't see the court just doesn't seem like much of a step forward IMHO.

The rap on MacNamara seems to be that he has plenty of tools, but one that he relies on too much, and is very one-sided at this stage, even for a project player. The upsides that would be there for someone like a center/power forward (continual growth, shot-blocking, interior defense, ability to draw fouls) can be bettered over time, and is the reason some teams take them on (Saer Sene, Justin Williams), but PGs without ample tools or the fitting mentality rarely get a shot, or warrant one.

For all things said about Bibby, he has always had a great skill-set to build from, and the right mentality. His speed, instincts, shooting ability, and court vision are all big plusses. Of course, defense and other areas are lacking, but the point is, MacNamara posses only one of the above. So at this point, I think he would be a downgrade from any other player on the roster.

Apparently Eddie Griffin is high on Douby as well. (Couldn't resist. :D)

McNamera is NOT the answer. The guy wasn't even that great a shooter in college. I don't think he ever shot 40% or above from the 3 point line. Also, he shot way too many bad shots and isn't a true point guard.

As someone said earlier, there's a reason why he's in the NBDL. He's not your answer and make this team any better.
