George Karl Officially Signed (Sacramento Bee Tweets)

This is making things really difficult. I thought I was supposed to be angry because the team leaked something that was done but was holding off on the press conference. But now maybe I'm supposed to be angry because the team leaked something that WASN'T done.

But wait, Jones got his info from "league" sources and not "team" sources? So...I'm supposed to be angry that the team DIDN'T leak something that wasn't done. Is that right? I'm so confused.

It's a difficult world we live in.

Look man, the contract isn't signed.

You want to dance around like an idiot celebrating , be my ****ing guest.

I'm not dancing like an idiot. I'm saying that *if* this deal gets done, it is a great deal and I don't care what it took to get here. I recognize that the contract isn't done yet.

What *you* seem to be saying is that even if we see Karl on the sidelines, you're going to be mad because the negotiations got leaked and fans got partial information before all the pieces were in place. Yes this franchise makes mistakes, but when they take the right steps to fix them, you have to give credit where it's due.

Really? I care that our promising season got flushed down the drain, but maybe that's just me....

This is George's last hurrah before he rides off into the sunset, him being so adamant about coach here shows that he truly understands that DMC is his best chance of getting a ring. I love it!

No, I'm not saying that.

I'm saying, let's see this deal actually be done before high fiving each other.

And I really do care what it took to get here. Cause it matters in a significant way whether Karl can even turn this around without clearing out the whole team.

Well if Woj's tweet is correct and the team and Karl have not agreed to "lockout pay" and the terms on the fourth year
then they do not have a "Deal". Karl has not been hired. Karl has not signed a contract.

Then Jason Jones and his "league source" are idiots. FO again looks like idiots. One more leak to pee players off
even before Coach Corbin plays his last game.

Jason has jumped the gun, Yes it probably will happen, maybe there has been some verbal agreements
But the media should be quiet until there is a signed contract

Wow. The Kings really need to get new PR people and put a NO TALK RULE in the FO, for all employees, including staff.

They are really looking like amateurs in all of this.

LET'S GET THIS DONE ALREADY!
Do we know that the leaks are coming from the Kings FO? I haven't seen any information on "sources" for these tweets.

Details aside, this will get done and that's a good thing for the Kings.

I'm tired of being angry and frustrated about this team. I will be happy to see things improve.

Meh. It's done. Even if a few details are to be ironed out. May also be that FO does not want it confirmed until after Corbin coaches last game.

That being said, the FO needs to tighten up their ship on these leaks.

The point is if the season had not been "wasted" with the Malone situation, odds are very likely that we miss the chance to hire Karl. Forget about 20 odd games sooner or later,....this is much bigger picture.

This is working out for the better. We have a much better chance of doing some damage in the next couple seasons with Karl as our man, instead of Malone or anyone else who realistically could have been available.

This is a huge deal for this team

Plot twist.. George Karl hires Mike Malone as an assistant

I am willing to perform sacrificial rituals to make this happen.

Huh? Once Malone was fired, hire him. He was begging for the job. He was available. The season may have been salvageable.

Thing is, they didn't wait.

It just got announced again just now, and yesterday, and on Monday.

I've seen this announced in multiple media outlets for days.

Contract terms? No one knows? Length? Who knows? But everyone is sure it's a done deal. It's just odd.

It's not a secret. Why wait? This is just more buffoonery.

So sick of this I can't even get excited anymore even when they seem to have done something good they execute it so awfully.

Why? It's a done deal and he will be coaching on the 20th.. Why are you so upset about that? The front office sucks but I can't get mad about Karl being signed. Yes, it's official by the way.

It is nice to have Karl, but this whole thing has caused our organization to look so idiotic. It does not bode well for future free agents nor the players that are currently here. Simply put, embarrassing.

NBARumours@nba_rumours
Sources confirm what is holding up Karl deal is bad Mexican food GM PDA had last night has caused him to remain in a Sac area bathroom all morning-more details to come

LakersFanJasonJones@Lakers_Fanboy
Conflicting reports now emerging. King's GM is a vegetarian and sources close to situation claim PDA had salad last night, analytics show Mexican food not an efficient source of daily vitamins/minerals

Embarrassing mistakes happen...to all of us. Learn from it, pick up, and move on quickly with a renewed focus. Show that you're better off for the experience, with your next move

You can focus on exact timing....or move on and look at the big picture.

Things don't tend to happen exactly as soon as they "should", when we look back after the fact when a new decision is made. We all know that

Yes sir.

Malone got a raw deal, but if that is the way the FO felt, may he take his guaranteed check and go to greener pastures. I don't care right now if this was some sort of DR. Evil ingenious plan, or a miracle when we were in the gutter. I'll take it.

Now to dream about the future once again.

This is the correct perspective. Karl's no idiot. I think part of what's taking so long is just the fact that he wants to have assurances in place that best guarantee his freedom to work in whatever way he wants to get a ring. As they say, you can ask for anything up front. I like that he's apparently a tough negotiator here. Once the dust settles, I believe he will be absolutely no nonsense about winning.

I sincerely hope this means the coaching search is over for the next 5+ years. Everyone respects George Karl, he's a terrific coach, and I'm sure he'll have no trouble getting this group of guys to buy into his plan for the team once the dust settles. As much as I liked Malone and as much as I hate the very ugly and public way the coaching drama played out this season, this is probably the best move the franchise could have made at this point to ensure a bright future. Hopefully everyone involved can put the emotions of this season behind them and get back to work building something special in Sacramento.

No no. That's just an excuse. This was as badly bungled as anything I've seen in the NBA. It didn't just "happen" wrongly. It was intentionally done in ruinous fashion by an immature and dysfunctional front office, and that legacy is going to linger with us for years. Consistent winning will eventually get us past it, but even then this period will be remembered as that embarrassing mess back in the bad ole days.

George Karl as new Kings coach is official. Tyrone Corbin will coach tonight at Milwaukee as planned.

Though Kings have hired George Karl, press conference after All Star Game. Team doesn't want to detract from Cousins' All Star debut

No official announcement yet but it's done. Karl will be in North Carolina the next two days for Dean Smith's funeral services.

All that per league sources ... Karl is assembling his staff
Its about time. :)

Thank you, this is what I've been saying all along. You hit it right on the nail my friend.

Yes, sir. To add, our reputation as having a clueless ownership contributes to the difficulty in signing free agents.
