This much is obvious: Petrie wanted Nocioni. GP didn't want to send Salmons to Chicago. There was supposedly a deal involving Salmons with a team that is not the Bulls. GP was going to send Miki Moore and Miller to Chi-town but the Bulls said send us Salmons too or no deal. So GP send Salmons to Chicago instead. He just wants Noc that badly.
Boston came to GP with expiring contracts for Noc and GP turned them down. He wants Noc on the team. Now the DUI incident may have changed GP's mind a bit but Noc has played his best ball since. That's why I think we may see Noc sticking around with the Kings past the trade deadline.

I think the way that worked out was we couldn't move Brad, and so we had no choice but to include Salmons. There were rumors of other offers for Salmons alone, but we couldn't unload Brad if we made an individual Salmons move. So in the end we had to pair the two to get it done.
I do think GP liked Noc -- or at least got the impression that we weren't eager to dump him for cap releif at the deadline after the first trade. Buty times change. Notably with the arrival of two kids who look like they can play given a chance. There really is going to have to be something giving once everybody gets healthy. Since barring a major trade wiht lots of pieces its hard to conceive of that "something" involving either of the kids (Casspi/Greene) then logically it would involve one of the three vets with the combined $25mil in long term contracts who together coudl easily eat basically every minute at the SG/SF positions (Kevin, Cisco, Noc).
