Gavin Maloof on the radio - Arena Talk

Anyone hear him? He's begging for help for a new Arena. Sounded like he was going to break down or something. Very odd moment.

Basically Coach T was saying the Kings need a new arena and Gavin started rambling about how people don't travel and know how much we are missing with a newer arena. Also that it's not just for him and Joe etc. He then started saying they need help...over and over.

I'm not good at relaying this so I'm hoping someone else could add to it.

He was reiterating on how people dont know that the arena would be for the whole community not just the kings. He also said that they are currently talking to some private investors to work things out but nothing is even close to a done deal.

Arco Arena is a dump compared to arenas around the league. The Kings need a new arena and the community would benefit from an entertainment and shopping center. It doesn't look like it is going to happen right now. Too many people have a small town mentality in the area. In order to host large events, things like this need to be build. Thank God, the NBA finals did not come to Sacramento when a few free throws and a 3 pt shot is all that stood in the way of the Kings. The city would have been embarassed over its lack of facilities. There arn't even enough hotels to host the Allstar game let alone the finals.

Oh no. Sounds like he really wants that new arena for Christmas, and he's gonna throw a fit if he doesn't get it.
Hey at least he cares about trying to get an arena in Sacramento instead of looking els where. It is time for the state and the local gov. and community to pitch in and get it done. There is alot of other states and cities that would love to have a NBA team.

If the proposal outlined in today's Bee falls apart, we can all say goodbye to the Kings. The angst of the Maloofs is a reflection of their love of this community and desire for continued success here. But, being businessmen, they will do what they need to do to ensure that success continues - relocating the team if needed.

The state has nothing to do with an arena. If that were the case...LA would have an NFL team.
