Gavin Maloof on channel 10

I am not sure where this should be posted, but did anyone else catch channel 10's sports report on the Kings?

Gavin Maloof was interviewed and said something along the lines that something is going to happen and changes will be made, but wouldn't go into any kind of detail. He smiled about it too.

Thoughts? Comments?

I saw that too. He said and I quote..."we'll make some changes we got a couple of things in the works can't talk about it, but I'm sure something will happpen."

Well the Maloofs seem to be our source for leaks so I am sure something is up. His smile/smirk gave me the feeling it wasn't just a Jason Hart for a 2nd rounder.
 
I just saw it too and he looked for real. I hope he was serious. I dont want to sound too ridiculous but i feel i should share that my buddy said the kings have contacted t-mac although i hope not. he cant stay healthy. Something like Brad and Mike for T-mac. Hope there would be more to it.
 
Wow, I missed that. In a way I don't like them spouting like that because I like being "Petrie" like for the betterment of our team and the trust that builds with other owners...

BUT

Since he blew it I'm excited to see what is to come.

I doubt were getting T-Mac... after the season houston had last season. Rockets chasing Mike James, Brad not being a JVG-type guy, probably. Bibby not being a good defender...

Not sure about that at all, heh

well it doesnt sound like a great deal if it's true. brad and mike are the core for the team. it'd be a risky gambling by the maloofs..
 
Hmm wonder if it's Bonzi for Nene? Only thing I can really think of from recent news...

I'd definitely be into that. Nene's overpaid, yup, but quite intriguing and has been making a nice recovery from surgery.
 
i agree totally. I would not want this to go down nor do i think that this is something that the rockets would want. This would be a terrible deal on both sides.

i dont really know nene's game. could you briefly describe it?:cool:
 
Well, I've only seen some of him and that was awhile ago obviously.. since he was out all this season.

6'11", 260, athletic, strong, long. Still has upside because of being on a deep Denver team with Camby/Martin/Elson. 23 years old. Can handle the ball I think, can play in the post. Seems like his rebounding is undertimined but solid... shotblocking, not sure. Still a bunch to be shown, just needs good minutes.

Sure someone else can give better.

I bet we're getting LeBron for KT, KG for Corliss+Potapenko+Rahim, Dwight Howard for Garcia+Douby, Bonzi S&T'ed for TMac, and Steve Nash+Barbosa+2 first rounders for Bibby, Melo+Camby for Brad!

Dwight/Camby
KG/Dwight/Justin Williams
Artest/Melo
TMac/KMart
Nash/Hart

Doesn't ANYONE else like that team?:D ;)


Actually I hope we're getting KG but as long as we make a move and get a shotblocker I'll be happy.


Edit: If we got TMac I'd be very happy too. The guy's one of my favorite players.

It may be something with Bonzi, I hope we don't lose him. Then again Joe has been saying the same thing but the sense I got is that they were keeping the core together.
 
While its vastly premature to speculate over a TMac move just based on Gavin passing some oral gas, I guess I should note that at the end of the season there were ever so vague rumors that there was not 100% happiness there and Tracy might be available.

Brad would be unlikely to be involved due to Yao, and Brad and Mike combined have too much salary anyway. Mike and Kenny however, with maybe a Cisco or pick or some such added in, gets right in the area financially. Then you get your #1 option on offense to go with your #1 guy on defense and maybe come as close as anybody has to recreating the old Bulls Jordan/Pippen dynamic.

Of course if you do that, then is Bonzi back as a super-6th man, or is there a second move involved, and S&T? Never have gotten the rules 100% straight there, can you S&T two free agents for each other? I.e. Bonzi + whoever for Nene?

Then you go off and sign Banks or James as your PG with the MLE.

In any case, wild speculation just from one enigmatic statement by a part owner. And in order for it all to come together it would have to happen fast or all the FA stuff becomes impossible.

Why not see what our young guys are doing like Justin Williams. Why get a young guy that hasn't proven himself much, came off of major knee surgery, and is getting $10M a year? That's way too much of a gamble, but we do need help at 4/5 real bad so who knows, that's just a little too much for me especially after we were so aggresive scooping up all the undrafted guys and have a good group to work with. JWill doesn't have a strong upper body from what I read, but the guy gets like 5 blocks a game...now that is a thing of beauty anywhere but especially in Kingsland. :D
 
If the Maloofs were getting Tmac don't you think they would have blabbed it already?

They could hardly wait to spill the beans about Artest and it ended up with Peja getting all butt hurt.

Well let's be clear here -- none of the undrafted rookies are going to come in here and run around starting for a good NBA team in their rookie seasons. Just not happening. If 1 or 2 of them make the roster and eventually work their way up into being a rotation player, you are pretty happy.

Nene is a starter in this league. A big big who would completely school any of our camp invites at this point in their careers. The quesion just becomes how good of a starter will he become. Something like 14 and 8 should be virtually guaranteed. But can he become 20 and 10?

Entirely different conversation than wondering if a guy is even going to get invited to camp or not.

That's why this is all reading tea leaves. Hell, I didn't even see the interview to see if it was a tired "I know that's what you want to hear" smile, a patient "don't worry, we've got it under control and whatever moves we make will be to help the team" smile, or a michievious "wait'll you get a load of this" smile. ;)
