Game discussion - Suns @ Kings - 10/11 (pre-season)

Preseason is actually important for this team (in my opinion). We need to jell and I think that's the beauty of pre-season.

This game was so hard to watch. Not because we lost, but the chemistry is killing me. I just don't see those passes that we should see. I know its the beginning of pre-season, but...I don't know, I like to see more from them. Plus, I really don't like our off-season pick up (Mikki).

We have some bright spots and hopefully it will get better...btw. dude12, I agree with you about Greene, so far he seems like a better player than Shakur.

Keep:
Greene

Cut:
The rest

Starters:
Bibby
Martin
Artest
Thomas/Abur-Rahim
Miller

Bench:
Cisco
Douby
Moore
Greene
Hawes
Salmons
Williams

I have been reading a few articles about the Kings written by 'experts' over at BSPN, and not one of them thinks Kevin is going to score over 20 ppg this year. I think he could be around 24ppg and if he does that he's a lock for the allstar game (a la Ray Allen.) Douby really is playing well and it seems we have a strong backcourt this season. When season starts I think the lineup will look like this:

Starting:
PG - Bibby
SG - Martin
SF - Artest
PF - Thomas (Unfortunately)
C - Miller

Second Unit:
PG - Douby
SG - Salmons
SF - Garcia
PF - SAR (Maybe Williams)
C - Moore

Towelers:
Hawes
Williams
Greene
Maybe Caner-Medley or Shakur

Do they give a reason why?

There's no reason he can't do exactly as he did last year at the worst.

They (Hollinger, Sheridan, and Stein) said that Kevin will range from 14 ppg to 18. Hollinger said K$ would score 15 a game, Stein said he'd be at 18 and Sheridan said he'd have trouble getting to 14. Its all in the insider article over there.

They don't know what they are talking about. Kevin will score 20+ ppg.

How is replacing SAR and Corliss' minutes with Justin and Moore, supposed to result in less shots for Kevin? Also the more Kevin plays with Brad the better he does. Do they think now that he has his contract, he is just going to coast? Inquiring minds want to know.

Honestly, I don't think any of these "experts" have even seen Kevin play more than 1 or 2 games in his career. And 1 was the Spurs playoff game.

Jeez, this is what sucks about being a bad team again.

Nobody in the national media has a freakin' clue about this team. We're off the radar. Back to non-existence in nowheresville.

I'm sure they are basing those low Kevin numbers on his late season collapse last year, and projecting that as his reality with defenses keyed on him (he was about 17-18ppg on 42% shooting in March/April last year).

But I'm not buying that and think he will be at least 19, and likely more like 20-21+. As an aside, even 24ppg won't make him an All Star though without major injury help. He's just a scorer. A 22-24ppg just scorer on a poor team rarely makes an All-Star game, Call it Maggette/Richardson syndrome. The West lost some All-Stars to the East in the offseason, but with Nash/Kobe/Parker/TMac/Baron/Deron/Paul/A.I etc. around, there are still too many in the way. Now take that same 24ppg scorer, or even 21ppg scorer, and put him on a good team, and he's got a shot to squeak in as the 11th/12th guy. Call that Rip/Peja/Rashard syndrome. But pure scorers are not obvious All-Stars, and its all context driven for them. If one day we somehow bungle our way into being good again, then Kevin will have his opportunity.

You hit it right on the head. I am really not too concerned with the national media's opinion. Probably the biggest thing in Sacramento in the NBA view is the arena issue. I think K$ will be between 22 and 24 just because we have one more offensive option than we did last year (Brad Miller.)
