TO ALL THE HATERS HERE... lol! Frye has out performed JT in about every which way over the last few years including BLOCKED SHOTS!!!!..
Dude, take it down a notch. Everybody NOT named sactownfan is having a civil discussion. You keep acting as though you're defending yourself against some flame war only you can see. Nobody's hating. What they're doing is pointing out that they don't think Frye would be an improvement over JT (an opinion I happen to agree with but don't really want to waste time arguing about).

I'm calm... Haha I'm just stressing that im not as high on this shut down defender version of JT. He has played very good D but I do think frye could be an over all upgrade.

JT has done an incredible job of improving his defensive game, and I do not use the word "incredible" lightly. If you haven't seen it, it's most likely because you're not used to looking for it. Are there players out there who would be an upgrade to Jason at the 4? Oh hell yeah. Is Channing Frye one of them? I don't think so. I'm going to add a poll to this thread to see how everybody else feels. :)

Thinking the wrong dude for Frye to replace. He'd take Landry's role on this team, not JT's. And Frye's defense isn't AS BAD as people think it is. He's not world beater by any means, but he's not some mega-wussy who hates any and call contact.

Yeah, he's actually played semi-decent defense for Orlando this season, though part of that may just be because he's playing with decent defensive players as opposed to Dragic, Gerald Green, and the Morris twins.

JT outperformed frye today simply put
Leads to the question, why JT doesn't play like this in the majority of games with DMC out of the lineup. Dude is 6'10, quite coordinated for a guy this size, can hit midrange-jumpers, has a solid halfhook, can take one dribble and go up strong - but more often than not, he decides to simply not use these gifts. JT refuses to play like a big man on offense, he isn't aggressive and doesn't attack the basket. If I watch JT and Evans play, the difference couldn't be more obvious. JT is by all means the far superior player, but Evans brings the tenacity JT lacks, the desire to power through the whole opposing team if necessary.
With DMC out, the passivity of JT is hard to understand, when the game versus Orlando showed, that all it takes is the desire to play like a true big man.

I don't know why JT is playing how he is, both the good and bad.
I will say it is exactly the opposite of what I expected, considering the offseason talk about touches and 3 point range.
While I wish JT could put it all together at the same time, I will take this version with open arms.

A lot of it is mental for him. (demeanor, body language, thought focus) He's one of more constantly negative players in the league....always complaining, shaking head, etc etc. I believe it's the major aspect that holds him back from reaching whatever his full potential is

Why JT?

Why not the midget Landry instead of JT to get Frye?

Right now, JT is a workhorse in this team (no matter how dumb he plays) and he is almost our indispensable defensive player against the other teams' big compared to Landry.

It might actually make a little bit of sense if Landry for Frye.

can the player you trade out come back in the same trade?
:D This is almost like the decision to keep playing him. It doesn't make any sense, it doesn't seem possible...however, no matter what happens, he'll be on the Kings come hell or high water....and Ramon's playing time will happen! ;)

It was a typo. The thread title showed that the real choice should have said "JasonThompson/Ramon Sessions for ChanningFrye/LukeRidnour"...
