Free breakfast at Denny's on Tuesday 2/3/09

Thanks for the tip, my wife's birthday is this week, I know where we're going. :p

Does Denny's still have that promotion where your meal is free if you can show them it's your birthday?

I won't be anywhere near a Denny's tomorrow morning. That place (all of them) is going to be a mad house. No thank you. I'll gladly pay $6 or however much a Grand Slam costs these days (remember "$2.99, are you outta your mind?) if the alternative is being involved in that type of circus.

denny's is only good if you are completely intoxicated to the point where you cannot taste anything. Other than that, it is something that should never be consumed by a living being. Man or beast.

You were more right than you know. Drove by two on the way to work between 6-6:30 and both had cars stacked up and lines out the door.

I wouldn't eat at dennys if they paid me. Last time I got food poisoned. What sucks is if you're gonna get food poisoned might as well let the meal be worth it but not at dennys. Their food is trash!

So, because you had bad food there once, you think that all their food is bad?

I rather like the food at Denny's just fine (Super Bird > j00!); it's the service that leaves something to be desired, in my opinion. I've eaten at dozens of Denny's restaurants across the country, and they seem to have a knack for finding the worst attendants in the food service industry.

Yeah, the Super Bird is great. Wash it down with a strawberry lemonade, and maybe add a carrot cake, and you're in business.

Their breakfast isn't all that good, but they do have some good stuff there.

By food quality standards Denny's is horrible, but it serves its purpose. I consider myself fortunate to live somewhere where Denny's is obsolete thanks to great locally owned options but when you're in sleepy towns or unfamiliar territory a late night Denny's can be a godsend.

Consider it a social commentary. That statement is the verbal equivalent of me giving the middle finger to the type of people who turn their noses up at chain restaurants/retail stores/et cetera, and subscribe to the belief that if it's mass-produced, it can't be any good.

Well I for one never said Denny's can't be good, I merely said the food quality is sub-par, which it is. There's a difference between what tastes good and is enjoyable to eat and using fresh, quality ingredients that is not mutually exclusive. I eat at chains all the time, and enjoy them.

I happen to own 2 mom and pop restaurants and to me they are not overated. From my experience and going to other mom and pop spots I've found that the food is prepared with extra care. Backing up dennys, IMO is like saying the kings will win this years championship, no pun intended :)

Wow, tried getting my free grand slam today, and there was a line around the corner of the place! I said no thanks, went to carls jr instead.

Eventhough I did not want to go to Denny's that day, I applaud Denny's for giving away a free meal. I wish other restaurants would do the same.

I don't mind Denny's. I don't know how it is now, but Denny's was known to be a pretty awful employer at one time.

Service and food can vary from one Denny's to the next, but I've found the same to be true of the Mom and Pop places, too. Some great, some horrible.

By the way, the supposed poshier, more expensive meals can give you food poisoning, too. I know from a really bad experience at a restaurant in Fair Oaks. Man, was I sick.

Agreed. Most sick I remember being was from Max's Opera Cafe once - that was a cool place.
