Fischer: Kings willing to trade anyone except Keegan and Nique

I just haven't seen anything from him that screams "All NBA defensive team". Maybe in comparison to DeMar, sure, but that isn't saying much. Keegan is our best defender by a MILE IMO and it's not even close.

Best guard defender. He's not a wing. Think back to the play-in game that they won against the Warriors. Keon contested everything and disrupted Curry enough to keep him from taking over the game. If Ellis had been at that stage of his development the year before, they would have been more competitive with a chance to win game 7.

A defensive lineup of Ellis, Clifford, and Murray is a very good fit

A lot of the “I like him but” Keon arguments strongly resemble a lot of what was said about Davion. Like ham just said on 1320, Keon is gonna go where he wants and he’s gonna have plenty of suitors.

I'd love to look at the list of teams that have inquired about him. Willing to bet a majority of them are playoff squads

Ham was on 1320 and mentioned that one of the NBA publications has Keon as the 6th rated free agent for next seasons free agent class. Like this is going to be another Davion situation.

Now what can happen though is we deal him and the team that’s getting him will tell him what they will offer him when he can sign an extension which is right after the trade deadline. If there is an agreement in place we have a chance to get a nice pick for him.

I suspect that Perry is envisioning Nique as the future 2 guard making Keon expendable

I dont understand this logic at all. Stats show how impactful he is. Just watching him shows how impactful he is. He has misses, of course. Every defensive player does. But he also doesn't get the chance to "play" through those mistakes and he for some reason is scrutinized at a level the rest of the team isn't on the defensive end.

, the bigger issue is how bad our process is as a whole in actually investing and developing on defense. Unequivocally, no matter how good you think Keon is, he's one of the best defensive players to come through this franchise in the last 20 years.... and he can't get on the floor. We've been starved for so long on trying to find players like him and he's not getting a chance, despite proving on the floor how good he is

Devin Carter, same boat. Instead of leaning on a superb defensive talent that would have to be brought along offensively, he's wasting away on the bench with DNPs for Russ and Dennis

Which means perry is a dumbass, Nique being the future at SG doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have anyone else capable of playing that position let alone someone that won’t cost that much like Keon. Let’s look over that fact that Keon could come off the bench and slide Nique to SF, pure comedy but hey same guy that overpaid for Schroeder then signed Westbrook when the team has one wing over 6’6

Someone used the word "bonehead." Most players need time to adjust to NBA defenses. Carter shot .517 for Stockton last year, and led the team with a stellar .696 TS%. He has plenty of offensive potential.

And to reiterate a point I made a few days ago, he is the one player on the team most like Doug Christie. Maybe you folks that saw him in his prime can expand on that.

Why not then sign him as a 3&D 6th/7th man? Not saying to over pay for him,...just offer what he's worth. Maybe later with further development he could start at the defensive 1, with someone else as the offensive initiator. This is likely what a better team would do. Then you have a disruptive guard that takes open 3's and shoots over 40% and can chase around the opponents best guard matchup for him, so that Murray doesn't have to and can conserve some energy for a much bigger offensive role.

Ellis and Carter get hammered if they can't lock down Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or Anthony Edwards. DeRozan, Schröder and LaVine get credit if they're not staring out into the crowd while they're supposed to be on defense.

It’s too late with Ellis. The kings have already fumbled him away. And what will make kings fans even happier, according to ham, the lakers have always been enamored with Ellis. Personally I think it would be a pleasure seeing Ellis haunting the kings with the lakers. Justice. Much like seeing Davion killing it with the Heat. He was written off here and is flourishing on a real team.

Obligatory *points at “Don’t trust Ham. He literally knows less than random people on the street in addition to being a massive tool” sign* post

I love how we've all basically known this since Perry was hired, but, hey the deep, deep insiders at Dallas Hoops Journal are on the case so now it's real.
Dude gets hired and the first thing to surface is a video of him calling Zach a losing player. I feel like that should have made a lot of people question their narratives on the Kings but most doubled down.

I hope we end this Zach nightmare. I still can't effing believe I actually said "glad to have you here" to him the week he made his debut. It was a cope but bro stopped trying in record time.

Engaged LaVine is the guy who dropped 30 PPG on 67% TS the first 10 games.

LaVine who's quit is the guy we've gotten the last 2 weeks

I'm pretty sure Zachs been told this too, considering his effort levels the last 2 weeks

Every player knows this. They can't get out soon enough. The question is how much the pride ride lasts. DC has pulled every lever to get the Kings to play hard and they are for the most part.

got to make a move for the team and bring him off the bench

Nique has not looked good lately. Sorry, just have to admit that.

The Kings are doing it again. Killing any and all potential in their wake. At least this is probably just because they haven't cleared the muck yet but, this is the same story over and over and over again. The problem with Nique is other than some hustle boards he's pretty raw defensively so he's actually hurting the team being played this way. Rebounders and defenders you can dart in and around the rotation and they'll still do those two things if the offense isn't going, not offensive glue guys like him. This is another case of basic misuse.

Basically, if he's ever going to get better he needs to be allowed to play through his mistakes, which is never going to happen as long as there are 55 years worth of veterans ahead of him in the rotation. Which, you know, could be forgiven if the Kings were playing winning basketball with the veterans, but they ain't.

He plays a form of team basketball while most the veterans are just out there looking to get their numbers. Just doesn't work when half the team is made up of selfish players. Keon has suffered as well. Hopefully Doug pulls his head out of his ass sometime soon and starts actually developing these guys but he's not even showing signs of being close. He's playing the vets whether they're getting blown out or not.
