The latter, at least in my Personal Record Book™.
I find myself in agreement with those definitions.
Glad that we're in agreement. Except for the part where you think that counts as "building around," and I don't.
Eh, so it's semantics then.

Too much credit? Really? Is there a cap on how many good defenders a team is allowed to have at once? This is the kind of craziness that I expect from Kings management but not from the fans. We have a guy who is an incredibly disruptive defender and a knock down shooter and we got him undrafted and have had to pay him practically nothing (by NBA standards) for the last 3 years. If we can't find minutes for a player like that on a last place team than we deserve to be a last place team forever.
What's the end goal here? Even if we trade Keon for 3 first round picks odds are none of those picks will be as good as Keon is right now and I think you know that or at least you ought to. Anyone who has watched the Kings draft in the first round for the last 20 years should know that. So why trade him? So that we can suck even more and hopefully get lucky in the lottery? Is he standing in the way of the tank? Are we the only team in the league who is too good for a 3 and D role-player?
We disagree on how good of a defender Keon is. Give me versatility and ability to hold position over disruption and gambles.
The report says anyone outside of Keegan and Nique could be available in the right deal. So what? That is not the same thing as saying we are shipping him out carelessly. As I mentioned in the previous post, why didn’t they trade Keon in the Kuminga deal if they are so open to moving him and he has so much value? It’s just a report and like most of them they don’t mean jack shiiii. I’d imagine Keon is on the team next year unless he gets included in a bigger deal or someone offers him a monster deal.
Show me a Kings team with more than 3 good defenders on it and maybe then I'll start to worry about guys like Ellis not being able to guard more than 2 positions or gambling too much for steals. Until then, I think we should probably keep the only 2 defenders we currently have who warrant so much as a footnote in the national conversation.
I am not usually the Debbie downer type but I think we have given Keon too much credit for his defense. He can’t guard quick and strong guards, cant guard up, gambles for steals that occasionally burns him and fouls a lot. He is incredibly disruptive (maybe one of the best in the league) but I would make an argument that Devin Carter is a better and more versatile defender. On offense he is an upper tier shooter but he pump fakes more than he shoots, doesn’t rebound, pass well or excel in transition. Would I like him on the team? Yes, I hope we re-sign him and give him a consistent role. Having said that, if there is only room for one player of his archetype(defense first smaller guard), I’d put my money on Devin Carter figuring out offense to go with his more versatile defense, passing and rebounding.
“…league sources say that the Kings are willing to listen to offers for players up and down their roster … particularly for Sacramento’s veterans. Just don’t get your hopes up about your favorite team acquiring the recently re-signed Keegan Murray. … or last June’s prized first-round pick Nique Clifford. Sources say both will be off the table in upcoming trade talks.
“Word is, furthermore, that new general manager Scott Perry realistically understands that he has to undertake a multiyear rebuild as opposed to trying to cobble together a plucky playoff-worthy squad from the ashes of Sacramento’s Beam Team. The hope is that Murray and Clifford are going to be a part of that.”
The report does not mention that the kings are shopping Keon or that that are even open to trading him.
You think that being willing to listen to offers for players "up and down their roster" doesn't include Keon? Come on
So to be fair, there's no way I'd trade Nique or Keegan from Wemby...and the reason is that the only reason the Spurs consider trading Wemby is if his knees are about to explode or he's about to get A Separate Peaced.are you suggesting that Nique is off the table in a trade for Wemby? How about Keegan? That’s what the article insinuated, right?

What is it with you being all up in my high school honors English reading list the last few days? First Kafka, now this? I am a big Keon fan and want him playing here, but too many fans just look at his steals and deflections and ignore that the same gambling that results in steals often results in free points for the opponent when isn’t successful.I am not usually the Debbie downer type but I think we have given Keon too much credit for his defense. I’d need the Clippers to at least throw in a pick though. Not like they’re going to actually have them to use if they keep them once the investigation hits.Get it done. Collins for Deebo straight up works. We get bigger, add shooting, increase playing time for the guards and get a look at Collins for a half year. 26 mil off the books next year if we so choose. Clips get a short term boost in their win now window while keeping the books clean for ‘27

Another one that works is Deebo for Bogdan and DJJ.
Advanced stats: Good when they’re about Keon Ellis, worthless when they’re about Domas Sabonis
This is not a claim that has been made by anybody! Are you saying that you don't think we should be shopping Sabonis or that you think he's a top 10 defender at his position/role?
The problem is, I really don't think there are underlying messages here or some sort of secret hostage message. I think the reality is Perry is actually corny enough to post these thinking they are motivational to his followers.I feel like we need to start a new thread/discussion...
