Euro Talent

we all know about ricky rubio and how some of us want him in a kings uni (i do want him around the kings)

Ricky at his age and skill set is oozing with promise...

but are there other euro talents out there?

lets not forget the other guy.. Mathias Nocedal

i think the guy also plays point... if we manage to go draft rubio and this guy hmm both 18 i know...

I like Victor Claver, a super-athletic 6'10" small forward who can really finish around the rim. But given the logjam, we really don't need him barring a trade.

Omri Casspi was supposedly going to declare last year, but didn't..

Casspi reminds me of a younger Nocioni, but is stuck between SF, and PF. Needs to work on his 3pt shot if he is to play SF. A bit small to play PF, but does have good basketball IQ.

Alex Shved is very popular among American scouts. He is a very tall (6'6") and athletic point guard. At least, Jonathan Givony likes his talent a lot. However, he does not play much this season and I do not understand why he was not loaned to another team where he can actually play 20-30 mpg.

If we go big with our lottery pick, I'd like to see the Kings look at Spanish PG Sergio Llull in the second round. He's 21 years old and already the starting PG (and primary playmaker) of European powerhouse Real Madrid. But he's not your ordinary Euro guard, because this guy's got some pretty solid athleticism and a quick first step.

You look at his stats and they don't blow you away, until you see that he's 3rd in the ACB in Assist to Turnover ratio (5th in the entire Euroleague), he's shooting 43% from 3 point territory, and that he's the starting PG of one of the best teams in Europe.

A guy I was hoping we could get in a trade with portland a few weeks ago - Peteri Koponen from Norway. Portland has his rights, but they sent him back to europe to play for now. The guy is still a teenager I think, and played extremely well in summer league. I know its just summer league, but he showed a lot of promise (I was at school in oregon over the summer, so I watched most of portlands summer league games). Hes a guy I wouldnt mind us trying to keep an eye on and maybe making a small trade for. He is 6'2'' or 6'3'' also.

anyone know anything about Emir Preldzic?

NBADraft.Net has us taking him with our second rounder ..

hes from slovania .. so he's got beno as a team mate if we take him.

Origin - close but no cigar. He is Bosnian but with Slovenian passport.

His ceiling is very high. He is one of the rare "point forwards". Almost 80% of all of his teams offense starts from him. He is tall (6'9), can shoot 3s, good ball handler, great in traffic, loves to penetrate but still not as efficient in finishing as your regular Tony Parker.

On the other hand, there are games when he just collapses and does not produces. But he is very competitive though and a proven leader on the floor despite being young. The good thing about him is that he is coached by a great coach know for creating great players out of young talent.

He is certainly a great talent and with age of 21 a good choice for a second round pick, maybe even late first.

I am looking forward to this summer when he will most likely play for Slovenian national team in European basketball championship (but there is quite a competition for his spot this year).

Casspi is a nice prospect. Good size, athleticism, shooter. Runs the floor well, can pass and handle it. His form is strange to say the least, but definitely a respectable shooter.

Would be genuinely happy if we took a chance on him with our second 1st. Not my favourite prospect there, but I'd be happy with him.

I was thinking more with our 2nd rounder, seems like too much of a risk for the 1st but we'll see how things go.

Would be a great pick with our 2nd rounder, but I don't think he'll be there. It's a possibilty since we have a high 2nd rounder, but I think a team could take a chance on him with a late 1st.
