If you think the Kings will continue to have the lowest payroll in the league after they move to Anaheim, you are mistaken. As SOON as they move and the new CBA is done, I expect them to pump out the $$$ to attract new season ticket holders.

Ya know, the thing they could have done for the last....2 or 3 years. In Sacramento.

How do we know they have the money to do that? They might be selling major shares of their Casino to survive.

Both the pro and con in the article are right, for now. The CBA, potential lockout and the economy are all once in a generation pertibations in our recreational life cycles.

The economy is on the verge of turning the corner, the mid-east situation needing resolution of course, the Kings definitely have the building blocks to get to the next level plus the cap $pace to help big time and a lockout may provide the breathing room to see if Sactown can in fact one last time compete with Anaheim and Honda Arena. If they can't, well business wise, the Maloofs will have completely run out of reasons to stay. Unfortunately Sactown has yet to step up to the bar in ten years of being wooed (much less even approaching said bar). Think about it. How many years would you take complete rejection from the girl of your dreams before realizing she didn't want you and you just have to move on?

There is only one item in the ESPN LA article I take issue with: ".... two (NBA) teams on the rise in the LA area." one yes, the Clips but I see the Lakers on their downside with little hope of near term recovery. The last paragraph in the Pro article supports that too:

At the very least, it's an independent confirmation/corroboration of whatever the person is stating. I could say "The Maloofs decided to move to Vancouver" and if you ask me for my source and I say "I have my source, but I can't tell you", then you could reasonably conclude that I'm just making noise. If I give a name of someone, you could contact that person to see if what I said is true.

Because they are not selling the team and easily could if they were going down. Because Stern would never tolerate ownership that was so consistently poor that it throws off the competitive balance of the league.

It depends on what his sources are. I don't know until I hear them. But If I were to come on this fourm and say that I have sources that tell me the Kings are moving to Kansas city, I'm going to be hammered until I can explain my sources. I've had inside information in the past that I never posted on this fourm, because if I did, I would have to expose my source. That would have gotten that person in trouble, and I would have lost my source. So I didn't post it.

Now those are my personal rules. You might have different ones. I just have a hard time understanding why anyone would say they know something that everyone else doesn't know, but they can't tell you what it is. If you can't tell me what it is, then why tell me anything at all? I mean, whats the point?
