Escrow money should be in today and other news, rumors, etc.

Why do the Maloofs have such apparent disdain for KJ and Sacramento? To the point of being unreasonable? As a businessman this has always puzzled me.
They're not exactly the best businessmen, so them making unreasonable business decisions shouldn't be puzzling.

But in the end their business decisions with regards to the Kings seems to have paid off, as they'll end up with a lot more walk away money than they could have gotten otherwise.

I feel like their disdain for KJ and Sac is mostly about money. Johnson prevented them from a deal they thought would make them a lot of money in Anaheim and they've held a grudge ever since, and their actions that went against Sacramento always seemed to be based on a mix of wanting more money than they could get in Sacramento and not trusting Johnson.

So walk away already....are they still trying to save face?......Really?

I think the NBA wants to approve the Ranadive group in the 15th and get the Maloofs out ASAP.
I think your right, I suspect they will have a cashiers cheque in the lobby on the 15th. I also suspect that minuets after the vote papers will be signed and the Maloofs will head for the cheque like my Beagle after a piece of cheese.

I think there's a good chance they will, but only when they feel comfortable that they will actually get the money. Remember, they distrust KJ and by extension his investors, so they want to make sure they don't lose out on what they thought they had secured.

I'm not convinced it's KJ that they hate, other than he's just the latest obstacle to them getting out of Sacramento. It's obvious that the Maloofs never wanted to stay here to begin with. But, no matter what they have tried, they haven't been able to get out of Sacramento with the team in hand. The Maloofs are bitter because they have not been able to beat the city of Sacramento at anything in the last 10 years and KJ has been kickin their butts for the last 5 years. They wanted to take this team to Vegas or LA and weren't able to, so now they are acting like spoiled children and saying, if I can't have it, neither can you. Luckily, Stern is putting them back in their place.

I will be so incredibly glad when the day comes in the not-too-distant future when we no longer have ANY discussions about anybody named Maloof.

I find this idea being floated around by a certain city that the Sacramento ownership group doesn't have the money. Yeah I wonder why guys without the money already put down 50% of the money they don't supposedly have. ;)

It's pretty hard to be the last people on the parade route still cheering for the emperor's new attire.

I think they just got spoiled by Ballmer's endless pockets and assume that anyone that can't drop any amount of money at any time means they are poor.

Sometimes for ****s and giggles I like to just plop down $341 million on the counter for a candy bar just to see the expression on the cashier's face when I ask for change.

It puzzles you because the Maloofs aren't businessmen. They're emotional man-children playing house with their businessman daddy's bank account.

That's why they've been neutered in this process while Stern and Co. work in the background on their plan to get these numbskulls out of their and our lives for good.

This will be an interesting week... Obviously we just want this vote formalized and the Maloofs to take our 525 valuation and get out of our hair...I trust the NBA has the wherewithall to make this concrete.. It's a little unnerving when reading sonicsfalling how many other things could, even if fantasizing, go down with the Maloofs and HBN involved..

People keep bringing this up as though they're being forced to read the drivel. My suggestion? Don't go there and don't buy into their agony. It's okay to be cautiously optimistic but we don't need to do any more hand-wringing or second guessing. We've got this. Honest. We have only one more week before the vote is made official.

Every few days or so I go check out what they are thinking (don't have an account and don't post, just read) and it truly is fascinating how far out of the loop they are. They still insist that the agreement is binding and there is no way that the NBA can disregard that. They say that Seattle can just keep raising their bid until the BOG just can't say no. All kinds of crazy, convoluted things that really have no basis in reality or being reasonable. Lawsuits for just about everything.

I don't think they really know what is going on. Sad. They insist it is about them when all along it has been about us.

And please, don't troll them.

It is denial. They cherry pick the info that supports their wishes. Maybe I would be the same but I don't think so. Remember also, as the CAVE people represent s very small and noisy group of people, the Sonics fans that are writing also represent a small die hard group of fans. If the shoe were on the other foot, there would be people from Sacramento holding out as are the Sonics fans.

It's been a long time since I got unnerved by what they say but then I don't read what they say. Why torture yourself? Tell ya what, get out a big piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On one side list everything that says the Kings are staying here and on the other side list all the info that indicates the team will leave. See what that demonstrates. Maybe that's not totally rational but as you write I suspect it will dawn on you that some is wishful thinking and the other side of the line is based on information that exists either as an announcement or as a leak. One side: fact. The other side: wishful thinking and bluster.

C'mon folks. The latest leak of the Twitter exchange between the head of the FINANCE committee and a fan should spell out how the vote is going. I capitalize the fact he is on the finance committee because the finance committee has not voted publicly. The way I add things up, the 7 votes against a relocation just gained one more vote to give 8 against the sale to Hansen, I know the logic isn't totally accurate but it is about as accurate as you can get.

And finally, have I ever been wrong???
