Where are all the Maloof apologists that were here late last week? People that "didn't understand where all the hate from the Maloofs came from" ect ect. Are you still singing the same tune?
What do you think has changed in that respect in the last week that you think people would change their tune about it? Doesn't seem like anything has changed from my perspective.

Of course, I think you're exaggerating the position of the people you call Maloof apologists (or maybe I just missed a few posts), so it makes sense that you'd expect the exaggerated position to change.

With the respective fan bases trumpeting their supportive reporters while criticizing the other sides, Bruski tweets this:

Aaron Bruski ‏@aaronbruski 6m

Again, you have to consider the quality of the sources or reporters when reading reports that say Hansen warranted he will open in 2015.

Aaron Bruski ‏@aaronbruski 5m

Also, anybody reporting that either SAC or SEA will take six years to build an arena probably didn't do any homework at all.

my bad Capt copied my post before I corrected it.

I just love how I said "this is correct" and bolded a typo. Yay, early mornings!

And that's why it's not going to happen (moving the team). The owners aren't dumb, and you cannot spin this any which way that shows the Maloofs were looking out for Sacramento's best interest. The owners know it's not as if Sacramento was a failing market or that we don't have an arena deal in place, or that we don't have owners willing to match and keep the team where it belongs or anything. They know this, and the Kings will stay put.

The Maloofs are garbage. The Maloofs are slime. I hate them so much that I would laugh if one of them were to have an "accident"
.

This simply isn't necessary. Keep it civil. Kings fans are better than this.

I am not a Maloof apologist but I did posy my feelings then and now that there was and is waxaaaaay too much hate on here. I can list the many things I don't like about the Maloofs but it comes no where near the majority of posts on all these threads. I mention this because I think important to do so for the benefit of all of us. We should try to do better.

Nope, not having it. This latest thing with them wanting the Sac group to put in a bid by Friday so they could "one up" it was just the end. You knew something was fishy with it but we all wanted to believe there were good intentions behind it only to be Maloofed again.

That's why I had a problem when I heard people saying that there was too much Maloof hate. It wasn't any of you specifically. I think there was the one person that said they "could see if from their POV and they were making a business decision", even though the whole thing was reeking of the Maloofs wanting to go out of their way to screw Sacramento. It seems like the Maloofs hold grudges (Burkle, KJ, Sacramento in general) so it's our turn to hold that grudge.

Here on out though I will keep my feelings to myself. (Except for the occasional 'Maloofs are garbage' comment :) )
Sorry

I assume this is lobbed at me for some reason? I am not a Maloof apologist, I just think vitriol toward them is a bit over the top. I think individually they are still good people. But as I said before, they are not from here. Selling the team and/or moving it does not have the same emotional conviction to them. I/we would like them to think and feel like a sac area person. But that is not realistic. They are business men who own a business. They are doing what is in their best interests, not ours. Luckily the NBA, being a franchiser, has rules put in place to deal with things like this.

Sorry

Can't we just let this go?

Yes, and don't take what I said in the post as an attack on anyone. I basically threw it out there as a question on how do the people that were wondering where the hate from the Maloofs last week were feeling today about them.

In my anger for the Maloofs I worded it a bit harsh so I am sorry for that. I just was curious if the people that were speaking more positively about the Maloofs last week were feeling the same this week after this latest scam attempt.

If they were "good" people, they would be able to feel what is going on from a Sacramento fan's perspective, that is just common empathy which good-hearted, present people have. The fact that they view this as a business transaction without being able to percieve implications towards others makes them just part of the 40% of all businessmen who only care about themselves.

I don't think they are malicious in that they actively want Sac to lose their team like some people. I mean, if KJ and his whales offer them 525 before Hansen did I think this situation wouldn't exist, and I think the deadline ploy was mandated by Hansen in order for him to bump up the check.

But good people, which actually compose most owners on professional franchises, actively seek to keep the team in the market because they don't want their name tainted and would feel guilty about a fanbase losing its team. That isn't them.

I really don't see what the problem is talking about this? Gary didn't offend me. He has an opinion, I have mine. I am by no means defending them. The only thing I will say is that for sure Gavin and Joe feel remorse about what is going down. I know people who have discussed this with them. Hell I have seen some of the text messages expressing they feel bad.

I understand that doesn't change what they are doing, but it's not a black and white issue.

I tend to agree about Joe and Gavin, but unfortunately they don't speak for the family. For whatever reason, George is the one doing all the talking and - I suspect - most of the machinations.

I'd feel some sympathy for Joe and Gavin but they choose to let George continue to run things even after he proved his incompetency with the Palms. If they really felt that badly about Sacramento they would overrule him, as any sensible person would. I understand that it's not always that easy with family, but in the immortal words of Obi-Wan Kenobi: "who's the more foolish the fool or the fool who follows him?"

Remember, it's a family business and Joe and Gavin only have two votes. There's Mama, there's George, there's Adrienne and there's Phil. For whatever reason, George has become the apparent CEO for the group. Not a wise choice in my mind, but I'm guessing Joe and Gavin may often find themselves on the losing side of a vote.

Yep, it is personal on their part. I knew they were up to no good again with that timeline they laid down on us. You cant change a leopards spots. NEVER trust a magoof...

I can tell you are a good person. Perhaps a little naive, which if anythiing, surprises me. But thats not a bad thing. I do however respectfully disagree. I dont believe for a second that Joe and Gavin feel bad. If they did they would have been up front about this from the beginning. What do you expect them to say to the locals when talking to them? Or in a text (a written public record)? Do you think they would say "we're trying to jack up the city, its fans, and KJ?" Of course not. Their track record speaks for itself. Oh...and it is black and white. At least in my eyes. Right is right, and wrong is, as in this case, so totaly wrong.

I really would love to know how this all came about as far as George being the mouthpiece for the family now. I guess since he lost ownership and power at the Palms he has nothing else to occupy his time. There is a REALLY good story there behind the scenes. Perhaps a made for tv movie someday if it ever comes to light...

One can feel bad yet still do something that they feel is in their best interest. And I agree with whomever said that it's probably a fractured front from the family vote.

As has been stated many times, this was the only way for them to get the ridiculous price of 500MM+. Had they been forthcoming, it would not have happened. The problem is, we see the Kings as Sacramento mainstay. They see them as an asset that can be bought and sold. Lots of owners are like that.

The original deal - 525 - I can understand even if I don't like. No one was going to come up with anywhere near that, and they were losing money by keeping the team.

However, this latest 25 million (16 million effective) bump by Hansen, where the Maloofs were knowingly trying to get Sacramento to committ in signature. Unless I am reading that wrong, the Maloofs would prefer to take 357 million from Seattle
(original deal plus bump) as opposed to 341 million from keeping the team in Sacramento. +/- 16 million when we are talking this big of stakes for you relocating an ardent fanbases team = not good people.

But feel free to ignore this, I coud be reading it wrong, we'll get the facts soon enough

That's how I read it as well. I knew something was wrong even though I had the hope that they were just trying to get a signature on the backup bid because that's the deal they were going to probably have to take. Deep down I knew something wasn't right.

EDIT: Damn, for a second there I was getting "server too busy" and thought some big news came out.
